Agreed. I had moderately high hopes, but she seems to be hiding behind a poorly-conducted unscientific poll on what we locals feel are priorities for Durham police.
I loved that comment Glinner made the other day (maybe it has been around a while): "Anything after the B is straight". Surely, that is the phrase to have on t-shirts and banners; not least because you hope people would be confused and ask for an explanation.
I have just listened to Radio 4's hour-long homage to "9/11" - we are rapidly becoming the 51st State and "religion" is about to make a big comeback.....

I was disgusted (but sadly not surprised in the least) to discover that you were dropped from the Morning Star because Unison threatened to pull their financial support in response to the publication of your (excellent) gender critical cartoon. For what it's worth, my husband withdrew his membership immediately citing your 'cancelling' as the reason. On the upside, the whole sorry episode brought me to the discovery of your art which is bloody fantastic
I think I must be on some kind of hallucinatory drugs, without knowing it, because that's the only reason I can think of now for the madness going on around me...I wonder who's putting them in the tea? GREAT cartoon, Stella, says it all...and matches my hallucinations perfectly.
I have only just come across the newt cartoon. It is very good. The shame is that trans folks don't seem to have a sense of humour among other things.
The Morning Star should not be grovelling to the translobby nor should it be supporting GRA without prejudice.
I am sick of all those up to now fine institutions getting on the bandwagon without thinking of the consequences.
Only because the TRAs and their allies are such awful bullies.
But as Stella says we are making progress and hopefully in the not too distant future, there will be a transitional change back to sense and the ordinary where everyone's rights are taken into account no matter what. Human beings are important as are their rights. Women are adult female human so their rights are important too. Rant over.
Great piece Stella. I saw recently you being referred to as ‘anti semitic’. I didn’t believe it as it seems like a suspiciously convenient smear to discredit you. Do you have any links to where they are claiming that? Is there anything we can do to counter such claims?
I dearly wish that something like you describe about the influence of LBTQ+ in all trades and services would be researched in Australia, because though clearly not so open, there is a whiff of 'trans-spotting' in many public directions (like for example the Sydney City Council, ABC TV etc)
