Just a handful of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy! Stonewalls Are Crumbling Following Allison Bailey’s legal victory, it looks like public sector bodies will soon be under pressure to withdraw from Stonewall’s membership schemes
Yes, and slightly looking ahead where will the creepy crawlies crawl to next. There are too many that have carved a very lucrative business out of this industry and I'm not sure if they will cling to the ship as it sinks.
I don't think that'll happen, I'm sure they'll move on and let it sink. As you point out, it's a lucrative business. These people aren't going to say, "okay then, fair enough, let's give this up". Because there are people who support them, not necessarily those who are authentically transgender. In a lot of instances, they've been sidelined as virtually irrelevant. Misogynistic narcissists aren't going to make a space for them unless it's advantageous. They have the support of men who find the idea of women's rights and freedoms being increasingly eroded, attractive.
Yup. And that goes back to this newer bunch of trans activists and the fork that happened a few years back. There's less evidence that they were always there, or in those numbers. We've known about AGPs for decades and what used to be known as transsexuals and transvestites. They're almost like, or are, what came to be known as 'incels'. They're almost trans incels. Or are there any number of aggressive, homophobic woman-haters (as you say misogynistic narcissists) happy to jump on the latest movement as a way to get attention and as a way to channel their hatred.
I've been trying to figure this out, it's like transsexuals + Stonewall's pivot through trans specific funding/Mermaids/dubious charities + incels + classification as the most overlooked 'rights' movement + professional organisations looking the other way + messed up and threadbare MH services = boom
A mighty good week ( except here in California! The passage of sB 107 Friday out of committees will make California a sanctuary state for medical professionals and families; against the now 15 of the US criminalizing medicalization of minors. )
JL - your good news stories have kept me going over the past 2 years I’ve been following trans v women’s rights closely. I really do see cracks and a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you
Ah, Mel. Thank you so much. I'm so glad you've found the updates useful. Yes, I definitely see a light at the end of the tunnel. And it's getting brighter every day! xx
Lovely videos thanks JL
:-)
Great interview Graham. gawd I wish the BBC would cover it. But kudos to Andrew at gbnews for doing so.
Thanks JL. Stonewall stonewalled!
;-)
I hope that the criticism of Stonewall as it exists now, leads to its collapse as soon as possible.
