Just a handful of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy! The Glinner Update is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Kellie-Jay v Keir Kellie Jay Keen says she’s going to stand against Keir Starmer at the next election and “
Even more from Elon on pronouns - 'Forcing your pronouns upon others when they didn’t ask, and implicitly ostracizing those who don’t, is neither good nor kind to anyone.'
Good for her! I have more good news as well. The fox killing, kimono wearing lawyer, Jo Maugham, has tweeted that he is "frightened" that Mermaids are being investigated by the charity commission. I, too, would be afraid if I were legal advisor to a group distributing breast flattening devices to children without their parents' knowledge and who hires peudophile-apologists to its board. Be afraid, Jo. Be very afraid!
Fantastic! When I get back on Twitter I will be Tweeting this story to my MP, Leader of the Local Council, etc. all Labour, all captured - apart from a few older male Councillors who whisper support to me from time to time. Starmer is such a fool!
What’s great about the Spectator promo is that Glinner is described, simply and matter of factly, as a ‘women’s rights activist’ - rooting the debate where it should be, removing the drama and the false narrative.
Agree - any one of those will do - wouldn’t it be great if child safeguarding was universally seen as an urgent need AND a matter of fact, legit concern. But also comedy hero so nicely balanced!
Rachel Rooney's book is perfect peak trans materal. Really! Show it to someone without any explanation. Just tell them to read it. Wait while they read it. (The book is short so it takes only two minutes.) When they finish, this conversation will happen:
Them: "What a lovely book"
You: "It is hate speech and the author was canceled for transphobic bigotry"
This conversation peaked my mom immediately. She took the book with her to meet other women her age and repeat the experiment. Works like a charm. 10/10 would recommend.
Is it just me or was this just a knockout of a Glinner Update? So much good news Kelly Jay, JKR refuge, Louden School Board, Rachel Rooney, books - interesting comrnents too. What a feast. Thank you!
As PS to my comment, we can also help our heroines in their re-election campaigns - Joanna Cherry MP, Rosie Duffield MP, Kemi Badenoch MP, Miriam Cates MP etc. I will pop up to north London from 'Sauf East' London to help KJP.
Great news about KJK taking on Starmer. I think we need to be taking on other politicians from across the political spectrum. Not all 650 parliamentary seats - we do not have the people nor money. But say 20 to 30 prominent incumbents just to raise the issue in the public consciousness.
*Labour: Stammer, Izzard and other prominent Labour candidates.
*LDs: Ed Davey and others - this is a party hat has accepted £1m + from pharmaceutical companies making puberty blocks and cross hormones.
*Greens: Caroline Lucas of course plus prominent Scottish and Welsh Green MSP/AMs etc.
*SNP/Plaid Cymru: So many to choose from in the devolved parliaments and Westminster.
*Conservatives: Penny Mordaunt who until she stood for party leader was pushing this nonsense. Ditto Boris Johnson, influenced by his woke wife and flag waiver for the Conservative LGBTQ+ movement.
We should also target Mayoral elections (In London 2024) and devolved parliament elections. As a candidate for Parliament/Mayoral/Devolved Parliament elections you are entitled to a free leaflet delivery by the PO to all households in the constituency you are standing. Crowd funding will cover the cost of printing 45K leaflets (average no of households in a Parliamentary constituency), and lost deposits.
As someone who has been active in politics for 40 years (14 LE candidatures; Parliamentary Campaign Manager for 2 GEs and Agent for 4 LE elections I am happy to advise/train candidates with the practical aspects of standing - more difficult than you think! Maybe we should get interested parties together from across the political spectrum to discuss strategy and practical tactical matters early next year.
To start, we contact every incumbent MP etc and ask how they stand on the issue. Maybe Sex Matters has already done this?
I am e-mailing my London Assembly Member this week to ask that he ask questions on the number of EDI Officers in the Metropolitan Police, jobs descriptions, cost etc. Ditto my MP re. the local NHs.
Finding Graham in your Christmas stocking would be fantastic, finding Graham in stockings would not be fantastic.
Now there's a mental image we can all enjoy...

Lovely Christmas tune there at the end...
It WAS a Christmas tune... wasn't it?
I think so. Either that or... modern jazz!
I was hoping it would be the old Portsmouth Synfonia.... But this was... 'better'.
Your wish is my command, Moley! :-)

Goodness me, that is beautiful.
Very special, isn't it? Particularly at this time of year.
and somebody actually blocked and reported it.....the world really has gone nuts.
Lesbian Labour has a YouTube channel and I'm sure subbing would be very much appreciated even if you don't have notifications turned on.

Some more good news, JK Rowling has launched a rape shelter for women. No predatory men, no handmaidens, just women.

Brilliant :)
I was just about to share this. What a brilliant woman. The Times are covering it too!
Brighton rape crisis centre also taken to court for allowing trans creeps to work there.
👏👏👏

India Willoughby has just compared this service to one that would exclude a woman for being Gay, Black, or Jewish.
Blimey he does come out with em .....
Only if those gay, black or Jewish women happened to have a dick.
For someone who claims to be a woman, India certainly spends a lot of time being a dick.
Gosh ,how wonderful. Can just imagine the squeals of the woman hating tra mob !! Good for her 👍❤️
This speech by Neale Hanvey is amazing (clip is under two and a half minutes).

Ooft!
He really runs rings around the tra twats.

'LGB Rights Activist' & 'Child Safeguarding Activist' too!
Agree - any one of those will do - wouldn’t it be great if child safeguarding was universally seen as an urgent need AND a matter of fact, legit concern. But also comedy hero so nicely balanced!
Many thanks JL.
Always a pleasure! :-)
Tomorrow (13th Dec) will certainly be a landmark day.

I buy copies and leave them in community book swaps and charity shops. Such a gorgeous book

Haha! Thanks for the pic of Glinner in his special glitter getup! 🤣
