Men! The BBC have come up with another way you can take some of the resources that are supposed to belong to women! For the low, low cost of £5, you can take the place of an ACTUAL female on the shortlist for The Women’s Prize for Playwriting!
Step 1.
Spend a fiver to change your ‘gender’ in the UK. Remember, to receive your medical diagnosis, you must prove you have been ‘living as a woman’ (whatever that means) for two years.
Step 2.
Step 3.
Enter a competition specifically set up to address the problem of women playwrights missing out on major prizes. Twelve thousand pounds that would have gone to a young undiscovered female playwright now has the potential to go to you instead.
So what are you waiting for? We’re living through a gold rush for men, but only if you have the right stuff.
Because, remember…
You can complain to the BBC here. I’ll be doing so.
Go on Graham. Submit something. Call it Trans Away the Heart Break by Grainna Linehan.
