The Myth Of 'Both Sides'
Only ONE side is intent on silencing the other using threats, intimidation and violence. And it isn't the feminists
Commentators on the gender debate are fond of the ‘both sides’ trope. But it is a myth. In truth, only one side is trying to impose a political dogma on the other using intimidation, violence and the forcible suppression of any opposition.
Examples follow.
2014 & Beyond - ‘Kill All TERFs’
Almost as soon as the debate around gender ideology began, the response on social media was an outpouring of unbridled rage, aggression and misogyny. So frequently the reaction to any discussion has involved graphic descriptions of raping, mutilating and murdering women. The website, Terf is a Slur, has documented hundreds of examples of these disturbingly violent posts.
September 2017 - Speakers Corner & Maria MacLachlan
At the outset of the discussions around self ID legislation, a group called We Need to Talk was set up to facilitate debate. At every turn, their attempts to schedule talks and meetings were attacked by trans activists intent on sabotage.
In September 2017 WNTT tried to set up a discussion at a local library in Lewisham, London. It was to include two representatives from Stonewall, lesbian feminist activist and writer, Dr Julia Long, and transsexual writer and women’s rights ally, Miranda Yardley. Just days before the event the Stonewall speakers decided to withdraw. Then, with virtually no notice, the venue had to cancel, having been bombarded with protestations, mainly from the Lewisham LGBT and Goldsmiths LGBT societies. (So-called LGBT groups trying to no-platform a lesbian and a transsexual… you couldn’t make it up.)
Luckily, organisers were offered a last-minute replacement venue at the University Women’s Club in Audley Square. To protect the club from the same harassment as the library received, it was decided that the venue would be kept a secret. Attendees would rendezvous in Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park where they would be informed of the address. Trans activists got wind of this plan and turned up to Hyde Park, trying to discover the location of the meeting. They tried to intimidate attendees with puerile shouting and chanting and followed people as they set off to the venue.
It was at this gathering in Hyde Park that the now-infamous attack on Maria Maclachlan took place. Maria, a 60 year old woman, was punched in the face by a 26-year-old trans-identified male, Tara Flik Wood. He would later be found guilty of assault at Hendon Magistrate’s Court.
I was at this meeting and met other attendees in Hyde Park to await information. I left for the venue with my friend, Miranda Yardley, who was one of the speakers. We were followed for several hundred yards by a group of trans activists who walked extremely closely behind us. They also flanked us on either side, stepping in front of us when we tried to pick up speed. It was clearly going to be impossible to shake them off on foot so we dove into a passing black cab.
The meeting at the University Women’s Club in Audley Square did go ahead but had to be curtailed. A gang of trans activists gathered outside the building and they chanted and screamed throughout the talks. According to a member of staff, they were intimidating club members, mostly elderly ladies, yelling at them as they came and went. Local residents complained about the noise and the police were called. Staff at the venue, though sympathetic, were understandably concerned and asked organisers to cut the event short. We had to leave. The mobsters tried to harass us as we left. Calm and reasonable Miranda Yardley attempted to speak with them but they refused to engage and continued to scream their slogans. So much for ‘listen to trans people’.
November 2017 - Social Justice Warrior Attacked at Book Fair
Helen Steel is a lifelong feminist, social justice and environmental campaigner, a Greenham Common and Greenpeace veteran and the brave woman at the centre of the McLibel case and the ‘spy cops’ scandal.
Attending the London anarchist bookfair she expressed her support for two women who had been distributing gender critical leaflets there. As a result she was surrounded and intimidated by a mob of trans activists who verbally abused her and shouted lies about her. She described her frightening experience in a blog post.
“I was surrounded for over an hour by a baying mob of around 30 trans activists who shouted misogynistic abuse in my face and at others, and who would not leave me alone. This included: ugly Terf, fucking Terf scum, bitch, fascist and more…
I saw a man’s hand moving towards my face and when it was within inches of my face I blocked it and pushed his arm away. He then started shouting that I had assaulted him and I should be thrown out. Some of those in the baying mob tried to stoke anger and division by calling me a snitch.”
March 2018 - Spooking Millwall Football Club
During the months which followed the initial We Need to Talk meeting, further attempts by the group to host discussions around gender identity ideology were thwarted by trans activists. Meetings in York (November 2017) and Glasgow (February 2018) were planned but, on both occasions, the venues were forced to cancel following pressure from trans activists.
In March 2018 We Need to Talk made another attempt to host a discussion and hired a conference room at Millwall Footwall Club.
However, Millwall cancelled the event. Organiser, Venice Allan, told The Times that the venue had been ‘really spooked’ by the relentless harassment it had received. She said, “I got a call from the club saying they'd never seen anything like it - constant phone calls, emails, tweets.”
March 2018 - Violence on the Picket Line
In March 2018 a female trade unionist was attacked on her own picket line by trans activists just because she had attended at a Woman’s Place UK meeting.
Paula Lamont, an elected member of Bectu sector executive committee, was on a Bectu Picturehouse picket line when she was surrounded by a mob of trans activists who shouted at her and swore in her face. She felt so intimidated she was forced to leave the picket line for her own safety and said the incident left her very shaken.
It seems that one of those involved was Tara Flik Wood, the same man who attacked Maria MacLachlan in Hyde Park.
April 2018 - The Siege in the Jam Jar
In April 2018 We Need to Talk organised a meeting at a Bristol venue called the Jam Jar. It was a ticket-only event featuring speakers Dr Heather Brunskell-Evans and Miranda Yardley. Despite the inclusion of transsexual speaker, trans activists, mostly masked and clad in black, tried to sabotage the event. They not only protested outside the venue, they forced their way inside and refused to leave. They physically blocked a staircase and prevented attendees from getting to the meeting.
Veteran feminist campaigner and women’s rights activist, Julie Bindel, was one of the women prevented from entering. She shot this video of the mob on the stairs who were barring her way.
Heather Brunskell-Evans wrote about this frightening experience for The Morning Star: “I found myself trapped in a stairwell by masked trans activists who believed me to be the oppressor… I appealed to the activist nearest me but he refused eye contact… I feared the injuries I might sustain if pushed downstairs; I looked down on myself being obstructed from speaking by a man almost young enough to be my grandson.”
June 2018 - The Bomb Threat in Hastings
Woman’s Place UK organised a meeting in Hastings. One of the speakers was Kristina Jayne Harrison.
Despite the inclusion of a trans speaker, trans activists made bomb threats on social media which the police took seriously enough to investigate.
August 2019 - Vandalising a Rape Crisis Centre
Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Centre (VRRWC) is the oldest rape crisis centre in the city and has been providing women who’ve suffered male violence a safe space in which to heal for decades.
Because it is strictly female-only, it lost the city council funding it had received for years thanks, in no small part, to the influence of trans activist, Morgan Ogre.
But even the withdrawal of the centre’s funding did not assuage Vancouver’s gender zealots. The VRRWC was now marked out for attack. In August 2019 trans activists nailed a dead rat to its front door.
A few days later the centre was vandalised with threats and insults - “Fuck TERFs” and “Kill TERFs” - being scrawled on the windows.
September 2019 - Let Women Speak in Brighton
Feminist campaign group, Woman's Place UK, held a meeting in Brighton to coincide with the Labour Party Conference.
Conference delegates and members of the public were invited to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto on women's rights and issues. The speakers were Dani Ahrens, founding member of Brighton Pride and Labour activist, Kay Green, socialist activist, Onjali Rauf, founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory' (an organisation which tackles the abuse and trafficking of women and girls worldwide) and Kiri Tunks, trade unionist and founder of Woman’s Place UK.
Prior to the event London Young Labour was using social media to smear WPUK and incite people to join a protest against their meeting.
Just hours before the meeting, the venue cancelled the booking, saying they could not guarantee the security of the building given the scale of the planned protest. Luckily, WPUK had booked an alternative venue which they were able to use.
As the organisers arrived at the venue, they were met by a small group of protesters who tried to photograph them.
The protest grew substantially until at least 100 trans activists, some of them masked, gathered at the venue. They blocked both entrances and tried to intimidate attendees. Some women reported physical contact, projectiles and having water thrown on them. One young woman, a PhD student, suffered a panic attack.
The security team WPUK had hired managed to ensure the venue was safe but ticket holders had to brave a narrow corridor surrounded by aggressive protesters taking photos, shouting “Scum!”, “TERF!” and “Shame on you!” in their faces.
It was clearly a very frightening experience for many attendees.
Even once the event was underway, the thugs outside hammered on and kicked the windows. They also continued to shout abuse for the duration of the meeting.
January 2020 - Threatening an Academic on Campus
In January 2020 a female academic at Oxford University required a security detail at her workplace because of the threats made against her by trans activists.
Professor Selina Todd, whose research focuses on feminism and working class life in modern Britain, fell foul of trans activists after speaking at a WPUK event.
Death threats were made against her by trans activists on an online student network. The university investigated these threats and found them credible enough to arrange security for Professor Todd for the remainder of the year.
June 2020 - Death Threats for Children’s Author
On Saturday 6th June 2020, JK Rowling tweeted a lighthearted objection to women being described as 'People who menstruate' in an article about periods.
Sometime later she made further comments stating that she supported the rights of any trans person to live the way they wish, but that denying sex is real erases the experiences of women and those who are same-sex attracted.
Of course, this made her an immediate target for trans activists and there was an instant outpouring of rape and death threats.
A few days later JK Rowling issued a statement, laying out her concerns about gender identity ideology; the erosion of biological sex in favour of 'gender'; the rocketing numbers of young girls seeking help at gender clinics; the removal of rigorous safeguarding processes for those who want to transition and the possibility that intact males who've made no medical or physical changes can apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate and legally be women.
JK Rowling then explained why she understands only too well the reality of biological sex; she had survived domestic violence and sexual assault. “I refuse to bow down to a movement that I believe is doing demonstrable harm in seeking to erode ‘woman’ as a political and biological class and offering cover to predators like few before it.”
Notwithstanding her being a woman who has survived male violence, JK Rowling has been harassed and insulted and inundated with threats to her safety, her family and her life. She has, she said, received enough death threats to paper her home.
August 2020 - Feminist Space Stolen & Vandalised
Trans activists sabotaged and vandalised a feminist campaign focusing on male violence against women and hounded its founder out of her own home.
Marguerite Stern is a Paris-based artist and feminist campaigner. In 2019 she founded Collages Feminicide, a movement drawing attention to male violence against women through street art. It didn’t take long for trans activists to try and sabotage the movement, advocating violence against those involved.
‘L’Amazone’ was a female-only space Stern set up in which women could meet and organise. Trans activists broke in, changed the locks, shut out the women who had met there and vandalised their artwork. They even defaced a work honouring a dead woman who had been murdered by her male partner by plastering over it with a crude drawing of a penis.
February 2021 - Spain’s New Dictatorship
Spanish trans activists hung an effigy of Spain’s First Vice President, Carmen Calvo, by the neck from a tree.
Carmen Salvo was one of the Spanish politicians who spoke out against proposed self ID laws and signed a document outlining the dangers of such legislation. She was consequently targeted by Spain’s gender stasi, seemingly with prominent trans activist, Mar Cambrollé, and the Trans Platform Federation, leading the charge.
According to Spanish publication, El Común, Trans Platform Federation marked out Carmen Calvo as being ‘for it’ and demanded her resignation.
The chilling spectacle of a Calvo effigy hanging by the neck from a tree appeared in the early hours on Friday 19th February 2021 in Spain’s Galicia region.
The sign reads “I am lost where is the patriarchy?”.
March 2021 - Broken Bones in Montreal
Chris Elston, known as ‘Billboard Chris’, is the father of two daughters and a prominent child protection activist from Vancouver. He campaigns against the prescribing of puberty blockers to minors.
Elston estimates that he has been assaulted around twenty times by trans activists while protesting the unnecessary medicalisation of vulnerable children. In March 2021, while campaigning peacefully on a Montreal street, he was attacked by masked thugs who stole his billboard and camera, punched him in the face and head and broke his arm.
In the footage of the incident, you can hear one of the attackers shout “Transphobes fuck off!” at him.
Right before they did this.
March 2021 - Feminists Physically Assaulted in Paris
Radical feminist campaigner, Marguerite Stern, was physically assaulted while campaigning in Paris against the sexual exploitation of women.
Stern was in Paris as part of an organised demonstration and, yet again, she became a target for trans activists.
Not only were she and her fellow feminists (some of whom were sex trade survivors) physically attacked, but someone threw an egg in her face.
The red graffiti reads “SAVE A TRANS KILL A TERF”.
April 2021 - Feminists Intimidated In Melbourne
Supporters of a feminist academic were harassed by aggressive trans activists on campus at Melbourne University.
Dr Holly Lawford-Smith is an associate professor at the University of Melbourne. She has spoken out about the dangers of gender identity ideology and set up a website, No Conflict They Said, to collate stories from women and girls who have been impacted by trans-related laws and policies. As a result she has been subjected to a campaign of harassment and bullying by trans activists.
A group of trans activists organised a protest at Melbourne University, calling for Dr Lawford-Smith to be sacked. Several of her supporters attended and were verbally abused and intimidated. Trans activists threw water and swore at the women assembled, insulted them, screamed “Fuck off terf!” and called them c*nts. One trans-identified male shouted continually into a woman’s face with a loud hailer.
August 2021 - Police Escort for Gay Man at Pride
A young gay man attended Manchester Pride where he suffered abuse and damage to his property and had to be escorted from the event by police for his own safety. All because his LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt upset a vituperative gang of trans activists.
Alexander Bramham was at Manchester Pride, wearing a hat and t-shirt bearing the LGB Alliance logo. While he was attending a march to protest cuts to LGB+ charities, his hat was stolen and he was abused and attacked to such an extent that police had to remove him for his own safety.
People on Twitter were congratulating themselves that a gay man was subjected to violent and abusive behaviour at a Pride event.
October 2021 - Hounding an Academic off Campus
Trans activists tried to hound Professor Kathleen Stock, a lesbian feminist academic, out of her job because they don’t approve of her views on sex and gender.
Kathleen Stock is a philosophy professor at Sussex University. She’s also a feminist, lesbian, trustee of the LGB Alliance and author of Material Girls: Why Reality Matters for Feminism, a critique of gender identity ideology.
She suffered an ongoing campaign of bullying, intimidation and sustained threats to her career from trans activists. The constant threats to her personal safety resulted in her being advised to install cameras at her home and to use bodyguards when on campus and in the police putting a priority marker on her phone.
An anonymous group calling itself ‘Anti Terf Sussex’ and apparently dedicated to the harassment and bullying of Professor Stock seems to have instigated the campaign against her.
Online it accused Professor Stock of being “Anti-feminist, anti-queer and anti-intellectual” and “One of this wretched island’s most prominent transphobes”.
Posters appeared around the university campus alleging that Professor Stock somehow makes trans students ‘unsafe’ and demanding that she be fired.
Trans activists also demonstrated outside her workplace, demanding she be fired from her job.
‘Anti Terf Sussex’ posted a photograph to its Instagram account of (presumably) group members, wearing a guerrilla-style face coverings, letting off smoking flares and holding a banner reading ‘Stock out’.
It concluded with an ominous warning to the university; “Our demand is simple: Fire Kathleen Stock. Until then, you’ll see us around.”
Kathleen Stock eventually felt compelled to resign from the University of Sussex as she did not feel able to continue working there.
September 2021 - Trying to Set Lesbians Alight
A trans-identified male with a lit flare attacked a group of lesbians celebrating their same-sex attraction at Bordeaux Pride.
In the footage of the parade, the male can clearly be seen rushing the group as they marched, brandishing a smoking flare, and waving it in women’s faces.
October 2021 - Feminist Conference Told “Suck My Dick”
Trans activists protested the FiLiA conference in Portsmouth and “Behaved like they wanted a war”.
FiLiA is a female-led volunteer organisation with charitable status which works to promote women’s rights . Its annual conference focuses on ending male violence against and male oppression of women and girls.
Of course, an event centred on female issues is unconscionable to trans activists who showed up in droves at the Guildhall in Portsmouth to rage against it.
In evidence were the now familiar insults, anger and naked aggression. Placards threatening sexual violence and featuring misogynistic slurs were brandished outside the venue while women spoke of rape and domestic abuse inside.
Predictably, most of the people involved were males.
At the end of the event, there was a vigil to honour the victims of femicide at which the women killed by male violence over the past year were remembered.
Thanks to trans activists, this heart-breaking memorial had to take place on a pavement defaced with violent, misogynistic graffiti.
November 2021 - Attack on Feminists in Brussels
Belgian feminist campaigners protesting male violence against women were physically attacked by trans activists.
A small group of women took part in a march in Brussels to protest male violence and carried signs decrying pornography and prostitution. Before long they were surrounded by a group of about 50 trans activists and forced into a corner.
Women at the march reported being ‘beaten, insulted and intimidated’. Trans activists chanted ‘cassez vous’ (‘fuck you’), shouted ‘TERF’ at them and destroyed their signs. One woman even spoke of being kicked in the back.
April 2022 - Fantasising About Male Violence Against Women
A newly released horror novel depicted the brutal murders of gender critical feminists by trans-identified males.
Manhunt is an ‘LGBTQ horror’ novel authored by trans-identified male, Gretchen Felker-Martin.
The book is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and involves two trans-identified males hunting down and killing women described as ‘the knights of JK Rowling’ and ‘TERF soldiers’. The ‘Queen TERF’ militant leader is described with a reference to MichFest, the women-only music festival that was shut down by trans activists, and the death of JK Rowling is treated as a subject for entertainment.
Felker-Martin seems obsessed with JK Rowling, especially with ‘shutting her up’.
His novel features various sexual themes and one of the male protagonists becomes aroused while murdering a ‘TERF’ and there is a particularly disturbing scene towards the end of the book in which a black woman has her womb cut out.
Felker-Martin, by his own admission, has never written anything that doesn’t feature ‘at least one rape scene’.
Yet women are called bigots and transphobes when we try to explain why we don’t want to share our intimate spaces with trans-identified males.
May 2022 - Bookshop Burning in Barcelona
Trans activists in Barcelona attacked and threatened to burn down a local book store because it hosted the authors of a book of which they disapprove.
Psychology professors, José Errasti and Marino Pérez Álvarez, authored a book called No One is Born in the Wrong Body which was published earlier in the year. It questions the dogma of gender identity ideology, in particular its reliance on sex stereotypes.
A Barcelona bookshop, Casa de Libra, hosted an event at which the authors presented and discussed their work.
The event was besieged and disrupted by violent trans activists who tried to force their way into the building, clashing with police in the attempt.
Speaking to News Europe 24, José Errasti said that trans activists had threatened to burn down the bookshop with the attendees still inside.
As can be seen in the photographs and video posted by Jessica Fillol, some of the trans activists were armed with sticks and bats.
The event did go ahead but had to be curtailed early on police instruction with attendees asked to vacate the premises for security reasons.
This tweet contains video footage of police officers escorting attendees out of the store and protecting them from the trans activists outside.
According to the report in News Euro 24, the two authors were instructed to remain inside the bookshop with the window blinds drawn for their own safety. They had to wait for approximately 45 minutes for the mob outside to disperse before police could allow them to leave.
March 2022 - Let Women Speak in Manchester #1
Trans activists descended on and tried to disrupt a feminist meeting in Manchester, attempting to intimidate the attendees and silence the speakers.
Woman's Place UK, organised a meeting at the Mechanic’s Institute in Manchester. It was called ‘The importance and future of single-sex provision in policy and law’. The aim was to discuss the potential impact of proposed legislation on women’s single-sex spaces, services, quotas and competition.
Obviously, women meeting to discuss their rights could not be tolerated by the city’s trans activists and a large gang of protesters gathered. Chanting “Terf scum off our streets”, they marched from St Peter’s Square to the venue.
Those in attendance reported there were around 200 protesters and that many of them were young males.
They gathered in the street chanting “Terfs get off our fucking turf”.
They surrounded the venue and, using a tannoy, chanted slogans such as “Fuck terfs!” and “Woman’s place is a place of hate".
Someone in the crowd recognised Alex Bramham who was merely there as a quiet onlooker. They booed and chanted ‘Tory wanker’ at a gay man who had not even spoken to them.
They also chanted a few choruses of “All cops are bastards” at the police officers on duty at the protest.
But then they resumed harassing feminists, screaming “Terfs off our turf”.
Many of those attending the meeting reported that it was difficult to hear the speakers in the venue over the noise of the mob outside.
Amongst those speaking was Maggy Moyo, a lesbian from Zimbabwe who sought asylum in the UK and is now a human rights campaigner. She talked about the FGM and forced abortion suffered by women in Zimbabwe. Another speaker was Judith Green, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse who works in women’s health. Both described the vital importance of female-only spaces to traumatised women.
These are the women at whom the protesters screamed ‘fascist’ and tried to intimidate into silence; an African lesbian persecuted for her sex and a survivor of male sexual violence.
According to The Daily Mail, after the meeting police had to move the crowd apart so that women could leave the venue in safety. Some attendees reported that a police escort was required as they left.
May 2022 - Let Women Speak In Manchester #2
Kellie-Jay Keen (‘Posie Parker’) organised a Standing For Women ‘Speaker’s Corner’ event at St Peter’s Square in Manchester.
Even several days before the event, trans activists were planning a protest with their usual aggression, smears and hyperbole.
Their ‘protest’ involved a large number of masked, hooded and very obviously male thugs trying to intimidate attendees and disrupt the meeting with blaring music.
This video shows one of the masked activists physically assaulting a lone woman, grabbing and pushing her until one of his own side felt compelled to take action.
She later described the incident on GB News.
Of course, there was ‘no debate’ to be had.
The trans activists surrounded and blocked the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst, preventing anyone from getting close to it.
And they tied a rope in the colours of the trans flag around the neck of this feminist icon.
June 2022 - Let Women Speak In Bristol
Trans activists, hooded and masked, tried to disrupt yet another Standing For Women event, this time in Bristol.
When Kellie-Jay Keen organised a Standing For Women event in Bristol, a large number of protesters, most of them, again, masked and hooded and very obviously male, descended on the venue trying to intimidate attendees and disrupt the meeting.
They screamed abuse and obscenities and some attempted to physically assault the women in attendance.
They screamed “You’re going to die out”, “Get in the sea”, “Fossils” and “Dinosaurs” at the women gathered there. (And, making their misogynistic attitudes very clear, you can also hear one man shouting, “Go home… look after your kids.”)
As usual, the usual aggression and misogyny were self-evident. The trans activists held up signs reading “TERFs can suck my dick” and scrawled slogans such as “Trans girls fuck your mum all the time” and “TERFs can go eat shit” on the pavement.
They shouted “We’ll piss where we like!” and made abusive gestures.
In this video clip, one of the trans activists is writing “Colston - Terfs are next” on the pavement. (Edward Colston was a slave trader. Two years ago a statue of him on Bristol harbour was torn down and hurled into the water.)
After the event, these thugs then followed the women to the pub and continued their campaign of aggression and intimidation by blockading them in the premises.
Even the presence of children did not deter them.
The pub was forced to close and the women there required a police escort in order to leave.
June 2022 - Female Politician Requires Police Escort
A female politician needed a police escort after she was targeted by trans activists at a local Pride event.
Jo Gideon, the Conservative MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central, was attending a Pride event at a local park together with city council leader, Abi Brown. A group of around 20 trans activists, members of the LGBT+ Society at Staffordshire University, surrounded the Conservative tent, chanting slogans and waving placards, to protest the government’s decision not to include those with gender dysphoria in the conversion therapy bill.
Event security and the police were called to attend. Jo Gideon decided to leave the event early and required a police escort. She said that she had been the target of ‘non-stop abuse’ from ‘extremist protesters’, who refused to engage constructively but had vandalised her banner.
“I abhor the actions of several dozen extremist protesters, who blocked the path and surrounded the Conservatives’ LBGTQ+ stand, where Councillor Abi Brown and I stood with a member of my staff. These protesters were shouting non-stop abuse. After waiting for the protest to move on for 30 minutes, I decided the only way to diffuse the situation, and putting people’s safety first, was to leave. I was grateful for a police escort to my car.”
June 2022 - Let Women Speak in Barcelona
A group of feminists gathered in Barcelona to protest male violence against women. Their demonstration was invaded by a group of trans activists who screamed “Kill the TERF” at them.
One trans-identified male waved around a t-shirt reading “KILL THE TERF” right under the nose of a policeman.
The male in question looks very much like a man photographed trying to sabotage a feminist demonstration in Spain last year. And the t-shirt looks familiar, too.
July 2022 - Children’s Memorial Vandalised
Trans activists destroyed a memorial to infants killed by shaken baby syndrome because they deemed its creators to be TERFs.
French feminist group, l’Amazone, was involved the creation of a street mural intended to be a memorial to 14 babies killed by the brain trauma known as shaken baby syndrome (SBS). The group had been invited to help create the collage by three of the grieving mothers whose babies, murdered by their male partners, featured in it. The artwork was to form part of a documentary about SBS in which the mothers were interviewed about their loss.
On 14th July, the director of the documentary, Anne, released a YouTube video expressing her anger that the collage had been vandalised by trans activists. She explained that her camerawoman had caught two people destroying the memorial the previous night and asked them why they would do such a terrible thing. The vandals replied that the collage had been created by ‘transphobic feminists’.
“They didn’t care that this memorial was for the grieving mothers” said Anne. They don’t care about the memory of those babies who died in excruciating pain… they just ransacked it.”
August 2022 - Let Women Speak In Philadelphia
A feminist event in Philadelphia was sabotaged by trans activists who tried to silence and intimidate the women speakers.
A women’s rights group organised a ‘speakers’ corner’ event at Independence Park in Philadelphia. “A gathering of voices where we exercise our right to free speech. All voices are welcome and encouraged.”
Even prior to the event, trans activists planned to encroach upon and sabotage women exercising their legal right to gather and speak. (ACT UP Philadelphia describes itself as a group “Committed to ending the AIDS crisis through direct action”. But how ending the AIDS crisis is achieved by intimidating women into silence is anyone’s guess.)
Only minutes into the event, trans activists descended and, using drums, noise makers, megaphones, chanting and loud music, they tried to drown out the voices of the women speaking.
When feminist campaigner and writer, Kara Danksy, was speaking at the microphone, the activists crowded around her and shouted in her face. One tried to grab the mic she was holding and shouted, “Shut the fuck up” at her. Another walked over and stood right in front or her, giving her a continual ‘thumbs down’ signal as she tried to speak. Others activists screamed “TERFs go home” repeatedly into megaphones.
The police arrived at the scene very soon afterwards.
Kara Dansky told The Post Millennial, “The park police were completely unprepared for what happened. Those protesting us were permitted to grab our signage and our equipment. They were permitted to position themselves physically between us and our camera and to make hand gestures that easily could have become violent assaults”.
August 2022 - Let Women Speak in Port Townsend
A mob of trans activists threatened, intimidated and physically attacked a group of women discussing their need for female spaces.
Port Townsend is a small town on America’s north west coast. In July 2022, 80-year-old resident, Julie Jarman, was in the women’s showers following her regular swim at the local pool. She found that standing right outside her cubicle was a male in a women’s swimming costume who was watching little girls take off their bathing suits.
The male in question turned out to be a pool employee, Clementine Adams, who ‘identifies as a woman’ but has yet to undergo any surgery.
When Julie protested Adam’s presence in the women’s changing room, she was accused of ‘transphobia’ and permanently barred from the pool.
Two weeks later a group of women’s rights campaigners held a press conference called ‘Let Julie Swim’ outside Port Townsend’s city hall. A number of women - many of them seniors - gathered to protest Julie’s banishment and to discuss their concerns about the pool’s policy of allowing male access to the female changing room.
From the outset, the meeting was met with extreme hostility from a large group trans activists. Attendees described a mob of at least 200 people, most of them men, bearing down on about 30-40 women. In the video recording of the event, the vast majority of the voices can be heard are male.
The activists tried to drown out the voices of the women speaking with shouting, jeering, chanting, banging on metal implements and blowing whistles. Their behaviour was extremely intimidating and they closed in on the small circle of women who tried to protect themselves by linking arms. They tore down flags, verbally abused women, snatched and damaged personal property and tried to steal the electrical equipment being used to record and amplify the press conference.
Many women in attendance shared photographs and video footage from the event on social media. They tell their own story. Aggressive men shouting in women’s faces.
In one photograph, a man wearing a t-shirt depicting a lynched Klu Klux Klan member and bearing the slogan ‘Hang in there baby’, jabs his finger in the face of a black woman.
In this video footage, a man can be seen trying to wrestle a woman to the ground and, when he is prevented from doing so, he rips off and steals one of her shoes.
A number of women were physically assaulted at the event, being knocked to the ground or pinned up against a brick wall.
Even 80-year-old Julie Jarman was heckled and jeered at as she tried to speak.
Trans activists tried to grab her microphone and they ripped down the suffragette flags which were hanging behind her.
Port Townsend Free Press journalist, Jim Scarantino, was in attendance and described the event:
“An angry white crowd screaming at a Black woman pleading for civil rights. Threatening her. Intimidating her. Senior women linking arms to protect a rape survivor trying to speak. A lesbian being shouted down by a mostly male mob decked out in Pride colours. A man with an AR-15 imposed over a Trans flag on his ball cap, the impression of a handgun in his left cargo pants pocket, hiding behind sunglasses and a mask.”
September 2022 - The New Homophobia
The Lesbian Strength march and rally in Leeds was disrupted by trans activists.
Same-sex attracted women could not be allowed a couple of hours during which to celebrate their sexuality together.
The protestors were mostly male and frequently masked.
They made offensive gestures and tried to drown out speakers with chanting and noise-making.
Their behaviour was aggressive and intimidatory.
Lesbian Strength organisers had to cancel the march and re-locate the rally.
This is what so-called anti-fascist group thinks of lesbians. So much for ‘inclusivity’.
Only a week later, a septuagenarian LGB rights veteran was physically assaulted by trans activists at a Pride parade in the USA.
Fred Sargeant has a proud history of LGB activism. He was at the original Stonewall riot for its entirety. He was a proposer and organiser of the first gay pride march (then known as the Christopher Street Liberation Day march) in NYC in 1970. He was the original manager of the Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop, the first gay and lesbian bookshop in the world. In 2014, he was honoured by the Heritage of Pride's New York City Pride March and in 2019 he was honoured for his role at Stonewall by the Association des Journalists LGBTQI+'s OUT d'or Awards in Paris. He has spent a lifetime fighting for and defending gay, lesbian & bisexual rights.
He is now 74 years old.
He attended the Burlington Pride parade in Vermont to protest what he describes as ‘their misogyny, homophobia, exclusionary policies and divisiveness’.
He was assaulted, spat on and pushed to the ground by several trans activists. His injuries were serious enough to require hospitalisation and medical treatment. He was hit several times on the back of the head, jabbed in the back with an umbrella and his assailants poured coffee over him.
Fred later described the assault on social media:
“I was met by screaming, multiple assaults, ageist comments, shoving, slaps to the back of my head, pouring coffee on me and repeated attempts to steal my signs. Being unsuccessful in their attempts to disrupt my protest and drive me away, the mob pushed me to the ground as the parade ended, further injuring me. They stole or damaged more than $550 worth of my property.”
He spoke about his attack in an interview with Graham.
September 2022 - Let Women Speak In Brighton
Kellie-Jay Keen held a Standing For Women meeting in Brighton. Trans activists turned up and employed their usual tactics of meaningless noise, intimidation and aggression to try and silence women’s voices.
There were a lot of angry men.
Many of them wore masks and gloves and even, in some cases, balaclavas.
They threw smoke bombs into the crowd.
They tried to a silence a victim of sexual abuse speaking about her experience.
One of them screamed bad language and abuse at a baby in its father’s arms.
Three trans rights activists were arrested. Police told The Brighton Argus “A woman and two men were arrested; one on suspicion of assault, one on suspicion of obstructing a police officer and one on suspicion of sexual assault by touching.”
It looks like one of those arrested has a conviction for antisemitic graffiti.
One of the (male) trans activists arrested was found to be carrying a knife.
October 2022 - Let Women Speak in Portland
Kellie-Jay Keen took Standing For Women to the USA, bringing the ‘speakers corner’ events to locations across the country.
The scheduled event in Portland on 24th October was subject to credible threats of violence, specifically against Kellie-Jay, by trans activists and Antifa members. Portland Police informed Kellie-Jay that they were unable to offer any protection for women attending the demonstration. For her safety and that of other women, it was decided to cancel the event.
The Post Millennial reported on a trans-identified male Antifa leader making public his intention to disrupt the Portland meeting with violence.
Isabel Rosa Araujo, formerly known as Philip Vincent Haskins-Delici, is a Portland-based Antifa militant in his late 30s. He has a history of extremism and two years ago was reportedly involved in pepper-spraying people at a protest in Portland.
Araujov made public his plan to attack the Standing For Women meeting in Portland and was openly fund-raising to purchase weaponry.
He had prepared a shopping list which involved pepper spray, a 26 inch collapsible baton and a Bowie knife.
Crowing about the cancellation of the event, Araujov instructed his followers to ‘Smash On Sight’.
And he continued to make threats and issue instructions of violence; “Have you considered other projectiles to take a TERF out? …Make TERFs afraid again”.
Despite the official event being cancelled, a few brave women did gather to speak in Portland. They were attacked by a group of hooded yobs, one of whom assaulted a young woman while she was talking about the need for female-only rape crisis centres.
October 2022 - Let Women Speak in Tacoma
When Kellie-Jay Keen took Standing For Women to Tacoma, there were violent attacks on attendees by trans activists.
Despite credible death threats made by Antifa extremists against Kellie-Jay in Portland, Tacoma police had refused to provide a presence for the event. From the outset, protestors stood around the top of the amphitheater at which the event was being held. They waved trans pride flags and signs that read ‘crash the cis-tem’ and ‘no terfs in T town’. They tried to drown out the speakers with chants of ‘no hate here’ and ‘go home terfs’.
While Lierre Keith, founder of the Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF), was speaking at the mic, a male in a short skirt suddenly surged towards her yelling, “Get the fuck out of here!”. It seemed as if he intended to physically assault her but was prevented from doing so by a quick-thinking attendee.
Eventually, trying to avoid being drowned out by the noise, attendees moved to the opposite side of the amphitheater. However, the protestors followed them there.
Toward the end of the event, trans activists surrounded and attacked a woman called April who is a lesbian and in middle-age.
She was injured during the attack.
April suffered broken fingers and her phone was damaged.
Explaining what had happened after the event, Kellie-Jay said that April’s fingers had been deliberately crushed by a man’s bare hands. “He literally got her hand in his and crushed it and broke her fingers”.
November 2022 - Let Women Speak in New York
Violent trans activists attacked a Standing For Women meeting in New York
Even before the meeting, trans activists and Antifa groups made public their determination to derail the event and prevent women from speaking.
They advertised their intention using an image of a huge boot stamping on a group of women, one of whom is holding a sign reading “I had this coming”.
Just prior to the start of the event, Kellie-Jay Keen had to announce via YouTube that she was unable to attend as she could not safely reach the speaking podium. A large number of aggressive demonstrators had gathered around the location at City Hall and she would have had to pass through this crowd to reach the podium.
Large numbers of trans activists and Antifa members gathered around the female speakers who were trying to express their concerns about the effects of gender ideology on women’s rights and on child safeguarding. The demonstrators grew so aggressive and threatening that the authorities were forced to set up barricades to separate them from the women attending the event.
According to The Post Millennial, a woman who was recording the event from City Hall said of the trans activists, “They have been pushing back the barricade. They have shoved, attacked, pushed, pulled, I’ve been assaulted several times already this morning”.
Journalists Libby Emmons and Brendan Gutenschwager were in attendance and documented the violent and intimidating behaviour of the trans activists. They reported that demonstrators spat at women, chanted insults and slogans, tried to drown out women’s voices by making noise with whistles, bells, drums and alarms, fought with NYPD officers, breached the barricades and followed and threatened the female attendees.
Shocking footage of two particular trans-identified males went viral on social media. Both were topless and continually grabbed and fondled their own ‘breasts’ whilst gesturing and screaming at women attending the event.
One of these trans-identified males is model and ‘social media influencer’, Amara Gisele Jones Velasquez, formerly known as Anthony Martucci. Attempting to threaten women’s rights campaigner, Jeanna Hoch, Velasquez screamed repeatedly at her, “I’m going to beat your ass, bitch! These hands do not discriminate!” He then yelled, “These titties are way more real than you would ever be, bitch. I got body. No man wants you”.
Velasquez was recorded screaming “I will fuck you up, bitch!” and spitting at other women in attendance.
He was also recorded harassing and screaming at Stonewall and human rights veteran, Jim Fouratt.
Velasquez yelled “Fucking faggot!” and “Dumbass bitch!” in the face of a 77-year-old man who has been fighting for LBGT rights since the 1960s.
Eventually, the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group had to be deployed. The trans activists’ protest was declared an unlawful assembly and law enforcement officers made a number of arrests.
Prominent trans activist, Eli Erlich, who has frequently been accused of rape and sexual assault, was amongst those causing trouble at the event. He bragged on social media that, “We glitterbombed, pied, flipped off, screamed at, spit on, and cursed TERFs until they had to leave”.
December 2022 - Throwing Shit at Psychiatrists
LE FIGARO: Trans activists vandalised a venue in Brussels, throwing excrement at attendees, at an event to discuss the harmful effect of gender ideology on children.
Céline Masson is a clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst and university professor in clinical psychopathology. Caroline Eliacheff is a child psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and widely published author.
The two French women were invited to the Café Laïque in Brussels to talk about their latest publication, La Fabrique de L'enfant Transgenre (The Making of the Transgender Child). The work warns about the harms of gender identity ideology on children and examines the massive increase in young people identifying as trans in recent years. Prior to the event, organisers received anonymous messages demanding that they cancel the discussion.
A group of about twenty trans activists, described by Le Figaro as ‘hooded men’, barged into the venue. They threw terracotta pots containing litter and excrement at the attendees and tried to assault Céline Masson and Caroline Eliacheff. They also vandalised the exterior of the venue with accusations of racism and transphobia.
Florence Bergeaud-Blackler, one of the event organisers, told Le Figaro, “After the throwing of fecal matter, they overturned the chairs, jostled everyone and tried to approach the back of the room, before people intervened to prevent them from attacking the speakers ”.
January 2023 - Silencing A Gay Human Rights Expert
A gang of trans rights activists mobbed and derailed a talk about sex and gender given by a gay human rights lawyer.
Robert Wintemute is a Professor of Human Rights Law at Kings College London. His particular areas of expertise and research include anti-discrimination law and the law pertaining to sexual orientation. He has spent 37 years defending LGB human rights and he is a trustee of the LGB Alliance.
On Tuesday 10th January Professor Wintemute was scheduled to host a discussion at McGill University in Montreal, his almer mater. The event, ‘Sex v Gender (Identity) Debate in the United Kingdom and the Divorce of LGB from T’, was hosted by the university’s Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP).
However, a mob of around 100 trans activists stormed the discussion and prevented it from going ahead. It is clear they were aggressive and intimidating.
In her eye witness account of the event, Eliza Mondegreen described the menacing atmosphere and she explained how trans activists had physically assaulted her, shoving and pushing her, whilst they were screaming about ‘nonviolence’. She also described the harassment of two other women who were blasted with bullhorns and one was even pushed to the ground.
“We were pinned in the middle of a raging crowd and screamed at to ‘GET OUT’ while prevented from going anywhere at all… The jumpy activists I’d observed a few minutes ago had transformed themselves into a mob, with the license of mobs. There's no reaching people in that state, which is why it felt like anything could happen, especially after they'd already manhandled us.”
According to a CTV News report, the trans activists forced their way into the venue, threw flour at Professor Wintemute and interfered with a projector being used for his talk. The event had to be cancelled almost as soon as it had started.
February 2023 - Let Women Speak in London
Queer theory academics likened a feminist conference to ‘enabling eugenics’ while trans activist thugs assaulted one of the women in attendance.
On Saturday 3rd February UCL Women’s Liberation SIG and WPUK hosted a feminist conference called ‘Education for Women’s Liberation’.
Speakers included Joanna Cherry KC, Julie Bindel, Helen Joyce and Akua Reindorf, amongst many other leading feminist writers and academics. It focused on the role of education in feminism and women’s lives.
About two dozen trans activists assembled on the UCL campus to protest the event. One of the group’s leaders was trans-identified male, Sarah Jane Baker, formerly known as Alan Baker. As a young man he spent time inside for crimes such as drug dealing and armed robbery. He then served 30 years for the kidnap and torture of one of his own family members and the attempted murder of a fellow prisoner. He was released in 2019 and, since then, has been a vociferous trans activist
At a London Trans Pride March in 2021, Baker was photographed holding placards, one of which demonstrates his support for the sexual exploitation of women and another which read ‘Be trans, do crime’. There was speculation on social media that, given the huge similarity between the red spray-painted signs, he was also responsible for a placard making death threats against JK Rowling.
At the UCL feminist conference on Saturday, Baker yelled abuse at the women attending, calling them ‘c*nts’.
Another trans activist screamed “Literally fuck you!” into a megaphone as women gathered for the event.
Once the conference was underway, the trans activists circled the building, banging on the windows and continuing to scream and chant. Judith Green, the director of Woman’s Place UK, described their behaviour as deliberately intended to intimidate and said that it did cause distress to some of the women there.
The Metropolitan Police were called to the UCL after one of the women attending the conference was assaulted by a trans activist. Kate Worley, known as DJ Lippy, explained to The Telegraph that she was filming the trans activist protesters chanting outside the conference venue. “A hooded gentleman came up to me, said ‘Stop filming me!’ and then grabbed my phone, wrestled it out of my hand and threw it over a wall. He pulled both of my thumbs back, which are now bruised and hurt… He tussled with me and ran down the street and disappeared.”
February 2023 - Storming Mexico’s Congress
Trans activists besieged and vandalised Mexico City’s government building over proposed legislation to protect minors from medicalisation.
In February 2023, politician, América Rangel, introduced an initiative to the Mexican government which would prevent gender-confused minors from being treated with puberty blockers, hormones or surgery and would punish clinicians who breached the law by providing them to children.
On Tuesday 21st February trans activists stormed Mexico City’s Congress to protest the proposed legislation. Footage of the protest circulated on social media and showed the demonstrators both inside and outside the building, behaving with violence and aggression. They smashed open doors, and windows, threw rocks at Rangel’s party offices and graffitied the slogan ‘América Rangel out’ across one of the exterior doors.
Trans-identified male, Victoria Sámano, seems to have been leading the protest and was the first to force his way through smashed doors to enter the building. He had a physical altercation with some of the security guards as he tried to barge past them. A number of other protestors followed Sámano into the building where they caused further damage, breaking windows and daubing the walls with graffiti.
The trans activists reached the doors of the Congressional Hall, their apparent target, but were intercepted by security personnel. According to La Reforma, two deputies, Ana Francis López and Temístocles Villanueva, tried to speak with the protestors but their attempts at mediation were rejected.
Eventually riot police had to be called to the scene to disperse the protestors.
March 2023 - Let Women Speak in Auckland
Violent trans rights activists in Auckland derailed a Standing For Women event, physically assaulting Kellie-Jay Keen and others.
Kellie-Jay Keen travelled to New Zealand to host one of her Let Women Speak events at Albert Park in Auckland.
Even before she arrived in the country trans activists tried to smear Kellie-Jay as a fascist sympathiser, attempted to prevent her from being granted a visa, started an online petition protesting her visit, issued innumerable threats of violence and even tried to intimidate her with a threatening note left at her hotel.
The SFW Auckland event was besieged by a baying mob of violent trans activists who derailed it before it even got started. They chanted aggressive, expletive-laden slogans, held aloft signs bearing threats and insults, overturned barriers, intimidated and assaulted stewards and attendees and crowed with glee when their scare tactics proved effective. And all to suppress a gathering of women who just wanted to talk.
An eyewitness called Caitlin described the crowd as ‘feral’. Writing in a Substack post she said, “The protesters on the rotunda were overwhelmingly men. Not men in dresses as you might expect at such an event (although there were some) – just ordinary looking men. They shoved women, they screamed in our faces… I underestimated the hysteria that had been whipped up. I underestimated the police. I never seriously thought I would be in real actual danger attending a speaking event in New Zealand.”
Even senior women were not spared the violence and aggression on clear display.
Footage from the event shows an elderly woman being punched in the face several times by a bearded male.
Later, the woman was photographed with an obvious injury to her eye.
Kellie-Jay herself was attacked by a trans activist who threw tomato juice at her as she was about to address the meeting.
After Kellie-Jay had been doused assaulted by a abusive male throwing tomato juice at her, the situation became extremely dangerous; the mob broke through the barriers and descended on the rotunda where Kellie-jay was preparing to speak. Video footage shows her being grabbed and jostled by a huge crowd whipped up into a baying frenzy.
Surrounded by her security personnel and volunteer stewards, Kellie-Jay had to push her way through the mob while trans activists threw liquid and projectiles and screamed abuse. She was escorted to the safety of a police vehicle and driven away from the park, later writing on social media that she had been in fear of her life.
One of the event stewards, visibly shaken and upset, described their escape from the violent horde.
“People were stomping and shouting and grabbing… The main crowd were nasty, trying to trip me up, trying to punch me, grabbing my clothing.”
As Brendan O’Neill wrote in The Spectator, “The mob could not hide its vengeful loathing of the uppity women who disagree with its ideologies… The events in Auckland should be a wake-up call for liberals everywhere. We glimpsed the iron fist of authoritarianism that lurks in the velvet glove of ‘Be Kind’. The misogynistic streak in trans extremism is undeniable now”.
March 2023 - Violence in Vancouver
Trans activists attacked Chris Elston who was protesting the prescribing of puberty blockers to children at a rally in Vancouver.
was physically assaulted on two separate occasions by trans activists at rally in Vancouver to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility.
The first assault was filmed by citizen journalist, Dan Dicks.
Within moments of his arrival, Chris Elston was mobbed and surrounded by a gang of aggressive male trans activists, most of whom were masked and some of whom were wearing camouflage jackets. One of them lunged at him, seemingly in an attempt to grab his phone which he was using to film the rally. When Elston took a few steps back from the mob, the same masked activist lunged at him again.
In the footage filmed by Elston himself, the attacker can be seen jabbing his hand in Elston’s face.
Elston then noticed that his nose was scratched and bleeding.
The aggression of the trans activists continued and they can be seen in this video footage surrounding and intimidating Elston, chanting “Go home” at him. One of the activists wearing camouflage then lunged at a man who was there to support Elston, throwing him to the floor. This incident caused the assembled trans activists to laugh and jeer, chanting “You got your ass kicked” at the man.
In footage of the incident taken by Elston, his supporter can be seen trying to engage two Vancouver police officers, asking them to take action over his being assaulted. They both ignored him. In the same video, a large, trans-identified male with long blond hair is demonstrating extreme aggression, waving his trans pride and rainbow flags in Elston’s face and shouting “Fuck you! Fuck you!” repeatedly at him.
This ‘enraged and completely unhinged’ male was responsible for the second violent assault on Elston.
While he was being interviewed by Dicks, Elston was surrounded by hostile trans activists who were jeering and yelling insults. The blond trans-identified male in particular crowded Elston, moving extremely close to him and shouting “Fuck you!” repeatedly in his face.
Footage shot by Elston himself demonstrates just how close this aggressive trans-identified male was to him.
The blond male then charged at Elston, grabbing him by the throat and throwing him to the ground.
In a video clip recorded immediately after the rally, Elston has two obvious injuries: bleeding scratches on his neck and his nose.
Elston told Rebel News, “My neck is scraped, my nose is cut, I have a bit of a bruise and tenderness on my right cheek bone from a punch during that second assault and my back is spasming”.
April 2023 - Let Women Speak in France
Threats from trans activists forced organisers to postpone an event which was intended to support Afghan and Iranian women.
The Comité Laïcité République is a French organisation which promotes secularism, ie the separation of religious faith from state and public affairs. It had organised a symposium called Woman, Life, Freedom in support of Afghan and Iranian women which was due to take place in Nantes on 15th April. This event has had to be postponed due to threats of violence by trans activists.
Marguerite Stern had been one of the intended speakers at the symposium. Consequently, organisers were inundated by threats from trans activists who promised ‘rotten eggs and baseball bats’ and were encouraging counter-demonstrations at the venue.
Association chairman, Gilbert Abergel, said that the poster being used to advertise the symposium had been circulated on social media with a knife superimposed on to the image. Babacar Lame, one of the event organisers, said he had faced ‘absolutely monstrous violence’. For the safety of all involved, Comité Laïcité République had no choice but to postpone the event.
April 2023 - Violence, Intimidation & Hostage-Taking in San Francisco
Women’s rights campaigner, Riley Gaines, was physically assaulted and held hostage by a baying mob of trans activists at San Francisco State University.
Riley Gaines is a twelve times All-American swimmer, a University of Kentucky graduate and spokeswoman for the Independent Women's Forum. She is a courageous young woman who, having been forced to compete against trans-identified male, Lia Thomas, now speaks out against the inclusion of males in women’s sports.
In April 2023 Riley spoke at an event at San Francisco State University. Riley delivered her speech to a full house. She was heckled, interrupted, and insulted throughout and could hear the loud and aggressive chanting of trans activists from outside the window and the hallway.
After Riley had finished taking questions, the mob of trans activists group outside burst into the room. They turned off the lights and barged their way to the front, forcing Riley up against the podium. “I was cornered and increasingly nervous”, she said. “A man wearing women's clothing intentionally hit me – twice. The first blow landed on my shoulder. The second one glanced off my shoulder and hit me in the face.”
Riley was jostled out of the door and into the hallway where she was cornered again. “Both sides of the hallway were blocked, there was no clear exit. We had nowhere to go. The police appeared terrified.”
Uniformed campus police officers had to hustle Riley away from the baying trans activists into a side room. She remained barricaded into this office for the next three hours as the violent mob raged outside. The trans activists hammered on the walls and screamed, “Open the door, we want Riley”, “You’re protecting a transphobe” and “This is vengeance”.
Student publication, Golden Gate Xpress, posted footage of the trans activists crowding outside the room into which Riley had been forced to take refuge and chanting “Go the fuck home”.
In other footage shared on social media, male voices can be heard shouting “Make her lose her pride” and “Don’t let her go” as trans activists crowded the corridor.
Eventually, San Francisco Police responded. They formed a cordon around Riley and she left the building, forced to a run to safety as the mob chased her into a waiting car.
“By 2:00 am I was back in my hotel”, Riley told the Daily Mail. “Shaken and exhausted, but not deterred. Because for all the rage and intimidation, that mob failed. They did not silence me, and they will not silence me. Their behaviour did not diminish my arguments. On the contrary, it proved that they are misogynists fuelled by hate.”
April 2023 - Gay Man Assaulted By Belfast Bar Staff
A Belfast pub was the subject of discussion on social media following a Standing For Women event in the city on Sunday 17th April.
Robinson’s is a bar on Belfast’s Great Victoria Street. It operates five different venues under the same roof.
Apparently, the Robinson’s bar refused to serve anyone wearing suffrage colours, despite having happily taken their money for the previous few hours.
Video footage circulating on Twitter appeared to show a member of Robinson’s staff, reputedly the bar manager, refusing to serve a young woman because she was wearing a pro-women t-shirt.
Far more serious, however, was the allegation that a Robinson’s employee violently assaulted a much older gay man.
The man involved explained to Dr Julia Long that a member of Robinson’s bar staff headbutted him in the face after he’d asked why the young lady in the ‘TERF t-shirt’ couldn’t be served.
The police were called to investigate this incident.
July 2023 - Inciting Violence Against Women At Trans Pride Event
A trans-identified male with a violent criminal past spoke at London’s Trans Pride rally, openly inciting violence against women.
Sarah Jane Baker spent time inside for crimes such as drug dealing and armed robbery as a young man. He then served 30 years for the kidnap and torture of one of his own family members and the attempted murder of a fellow prisoner. He developed a trans identity while incarcerated and underwent medical treatment. He was released in 2019 and, since then, has been a vociferous trans activist.
He was one of the speakers who took to the stage at London’s Trans Pride rally on Saturday 8th July. He told the assembled crowd, “I was gonna come here and be really fluffy and be really nice and say yeah be really lovely and queer and gay... Nah, if you see a TERF, punch them in the fucking face”. He was cheered loudly by the assembled crowd.
A recording of Baker’s speech, initially shared by Dazed, was reposted on the London Trans Pride official Instagram account.
Furthermore, Baker’s incitement to assault women was then defended by the London Trans Pride organisers.
