The NHS Rainbow Badge Scheme is a Stonewall-devised taxpayer-funded initiative in which ‘NHS staff who have pledged to provide support and signposting to LGBT+ people’ are rewarded with a badge to wear.
I work in the NHS, this infuriates me. I was contacted by the EDI lead last week, after 2 years of badgering he has finally updated the trust trans policy (the current one is 12 years old and draft). I asked if anybody else would be able to see it, I was told no, it has been seen by the trust 'networks', i.e the closed LGBT network, who are apparently really pleased with it (I'm sure they are!). How can it be going to consultation if not everybody gets to see it and give feedback at this stage? I feel tired of fighting this on my own within my trust, but I also wont give up. I kicked up a fuss about the single sex wards policy allowing non binary males and TW into female wards. Staff are just still too scared to speak up and speak the truth. The fact that you have highlighted the idiot who is running the NHS rainbow badge scheme account is both shocking but also not suprising. Lets hope somebody higher up sees some sense.....wont hold by breath.
It isn't a surprise. I'd been wondering when the actual figures would come out, because it is known that, left to their own devices, most young people realise they aren't "trans", but same-sex attracted or just non-conforming to gender roles. Two points of concern are raised by this:
1. How many of those that continue really want to, and what are the pressures upon them?
2. Do we really want the people who drop out of this "treatment" to be followed up so that their "mental health" can be checked? We know that, in TRA-speak, this means the people who have deviated from the one true path will be "encouraged" back onto it. They are probably better off left alone.
Inevitable really. It must so bloody difficult and scary to keep resisting, particularly if you haven’t got much seniority or power in the workplace.
At least with online stuff you can kind of say something like “I just don’t use social media in that way” if someone confronts you about not having a special avatar or whatever to support a cause. Not so easy to think of a neutral script for deflecting bullies in real life.
Informative as ever but, just fwiw, I’m struggling a bit with all the “XYZ has fallen” post titles lately; it’s such a doomy form of words and seeing them in my inbox makes me feel a bit hopeless and beaten rather than motivated to read and discuss and resist.
Maybe it’s just me; I am having a tough couple of months tbf. But it strikes me that an unintended effect of using this wording again and again might be to put some people off reading the actual posts (which often turn out to contain small nuggets of hope if you persevere).
Anyway. Clearly these badges are a stupid and terrible idea.
Fed up with them wasting money when our taxes are increasing, also how have they the time to get involved in this nonsense? Most people’s workplaces tend to be full on with no breaks most days. This has got to stop
Do the NHS have a badge to show who has pledged to provide support and signposting to people with poor mental health, or neurodiverse people? What about the elderly, minority ethnic, or Jewish people? Why one characteristic, when you would hope all NHS workers are trained to treat *everyone* with the same care and respect? Which of course, they generally do. This isn’t about who pledges, but who doesn’t, because if everyone pledges, what’s the point? You could just put up a patient charter encompassing ALL the characteristics and save money. Is there any evidence that LGBT people are treated less favourably in the NHS? This is not for LGB either, just the T, as Stonewall is written all over this.
Using the publics money who has zero say in where our taxes go is scandalous - the managers at the NHS who are already being paid far too much sign off on these without a moments hesitation as ITS NOT THEIR MONEY!!
I don't understand the use of the word "fallen." Fallen most commonly implies the failure of a military campaign when a city or an area has "fallen" to the enemy, for instance, not an increase or a doubling down in the policies adhered to to date by an entity such as the NHS.
I don't mind the term at all...it's use underlines just how fragile these organisations are to conformity by intimidation and subservience by fear. What worries me more is the ability of these organisations to get up again.
This should be exposed as a corrupt organisation, which has for years, insisted on membership of its LGBTQ+ organisation, Stonewall, the GIDS, the Rainbow Badge Scheme etc.etc. Who is going to take them to court as a pseudo charity organisation, which insists on paid membership from unions, school organisations, govt departments, govt. services, trades etc.etc. It was operating as a pseudo nazi party in the way it infiltrated all public organisations!
It's a shame Ladbrookes wouldn't take my bet when I said I'd give it two years tops before there's some sinister fusing of the NHS covid rainbow imagery and some lgbTTTTTT scheme. I wonder how many people badge up to this or respond positively to this because they think its in support of the service during covid?
Your point is a good one. I understand other uses for the term other than the one I highlighted: falling for a scam, for instance. The language is muddy in this case when other language could more clearly relate what is meant and it's become something of a meme which is further muddying matters.
These men live in a porn fuelled fantasy world. They are average looking blokes who have an overinflated view of themselves.
But carry on boys because it just makes the case...that none of you should ever be in women and girls spaces.

That's a huge rate of people dropping the gender affirmation path! Wow!

The study about the large potential detransitioning rate is huge news too!
There's apparently already been incidents in Scotland of people being questioned about why they refuse to wear the badge.
I wouldn’t wear one embarrassing

“Be braver today than you were yesterday” (Maya F)- there’s a shortage of workers too people will start voting with their feet

Agree it seems a bit catastrophic
Wondering if it is to do with google and how it ranks so more people read it?

"This isn’t about who pledges, but who doesn’t"
That is exactly it! ^^^ 👋
As the GP put it, these are Stasi tactics.

How many parasitic organisations like this has the NHS got hanging off them?

It used to be an evidence based/ scientific organisation - acting as if their brains fallen out

Some people still think the government cares whether or not you die from covid
