John Hamill tweeted a very interesting point here and its significance nearly passed me by yesterday with all the hoopla. Amnesty and ICCL are on record stating that far right movements should be allowed to engage in the political process. Now, while the optics of bringing this up can be awkward as you don't really want to be insinuating that we are far right, the point can still be made by framing it differently. Such as saying Amnesty and ICCL have gone so far as saying that even far-right groups should be allowed fund raise abroad and engage in the political process. By calling for the GC women to denied political representation they are effectively saying that they consider them worse than those far right groups, etc.
In regards to trans rights being un-pin-downable, this repeated sentiment of 'Trans rights are human rights' never points to what human rights trans people are being denied. Your human rights are things like not being sold into slavery, not being imprisoned without trial. Where are trans people experiencing human rights violations disproportionately to the rest of the population? There's no thing as the human right to have people want to have sex with you, or to play on any hockey team you want.
A gender extremist responded to one of my tweets about this with "denied freedom of movement". When you hear that phrase, what do you think of? Denied passports, forced to live in a segregated part of town. What they mean, of course, is the denial of the "human right" for men to get into women's changing rooms and sports.
Great watch as always! Didn't know about this hate crime bill in Ireland and the thought that women could be prosecuted for being dysphoric and not transitioning made me think of the twilight zone...
Late to catch up with this week's Mess but how I enjoyed it and what lovely women Lauren and Ceri are! Some mighty craic was had which always lifts the spirits. But plain terrifying that Ireland is to make transphobia a crime without defining what constitutes transphobia. A gnc person is transphobic and therefore could be committing a crime for not wanting to transition? I sometimes wonder if 2020 is a mass-hallucination. Oh I do hope so 🙏
Many thanks for this one! Haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcasts lately but managed this one today. Wish I’d listened to it sooner. Helen pointed out that you don’t have to answer all the questions in the consultation. I ended up writing so much and addressed pretty much every question! Took me forever but glad I got the submission in, even if long-winded.
Fantastic chat and laughter and with honesty, clarity and boldness. You know, this was a good one. Please punch the air in excitement.

That's very interesting, thank you!
Brilliant as ever.
This is great, well done everyone!
I watched this live (while I was cooking). It lifted me up to know that there are people out there fighting for womens rights, so thank you. xx
