A friend wrote this and I do see her point.
Just seen your white feather idea. Hmmm. Not sure this is the best idea to be honest. I think there are people who are fence-sitters and who need an elegant way to get off the fence and come to our side.
In the light of recent developments, I feel we are now pushing at an open door. Many people want to come across to the side of protecting women and children.
I think a white feather approach will not be helpful.
You know what? You’re right. I think Stella O’Malley’s observation about offering ideological opponents a ‘golden bridge’ to retreat across is the best approach.

What?!?? You declared something, then someone disagreed in a thoughtful way explaining their reasoning, and you bloody well listened and even changed your mind. What madness is this?????
Good call, Graham. We don't know what reasons may keep people from speaking out and, ultimately, the goal is to encourage debate and develop understanding. More people will come over to 'our side' if they feel they'll be welcomed rather than scorned.
