Whatever happens with the Green Party leadership election (result due to be announced between 10-11am on Friday 1st Oct), feminists please remain a member for at least the next month. We are crossing everything for a good result, but if we don't get it on Friday we have some other votes coming up that will make a difference to the defence of women and girls' rights. And such is the structure of the party these votes might have even more influence than the election of the leader. We need your votes for:Â
* motion at October conference to disaffiliate from Stonewall Diversity Champions Scheme
* election of the next committee of Green Party Women (currently not functioning since transwoman Kathryn Bristow was elected chair and closed down its communications with women in the party)
* election of other key roles in the party (such as the person who ensures internal elections are fairly conducted, and the party's rules adhered to)
Feminists in the Green Party are made of strong stuff and know the planet depends on the representation of the real lives of women and girls.
Me again. This thread also seems germane. More shenanigans.
Really helpful thank you ! I held my nose and joined the Greens (I've never joined a political party before its just not for me) I did it soley to try and get Sharar Ali in as leader to send a message to the David Lammys of this world.I was going to cancel my membership at noon tomorrow if he didn't win but I shall hang on to help if I can before leaving.Must dash I've got some more rights that need stockpiling
Wrong thread (again) but there isn’t a place for general discussion so you’ll have to put up with it…xoxo…

I really get the feeling (yes I’m an optimist) that the general tone of the conversation is coming around to all of the org’s and individuals that abdicated responsibility and prioritises unthinking ’inclusion’ are finally waking up and realised what they have been allowing to happen and the direction they allowed their juggernauts to be steered towards. It’s been a weird few years and Glinner was absolutely right to wake up when he did and thanks to him and everyone else some real changes are beginning to happen.
