The NHS Rainbow Badge Scheme is a Stonewall-devised taxpayer-funded initiative in which ‘NHS staff who have pledged to provide support and signposting to LGBT+ people’ are rewarded with a badge to wear.
This may sound like infantilising nonsense, which of course it is, but many, including doctors, find the scheme sinister, particularly the pressure that comes with it to participate. One GP said an identical scheme in Scotland would make more sense if it was run by the Stasi, while Lord Moonie, the Labour peer, called it “a scandalous waste of scarce resources at a time when every penny should be going towards recovery from the Covid-19 epidemic”.
Nonetheless, a few days ago NHS Rainbow Badge revealed that NHS England has provided further funding for the scheme, so that another 40 NHS trusts can ‘undertake the NHS Rainbow Badge assessment model’.
Amid tweets about how successful this badge scheme is, a Twitter account asked them if the ‘terf’ responsible for a change in information in a trans programme had been fired.
Incredibly, despite this being stated just a week after Ofcom acknowledged that ‘terf’ is an offensive slur, NHS Rainbow Badge - an NHS account with 14,000 followers - replied: ‘Its an understandable but incorrect assumption that a terf was responsible’.
An adult then finally entered the room, in the form of Conservative MP Jackie Doyle-Price, which led to NHS Rainbow Badge deleting the tweet.
But it’s not just the wording that’s shocking.
Let’s look at the man behind the tweet. He is an older trans-identified male who is working hard to rebrand as a Katy Montgomerie figure after a career in Twitter porn didn’t quite work out (although it did help him to afford the ‘huge tits’ he’s recently been measured for). ‘Kate’ is a grifter and attention fiend who feels very sorry for himself and regularly berates the trans community and his own followers for failing to give his heavily filtered and disturbing photos their due. He particularly despises the LGB Alliance and has posted libellous statements about them in the hope that he’ll be noticed.
When desperate individuals such a this have the ear of the NHS during its biggest crisis, they really are in trouble.
Meanwhile, on the same day that the NHS Rainbow Badge revealed that it had secured even more public funding, an academic study was published on NHS gender identity clinic users between 2017 and 2018. It found that 43.9 per cent of patients did not complete their treatment and concludes that the patients 'may have unmet [mental health] needs' and “detransitioning might be more frequent than previously reported”. Surely the money and time invested in making crappy rainbow badges would be better used to investigate this issue?
These men live in a porn fuelled fantasy world. They are average looking blokes who have an overinflated view of themselves.
But carry on boys because it just makes the case...that none of you should ever be in women and girls spaces.
I work in the NHS, this infuriates me. I was contacted by the EDI lead last week, after 2 years of badgering he has finally updated the trust trans policy (the current one is 12 years old and draft). I asked if anybody else would be able to see it, I was told no, it has been seen by the trust 'networks', i.e the closed LGBT network, who are apparently really pleased with it (I'm sure they are!). How can it be going to consultation if not everybody gets to see it and give feedback at this stage? I feel tired of fighting this on my own within my trust, but I also wont give up. I kicked up a fuss about the single sex wards policy allowing non binary males and TW into female wards. Staff are just still too scared to speak up and speak the truth. The fact that you have highlighted the idiot who is running the NHS rainbow badge scheme account is both shocking but also not suprising. Lets hope somebody higher up sees some sense.....wont hold by breath.
