I am extremely annoyed by the way this is being reported - no ones “health care” is banned. (Absolutely zero kids are “banned” from obtaining health care in the US except those whose parents don’t have insurance of course, but no one is making headlines about that STILL). It’s deliberately framed as if trans identifying kids are being denied health care and allowed to die of preventable illness when it just means that *some* experimental, untested therapies are being second-guessed. I have seen the same language “trans youth” and “ban” and “health care” set up to evoke images of a child with pink hair being turned away at the door of a hospital. It’s absurd and designed to stoke the outrage addicts.
It's true. As recently as November 20 I had no idea of the extent of the damage to children or the invasion of womenhood. Not one of my online friends disclosed anything at all. It was two real-life friends, then a crazed Canadian TA TIM attacking my innocuous query (which I raised as on alert from two aforementioned friends) on TA stuff on a Brexit memes page that got me to start reading up. I started on a JK Rowling fan club page (which I joined just for this reason), thereafter noting intelligent and articulate comments by GC posters on neutral pages where matters trans came up, sending them friend requests, then messaging them thanks when they accepted them. They would respond with helpful material and resources that really accelerated my learning. It was one of those early approaches that drew me here. I was like "WHAT? The writer of Father Ted is WHAT?!" . Plus a fair bit of googling acronyms and terms. The rest is, albeit recent, history. I'm now a raging and gobby terf (self-employed with a large client base, so I can afford to be) and slamming the message around on FB in particular (about 200 original friends before my rapid expansion of GC ones). I am so delighted to see a few likes emerging and I suspect I have peaked a few. I saw one RL friend the other day and he's well peaked - says he reads my stuff although - like many - never leaves a like to evidence this. So, sorry I'm late - but I'm doing what I can now. It feels like the big wall is wobbling thanks to you lot, and I have joined in late to help to push it over.
The ACLU are being driven by empty theory and an aversion to science. Here is recent research that shows clearly that the 'medical care' being given to 'alledged trans children' is unnecessary and profoundly damaging. Off topic: the Women’s Equality Party has commemorated trans visibility day today. They’ve done nothing (that I can find) for Women’s History Month. The comments of the Facebook page divide into people saying politely and lucidly hey, what about women? And other people slinging slurs and calling for comments to be removed.
That so much is pushed through under stealth and not widely covered in mainstream media has given the trans ideology lobbyists a massive advantage. It's been nearly all 2 years since it pinged my radar of social consciousness. At first I naively agreed that of course TWAW, believing it to be about kindness of and pronoun-preference, nothing more. I was unaware of the implications for sports, prisons, lesbians, the inherent homophobia, children on puberty blockers, etc. and the violence towards those who don't comply.
I'd say that my friends are almost exclusively liberal-minded (as I still think I am, live and let live among consenting adults and such), but I never see any of them mention one iota of this stuff. It's still just not be a widely known topic of discussion. My family only knows about it because I occasionally rant. 😁 I hope they see
