A handful of the good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
Leaving Them Kids Alone
Labour’s Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, intends to make permanent the current ban on puberty blockers for children and implement the findings of the Cass Report.
This week The Telegraph reported that Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, intends to prevent puberty blockers from being prescribed to children via any outlets and will implement the Cass Report in full.
Prior to the general election, the Tory government passed laws to ban puberty blockers from being supplied to children by private or off-shore clinics in emergency legislation. These laws are due to expire on 3rd September, however, the incoming Labour government plans to make them permanent.Â
(This will be subject to the outcome of a legal challenge brought by Trans Actual and the Good Law Project whose case was in court this week. No decision has yet been made but its not looking good for Windy Miller and his bunch of child catchers.)
In similar good news from Ireland, Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, has overruled Green Party leader, Roderic ÂO’Gorman, to ensure there will be no legislation change prior to the general election to allow Irish children under sixteen to legally change their ‘gender’.
See You In Court
Ursula Doyle, who was hounded out of her publishing job over her ‘gender critical’ views is taking legal action against her former employer.
Ursula Doyle first began working at Hatchette UK in 2008. In 2020 she was responsible for publishing Professor Kathleen Stock’s book, Material Girls. Since then, she has been the subject of targeted abuse and bullying, facing accusations of bigotry and transphobia etc. Hatchette did nothing to protect her but contributed to the hostile working environment by introducing a policy which explicitly allows trans-identified males to use women’s toilets and shower facilities. Eventually, Ursula was forced to resign.
She is now taking legal action against Hatchette UK in the first case to challenge the ideological capture of and culture of fear within the publishing industry.
For more information and to contribute to Ursula’s legal fees, please see her funding page here.Â
Netburn Has Been Judged
The Biden-nominated judge who placed a multiple child rapist trans-identified male in a women’s prison has been rejected by a Senate panel.
In May we reported on Sarah Netburn, a US magistrate judge for the Southern District of New York who was responsible for placing multiple child rapist, ‘July Justine Shelby’ aka William McClain, in the female estate. Earlier this year, President Joe Biden nominated Sarah Netburn for a federal judicial position serving on the US district court for the Southern District of New York.
However, this week, the Senate voted against Netburn’s appointment. The Democratic-led panel voted 10-11 against Netburn’s advancement.Â
The Divine Dreyfus
Don’t miss our friend, the redoubtable James Dreyfus, in conversation with Andrew Gold on the Heretics podcast this week.
And Finally…
(Ed: Hope ok to include this, JL! Balatro is my new favourite game)
Thanks JL, I love the flash mobs you post.
We should all send positive vibes to Wes Streeting so he stays strong against a different kind of mob.
Looking forward to the James Dreyfus interview.
I want those dancers and that music in Central Station, Glasgow. Fabulous to see everyone having fun. That’s what we need more of. Fun, fun, fun. Thanks JL. I needed that.
