Something is missing here.

Even if it was just "underwear", why is a charity sending underwear to kids ??

Expand full comment

This has struck me too. Apart from the fact that binders are absolutely not sports bras (which the cultists know), that any kind of underclothes are being sent to kids is bizarre and very worrying. If a bloke in his bedroom sets up a business selling strange restrictive knickers to girls, telling them not to tell their parents - is that ok? What's the difference?

Oh my, how many times do we have to say it? BREAST BINDERS ARE NOT SPORTS BRAS!

Expand full comment

This is the standard of their usual logic - binders are the same as sports bras. But 'people' wearing binders may need to be excused from sports lessons.

Who buys a sports bra so they then can't play sport? Nobody. So they aren't sports bras, are they? They are devices that crush the chest, making breathing difficult. Then there are the longer term damages caused by them. Is it just men in this piece who are supporting their use? Not sure about some of these individuals. 'Marianne' Oakes and Monty are blokes, of course.

Every day, I feel like quitting SM because it's exhausting witnessing support for this bullshit being doubled-down on by people you know DO know better but want to protect their own careers/popularity. No integrity. At all. Big up, Graham. Thank heavens for you & JKR & James Dreyfus, Frances Barber, Suzanne Moore, Hadley Freeman, Joe & Steven McGann, Oliver Burkeman, Muriel Gray and many others who aren't afraid to speak up or support friends of theirs who have done so. It's heartening to see. x

Sorry, my post isn't relevant to your particular one but my heads's in a spin reading all sorts of shite between JKR & Braggwaggon. Re binders: this is where Bragg, Norton should sit down. They're turning up with a barely-skimmed York Notes understanding of the issue, and pompously shouting down those who've been all over the WHOLE thing, from every angle, for years! Does my head in.

The world is bizarre right now. It does my head in, too. Take a break from SM!

Binding, tucking, removing, sterilizing, blocking, suppressing — all the actions of a biophobic cult. It’s promulgators are a bunch of biophobes. It's a death cult. No debate.

Biophobic cult, excellent. And how does one become biophobic? By having no to little contact with real life, especially Nature.

My fave is a TRA comparing binders to tight socks. 😂

There are any number of desperados desperately trying to equate preventing and remedying an unwanted pregnancy with supplying a minor with an item which plays directly into their mental health issues, as well as having a high possibility of causing ongoing physical detriment, under the guise of "their body".

Kids aren’t property of their parents. But they aren’t community property either.

They are their own person. But they need protection from those who want to exploit them. And those who naturally care about them the most are in charge of that. It’s their sacred duty, if anything in this life is.

I just assume anyone online stating that children don’t belong to their parents is a paedophile.

Right now, certainly in Canada and the US, it seems that the state owns their children. It's coming here too. It's entirely possible to find an acceptable middle-ground, but not with these loons about!

It was already tried in Scotland with the Named Person Act, NPA,which got short shrift and was stopped, I thought it was a sensible idea to begin with, my oldest daughter has mental health issues and is on the spectrum and was being seen by CAHMS in the Highlands, The area was a testing ground for the NPA and I thought it was working until I delved more into it and could see such problems arising re state interference

The state owns us all, which is why it was illegal to commit suicide, thereby depriving the state of another body to dominate and exploit. (I'm not sure about the current status of suicide.)

Expand full comment

It’s not illegal in Oregon.

My take is you have the right to live. And the right to NOT exercise your rights.

Expand full comment

Yes, Oregon and Maine have physician-assisted suicide, but what about people who are just exhausted from living? I have often thought of suicide being severely disabled, but stay alive because of my two dogs and one cat. I am fortunate in that I live in the country and can hook up something from the tailpipe to my vehicle, or use the generator. Or buy some helium balloons per The Hemlock Society. But much better would be to request appropriate medication from a physician, something that would assure death and not partial crippling.

I want to know what they'd say about the hidden statistic in the Dutch studies, source of the "Dutch Protocols" for "affirmation" in which the total subject number of less than 140 total, in 4 studies over more than 15 years includes 2 who died on the operating table/shortly after. Will they pretend the 'success rate' doesn't include a 2% death rate?

Heck what a lineup of dodgy (mostly, or exclusively?) blokes!

A veritable Assembly of Autogynephiles!

And "ManlyMan" Oakes?! - just look at the Adam's Apple on THAT!

I wonder how many of these men offer to help poor bewildered girls if they can see photos of them?

As predicted the fanatics are doubling down on lies and fake information because they care only about their agenda and to hell with children’s physical and mental health. Shame on them.

TIL that irrversibly damaging your female body to better pretend to be a man is feminist.

In other news, here's more of this narrative that all parents are bigoted and awful and ought to be kept out of the way of the 'enlightened' people who actually know what's best for their children. I suppose it has gained traction from the old 'parents throwing out kids for being gay' thing. Just another way they're twisting LGB history to their own nefarious purposes.

Couldn't help but notice the Sex Work is Work message written across September's bum in the Dr Ronx video. There was no reason to show a back view of her walking down the corridor so clearly intended.

It's horrible. Women have always been forced into uncomfortable clothing, corsets, girdles, heels etc but this is even worse because it's denying their female biology.

Emma Barnett interviewing the very informed and eloquent, Mriam Cates MP yesterday on Women's Hour, and rying to derail this interview about Mermaids by acting outraged at how Mermaids had been forced to close their helpline for one day - 'due to the abuse', helpline operators were receiving.

I like Emma Barnett in many ways, but she needs to do her job on this issue. Typical BBC bias. Not good enough when it comes to the safeguarding of children. Saville springs to mind...

I read a few comments under that Dr Finn Mc tweet, arguing with the research posted under it that shows binders are harmful. They keep asking ‘do we know if these binders were even fitted properly?’ So then surely if they think that binders are totally fine, so long as fitted properly, then they would be against Mermaids posting them out. They sure as hell won’t be in a position to ‘fit properly’. So they should be agreeing that Mermaids are over-stepping a line and putting kids in danger.

I was Googling Age of Consent to find evidence for my thesis that it was the first generation of female MPs who steered legislation through Parliament during the Inter-War period to a backdrop of sniggers and gymslip jokes. (This suspicion is based on something Vera Brittain wrote in one of her Testaments.)

This investigation was derailed when I came upon this gem:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jul/08/lower-age-consent-14-1979-home-office-report

By truly peculiar coincidence (🤔) one of the authors of this 1979 report is called Karen White.

My god! If 10-year-old girls are "initiating" sex, it already shows that they have been molested. If I've ever seen anything that proves the pedophilic tendencies of men in government, this is it.
