Seems absolutely clear to me. This is the first instance of a transwoman in a woman’s refuge murdering one of the residents. Jess Phillips hastily deleted because when this information is made public it is going to be huge. There must be an injunction in place - probably a super-injunction which Jess would not have been aware of until someone panicked and told her to delete the tweet. There can be no other explanation for the lack of press reporting. No photos of the accused person. No digging into the persons past and reporting the previous name(s) and details of who they are, which you would expect. This is being hushed up while the powers-that-be try to decide on a media strategy to minimise the inevitable damage to the trans rights movement. It could actually become the killer blow, and the authorities know it.

A huge lot of coverage of the murderer's alleged enabler. Photos of him, etc ... but on Gordon, a hush.

I’ve been thinking about this. The trial is set for April 26th. I’m sure reporting restrictions have been imposed in order to ensure a fair trial. Frustrating though, as a case like this could blow the reforms to the GRA out of the water. But I do think that wide reporting could jeopardise the trial - any lawyer worth her salt would claim it’s impossible to get an unbiased jury and ask for the case to be dismissed.

I would agree 100% except it's Jess Phillips. Her misandristic meanderings are common place.

...Yeah. Pointing out that a man murdered a woman in a refuge is "misandry."

We don't *know* it's a man (or at least we didn't on March 1st) that's the whole point.

But nice attempt to catch me out with a strawman. I don't play that 😎

That was my very first thought when I read the alleged murderer's name.

No doubt Peto is patrolling the corridors.

Something like that, yes. The Labour Party are utterly clueless.

Lying to and about vulnerable women and children being abused is necessary to sustain patriarchy. Speaking up about it is forbidden.

This is clearly a huge story. The scant news reporting is just so weird. Using male and female pronouns in the same reports? Of course it’s a transwoman! This story is huge for 2 reasons - the very clear and sobering example of EVERYTHING we’ve been warning about, and also the fact that the media and politicians seem to have been instructed to under report? It’s possible it’s because the trial hasn’t been heard yet, but when has that stopped anyone? This is (another) massive scandal brewing and when the trial is over and reporting is open season, the public are just NOT going to be having it.

That was, is, a very odd case.

There were never any photo's of the person charged with the murder, Gareeca Conita Gordon, who was "previously living under an assumed name".

Strange descriptions from neighbours,

eg.

"I saw Gareeca - she would keep her bike locked up outside the house. She was a mixed race Caribbean woman. She wasn't fat, she wore glasses - just normal sized."

Almost all reports for Gordon's court appearance on May 16th use "her" in this sentence but one source uses "his":

"Gordon, of Salisbury Road, Birchfield, Birmingham, spoke only to confirm his name, address, date of birth, and Jamaican nationality."

https://wikitrusted.com/gareeca-conita-gordon/

It is so unusual for there not to be any photos that it does raise suspicions.

If not to do with hiding the sex of the accused, which does happen from time to time, then what? Under a witness protection scheme? A police informer?

There was a lot of digging on Mumsnet at the time:

New Mumsnet thread prompted by Jess Phillips's tweet:

I clicked on the mumsnet thread for a quick read through. One of the comments was a link to a video with more info abt the case. Of course that video has been removed bc "hate speech". So sick of this shit.

The entire thread has now been removed.

This is as sick n as bad as it gets 😤

Mumsnet also deleting references to this - something about not giving the defence any excuses, pre-trial.

The charges indicate the murder happened at an address "20 Salisbury Road". Is that a refuge?

Expand full comment

It’ll be very hard to find an address online but there is Salisbury Refuge which would indicate perhaps Salisbury Rd?

It's Jess Phillips! I'm certainly holding back until it's confirmed. It's not usually how I roll when the circumstantial evidence points to only one possibility but as I said, it's Jess 'the man-hater' Phillips ✌

The address ‘Gordon’ gave to police was 20 Salisbury Road, Birchfield, Birmingham, B19 1NA. Does anyone have any way of researching residents at that address? This could of course be the refuge address.

B19 😬 Yup, that makes sense. Sunshine and rainbows are in short supply in that postcode.
