I used to donate to Mind, and give all my secondhand clothes to a local shop. Informed them of exactly why I will not longer be doing either, and they came back with the same old stonewall guff about being a 'top LGBT employer'.

I replied that Stonewall have been utterly unsupportive of ‘detransitioners’ - people, mainly young women, who came to recognise that their desire to become the opposite sex was driven by traumatic experiences, abuse and mental ill health. Many if not most female detransitioners turn out to be same sex attracted, not ‘men’.

As a mental health charity, I’d expect Mind to advocate for careful assessment and support for vulnerable young people and adults, not an ‘affirmation only’ approach and puberty blockers and cross sex hormones, as Stonewall does.

I’d see this approach as antithetical to Mind’s mission. It is certainly antithetical to my ethics.

Yeah, I write a lot of letters. I want to waste their time replying and I want them to know why I no longer support them. Probably pointless but it is something. We can all do something.

My friend is a university lecturer and she describes how now at the beginning of the course, the kids introduce themselves with their mental health issues. Eg ‘I’m Elaine, I have autism’ and ‘I’m Jack, i have severe depression and anxiety’. The mature student looks baffled and just says ‘I’m Jane.’ Meanwhile, another friend who is a doctor described to me how, at one expensive girls school in north London, the girls have learned they can be more special by diagnosing themselves with various mental health conditions. They read up on it, self identity with it, and voila, up the social scale you go.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. I have said for a few years now that 'mental illness' is now worn by some special idiots as a 'badge of honour', which of course demeans those who have genuine and serious issues.

Cos you get double points for that.being autistic and having ADHD almost seems mandatory if you want to be in first class with the other oppressed cool kids on the 2022 trans choo choo train .

It's completely offensive, I hear that alot with adhd and it's nasty. Someone who genuinely thinks they might have it usually says that (that's cool) but others who bandy it about cause it feels trendy and want attention - not cool

If you check out a certain type of person's Twitter bio, then these 'conditions' are listed - a stream of letters longer even than the LGBTQIAADWFMAP+++ nonsense - which is quite saying something.

This string of proudly displayed abbreviated afflictions usually culminates in a very valid and noble pronouns announcement ...

I wonder if it's one of these mammoth over-corrections we've had in the last 20-odd years: parents who were parented in an authoritarian way become permissive; mental illness is stigmatised, then it almost becomes a badge of honour.

Expand full comment

Yeah, I think so too. Discourse etc. can swing back again quite quickly. More and more stories are coming out and more and more people are waking up.

I even saw someone on twitter say her leftie female friends were starting to wake up because they're seeing the real life effects of what's going on. It's like they didn't have the life experience to imagine it or something like that

I had noticed. On Twitter it seems mandatory if you want to be seen as progressive, to have your gender identity, political affinity and complete sexual and psychiatric history listed in your Bio.

Expand full comment

I notice that - lots of abbreviations. It's really strange. I couldn't do that, it would feel passive aggressive. Saying you can't argue with me because of x y and z. There's something really off about it.

I did see a couple of spoof bios that were so funny though. Takes a second or two to work out

Cos self diagnosing is ‘totally valid, yeh?’

Expand full comment

This is nuts. I wanted to write a story with student union handing out quirks to new students to make them look more interesting because that's what those self-obsessed arseholes are doing, trying to look interesting. Old-fashioned quirks were more wholesome, I knew one girl who used to travel across Europe to watch the Eurovision 'live'. It was ridiculous but quite harmless. Now most miserable bastard teenagers claim undiagnosed autism etc. What a joyless bunch. Perhaps someone should show them there's a big world outside their butt hole.

When you are a boring person, as unfortunately most of these young people are, you have to do something immediate to appear interesting. It takes time to develop a personality and interests and QUIRKS.

Anyone got Putin's number? Just tell him to push the button we're all bloody doomed either way.

You know that bit in The Truman Show, where Truman is asking who his "wife" is talking to as she's promoting a jar of coffee and he's literally feeling like he's losing his mind? That's where I am. Any second now a door will open up in the sky after I've crashed my boat into it and I'll bugger off into the sunset of a sane planet where everyone knows what women are and form a band called Queer Haircut™️

You're telling me. I live in Bulgaria, rather close geographically. Actually, there are quite a few Ukrainians living in this country so it is also culturally close.

Right now, all we're doing at home is sending money to help people there and getting drunk. For once, I'm on Glinner for a bit of light relief.

Honestly, I really don't think I've read anything more embarrassing than the Head of M16 licking the arse of Stonewall for Stonewall Points.

It's embarrassing and seriously fucking disconcerting, this is MI6, ffs! A secret intelligence service that as far as PR is concerned, apparently feels its primary objective is to reassure a bunch of misogynistic, bullying no marks that they're working hard for their gold stars. What a massive bellend.

Got I hate the continued conflation of transphobia/homophobia in some quarters, considering how at odds the two positions are.

As for WW3 initiator Putin, a while back he gave a rather impressive speech on the idiocy of the western world and their adoption of gender woowoo and related thought police, even making comparisons with the old Communist days. Stonewall, as usual, are a bunch of lying bastards.

Finally, how does one live as a woman? My male partner and I live pretty much in the same way. In addition, I never wear dresses, make-up or jewellery, I'm rather good at DIY, and I drink pints of beer, yet nobody has ever thought that I was anything but a woman.

So, how do these clowns live as women?

Expand full comment

Exactly. In the long list of things that make no sense about gender ideology, one is the conflation of homophobia and transphobia, when the very concept of gender fluidity erases the concept of homosexuality.

Expand full comment

The surrogate story is particularly grim. But it shows the end result and one of the reasons it's so 'useful' to reduce women to bodily functions and problematise the simple and human word, 'woman'. It's easier (on the conscience, if this couple have one) to compartmentalise and then dehumanise someone who is merely a package of functions that can simply be harvested and then discarded.

Expand full comment

Yes. I pray fervently that women will stop being surrogates and stop donating eggs. Being treated as nothing more than a collection of body parts ,to be used for prostitution and pornography, is as dehumanising as it gets. Women are adult HUMAN females !!

MI6 have truly jumped the shark.

“We should remember the values and hard won freedoms that distinguish us from Putin, none more than LGBT+ rights,” he says. Erm… the existence of free and fair elections that make us officially a liberal democracy? (despite Tory pressures)

…not having an “elected” dictator with absolute power within his country?

Aren’t those VALUES & HARD WON FREEDOMS just a fraction more fundamentally important?!

This person is unfit to run the Twitter account for a corner shop. MI6???
