Thanks for this, not a pleasure to read, obviously, but nothing written by putrid pieces of shit like Burrows can be anything but nauseating. The way he describes himself and his history is typical of men like him. Bog standard, unremarkable heterosexual men who calculatingly appeopriates supposed 'queerness' because they believe it's going to be advantageous to them. But men like this are repulsed by the concept of same sex attraction that is romantic and sexual. They malign and bully LGB people whilst abusing the freedoms and protections they and their supporters fought hard to secure.
So unsurprising to find he was a (senior) moderator on the Guardian website, he ticks enough of the boxes beloved of the privileged, phoney liberal, largely white, smug middle class pricks who run that shitshow. I'm not sure he'd have ever got the opportunity to obliterate any comments made on women's sex based rights. If the Guardian, where "facts are sacred" featured such an article, it wouldn't be open for comments. This is the way it started to go about 15 years ago, possibly more, and has got progressively worse.
