Wow. How incredibly ungrateful and spineless. I'm so sorry, Graham. But I'd bet my house on Norton being amongst the toads who'll be queuing up to kiss your arse when all this is over. (And I feel inclined to mention that the only time he's ever made me laugh was in Father Ted.)

No surprise here. Norton is a self-promoting sycophant and his “chat” show is unbearable to watch. You have hit the nail on the head here, JL - I too only ever found him funny on Father Ted.

He’s better on the radio than tv. Not someone you can ever really trust if he’ll always put his own welfare first like so many others have? Plenty of lovely people you can trust though Graham

In my view, this man has built his entire career on giggling, furtive innuendo. Others previously have done the same but with with moire genuine wit and style - Williams, Howard, etc.

His extremely staid, safe, well-paid, cushy position in the British Broadcarping Castration negates any chance of him ever getting into trouble - for example see his unpleasant attacks on Winehouse and Goody - to any serious degree because the entire BBC establishment simply rolls its eyes and utters, 'Aww, Graham.. that was naughty.... *tut*' pat him on the head and smile inanely and send him on his way with a 10% pay rise and shares in The Graham Norton Show America Inc or The Blue Peter Garden PLC.

It is like a sickeningly safe Tory seat in which the incumbent could do virtually anything untoward and still get elected.

He has got away with everything over the years... including being a pointless, mediocre presenter 'talent' (Several leagues above James Corden, mind...)

Now he is being held to account an a VERY small way,.. and he can't cope? Tough.

I agree with every word. Spot on.

Absolutely. He's profoundly ungrateful and spineless. It's unlikely he'd have the successful career he went on to have had it not been for his role in Father Ted. And it's the only time he's made me laugh too, and it wasn't with his material. In all the he decades since then, he's been shite

Norton wants to be safe, he wants his career to be safe. Fuck the safety of kids, women and gay men, who have lost and are losing far more than he ever could. Of course he wouldn't listen to accounts of how detransitioners were abused by the gender ideology cult.

He doesn't want to know about their ruined lives. Maybe he'd go for...'they were never really trans, so the responsibility is theirs', type response. But he would be right, they were never trans. Just like numerous autistic, gay and lesbian and emotionally traumatised children were never dysphoric.

They were denied the opportunity to explore their distressing thoughts and feelings. The sense of isolation, lack of belonging and relating they felt. In some instances, histories of familial or environmental physical and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, the fear of developing a sexualised body and identity, internalised homophobia, and so on.

But transition doesn't achieve the kind of escape and transformation emotionally traumatised young people are looking for. So the objective needs to be recovery not transformation, and that means a lot of things being worked through over time. Ideally, with a skilled and supportive therapist. Sadly, these kids are encountering gutless, unethical, shit therapists who are not fit to practice. They are not offering anything approaching therapy, they're assisting the abusers.

Graham Norton is a clueless twat, like all the other worthless, gutless fuckwit celebs who just want to publically scream their allayship. And in doing this they are contributing to some of the horrendous harm being done to children. I hope the careers of all these people end up in the bin, and any attempt by Norton to kiss Graham's arse is met with a massive fuck off.

Graham, I am so moved by your work in this field. The sacrifices you have made to help thousands and thousands of children and to protect women’s rights. Also to protect our basic liberal values.

You’ve used your position to serve the less fortunate and at such a great personal cost. We won’t ever forget what you’ve done for us.

Sorry if this is a bit much, i just want to express my genuine thanks.

I used to like Graham Norton, saw him do stand up once just before he became really famous and he was hilarious. Same with Eddie Izzard, who now makes me feel sick. Funny what money and power does to people. They both need someone to sit them down and give them a good talking to (hope GN sees this vid) but being surrounded by hordes of sycophants must be a big part of the problem.

Or a bit of a slapping behind the bike sheds. People have tried to talk to them but they know better. Why? Because they are middle class, middle aged white men. A stereotype.

Would like to be a fly on the wall at that bike shed slapping .

Same and weirdly, the more spineless and ridiculous these blokes get, the more people link that with us getting more progressive. The more confusing and nonsensical BS we accept, the more enlightened we are, i.e. men can be women (and lesbians), children can be born in the wrong body, trans women won't EVER hurt women, drag for kids is normal. That's Queer Theory all over. Anything goes, or you're a bigot. You must accept everything, and smile, and cheer and clap.

Truth is, we're becoming regressive across the board. Authoritarianism, infringing on women's rights, irreversibly harming children, denying homosexuals their right to be same-SEX attracted. What's progressive here?

Exactly the same. Really loved Eddie Izzard.

Great vid Graham. Heartfelt and sincere. Unlike Norton.

Disappointed in Frostrup too. She should have been tougher and asked him if he is prepared to have sex with a woman who says she's a man. That is what's happening to regular gay men I know. They are fed up being gaslit by women claiming to be gay men. As a result they are going back to underground clubs to avoid women. They fought hard for gay rights, now TRAs are rolling them back.

I'm sure Norton doesn't get that from TRAs, they won't go after him so he is oblivious to the issues affecting real people.

Norton has a right to be ignorant. So many people are. But it's immoral to use your 'celebrity' status to spread your ignorance to the world as if it's fact. Celebs should either educate themselves on the topic or keep their bloody mouths shut.

Women are having a tough enough time without ill-informed and patronising misogynists like Norton being so dismissive of us. Eff you Norton.

Genuine question, I'm not trying to be provocative... are there as many transmen trying to inveigle their way into gay men's spaces as the other way round?

Expand full comment

It is a problem. I've heard many gay men talk about entitled transmen barging into gay events.

Expand full comment

It must be all that testosterone.

Expand full comment

I would think the majority of women trying to make their way into gay men's spaces would be straight and NOT on testosterone. That said, some lesbians who have gone trans have found that taking testosterone attracts them to males, so they may be a minority. There have always been women attracted to gay men, and apparently not just as friends.

Expand full comment

I've had several gay friends complain about being approached by transmen, even at events specifically for gay men. They refer to it as 'the boxer ceiling' like the male version of the cotton ceiling. There's an article somewhere about a trans identified woman going into a gay sauna and making the men uncomfortable.

I don't think it gets as much publicity, probably because transmen are less physically dangerous to men than transwomen are to women.

Expand full comment

They are women so no but they are infiltrating gay clubs etc., tras seem to think that lgb don't count its just the t that counts. Also partners for gay men will be very low in number if the t transes the gay away

I can only imagine what it must be like for gay women if it's as bad as that : (

Expand full comment

Worse for gay women whose meeting places have been compromised by men fully intact larping being a lesbian, I think they are only meeting those they know and trust sadly

Expand full comment

Yes, I saw a few gay men saying they had started having underground meetings spread by word of mouth to stop women coming. The sad thing about that is that, without publicity, newly out gay men won't know about the meetings.

TRAs are pushing gay people back into hiding, it's disgusting.

Graham Norton is a treacherous, disingenuous little creep. He knows precisely what’s going on and is pretending he doesn’t. Norton obviously doesn’t care about children or women, he only cares about himself. In our house he’s cancelled.

In a democracy people are not "accountable" for political or ethical opinions. Their opinions may be poor bad and based on untruths but society doesn't demand penance or penalties for opinions even if they are deemed "wrong". The appropriate response is to offer a better fact based opinion and enter a discussion, not to attempt to cut off the opponent's source of income. That was the McCarthyism tactic. It's the tactic of totalitarians and dictators. It's the classical behavior of a cult. Not only does the cult demand your complete submissions to the dogma but it also demands that dissociate yourself with anyone not sold to the cult, and awards Brownie points for betraying friends and family who won't succumb. The trans cult uses all these vicious and nefarious tactics. It's a cult and no mistake. It is fanatic in its determination to silence dissent. It is not interested in debate, only submission. This particular cult has been more successful than any before it, but it will fall in the end.

I remember Julian Clary being banned from television for over a decade from 1993, simply because The Sun's erstwhile TV critic felt that the joke was beyond the pale (despite his own predilection for class A drugs). I thought he was a victim of an unjust cancel culture, but thanks to Graham I now know that he was simply "being held accountable". Because comedians telling jokes at a comedy awards, about a Chancellor that tanked the economy, is simply not acceptable. I look forward to Kwarteng's current comedy critics being similarly defenestrated.

Actually, I was heartened to read Ben Elton speaking out against the erosion of freedom of expression. I had gone off him completely as only two years ago, he was dismissing threat to free speech as a myth. Most actors etc are desperate for approval or validation . Norton seems more desperate than most on his show fawning over his guests , when I've watched it .

Ricky Gervais's line on the Golden Globes (?) re actors/slebs who would sign for Netflix if it were owned by ISIS for the sake of their careers describes Norton and his kind so accurately.

Father Noel would probably be a Bloke in a Frock with a Cock by now anyway - feel free to use that when you write the sitcom/film for this madness Graham .

Norton thinks he's untouchable. He lives in a luvvy bubble, where he believes he will never be held to account. He definitely has a distain for older women, unless they are actresses who can help him out. I imagine he has all kinds of issues from childhood, revolving around his own mother. I have never watched his show, his self-aggrandising persona is a real turn-off for this middle aged, invisible woman!

What Norton doesn't know is that gay men are the next in the march of the cult to be thrown under the bus after the destruction of womens and children's rights. I hope they get you first Norton you ciward

Gay men are being defined out of existence by the likes of Stonewall. Gay youth are being sterilised, brainwashed, and mutilated. Gay history rewritten, language stolen, and spaces captured. Gay culture is being used to promote homophobic ideology. Gay men are being labelled transphobes, genital fetishists, and bigots for not wanting to sleep with women. The public opinion of gay men that took decades of grassroots work to build up is being destroyed. So gay men are very much currently being thrown under the bus and he should know this.
