Thank god for your Good News editions because sometimes it’s all just too depressing. Lies and distortions everywhere you turn. I don’t know how you keep up the mental stamina to continue reporting this stuff Graham. But I’m very glad you do! Thank you 🙏

Here in the U.S. women in prison are considered disposable garbage. Feminist Current carried a piece years ago about how women in prison are treated far more harshly than men in prison. And if a group of women attacked some dude who insisted on being in a women's prison, GOOD FOR THEM!! I've wondered why women haven't done this.

Something no one thinks about: there are many fewer women’s prisons than men’s. That means that women can’t ask a judge to be housed close to her family, like men can. It means she gets what she gets, and it may be a drive of many hours or even days, if she’s in the federal system.

I have to say that many men as well are housing at great distances from their communities. How about Oregon? Oh-so-liberal and they farm prisoners out to private prisons in other states.

Is that video from The Onion? I can’t believe that was broadcast to the public as anything but satire. If it isn’t satire, I think I’ll just bend over and kiss my own arse goodbye. VERY creepy.

Yeah, a terrible storyline, such a distortion of the truth.

I'm a Scouser, and, to be fair, we do use the term 'trannies' in warm-hearted way. The 'Lady Seanne', that he mentions, is actually a friend of mine..... Shaun, he's a drag-queen, and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

My MP never replies. . . BUT I write to them anyway. Can we write to the Ministry of Justice? The Home secretary?! Has anyone already composed a letter. . . which could be shared and we could all send to our MPs enmass?

Good job Hollyoaks on raising awareness for something that never happens. 🙄

They probably also have the audacity to place one of those "if you've been affected by the issues raised in tonight's episode, go online for support at www..." comments at the end.

Does it have a content warning? This episode contains scenes of incredulous fiction, cognitive dissonance is advised.

Blimey. That was a lot of scrolling through shitty statements. It just kept going and going. In the same inexplicable way as Hollyoaks tbh

This story is from back in April but very relevant to this topic. US based story but still worrying that similar is probably happening here with inaccurate reporting of statistics.

ACLU blocks woman's request for data on numbers of transgender inmates in women's prisons

WoLF is fighting the injunction, which aims to prevent the public from obtaining information about the number of male prisoners currently housed in women's prisons.
