Not nearly as funny as all of you, but I tweeted to the BBC Writers Room:

I married a nutter with the delusion that he was "a woman". If he writes a play can he enter this competition? This is not funny: he has XY chromosomes in all his cells. He is and will always remain a MAN. No one can "identify" out of their sex - FACTS MATTER

2. Write a play. And don’t worry if it’s an embarrassing pile of pornographic crap that could only have been written by a male.

It doesn’t change the overall valid point, but the BBC only included this on their page of stage and screen writing opportunities... they do not organise it.

Thanks for the heads-up Graham. As others have said, whilst this is being advertised by the BBC, it is not BBC created, so I'm off to Twitter to try and engage The Women's Prize for Playwriting in understanding what their mission _really_ is.

And while we're on the topic, the Women's Poets Prize is the same. https://www.rebeccaswiftfoundation.org/women-poets-prize/

C’min we need a new award for all these brave women. £100k plus a job with The Guardian or BBC I think

Let’s have a ‘women's award for bravery in a queer world’

Nominees: Eddie Izard for her bravery in standing up to 13 year old girls (coz face it they can be bitches)

Rosalynne Montoya- for her brave reporting from the front line (of border control in an airport)

Torrey Peters: standing up for her rights to have her voice heard and stopping book burning

Kathryn Bristow: for her bravery in fighting the misogyny in the Green Party and holding the last defence as the only woman standing.

I’m sure there are many other worthy nominees. Love to hear your nominees.
