I am glad that Dennis is calling for Twitter to be made subject to British law on free speech and non-discrimination. It is an outrage against democracy that transnational corporate giants ride roughshod over national law in the countries in which they operate. "Biology denial' hits the nail on the head.
"You will be aware that Western democracies are presently struggling with a number of issues arising from an unevidenced and novel belief that humans possess a gendered soul."
No kidding. There are people who consider themselves atheists & rationalists who will tell you with a straight face that they believe in the gendered soul and that if you don't, it's a failure of your morality. It's like the Old Testament rewritten by porn addicts.
I didn't know that. If the general public hear that, they will surely say this is unscientific nonsense from trans allies- it is obvs a belief.. a fantasy...
It really does. (Also: "it's like the Old Testament rewritten by porn addicts"-- genius!) So I guess we're to assume that these souls must have little genitals on them? Or one is pink and one is blue? Or one has long hair and the other doesn't? Or something? I swear, the sheer blithering idiocy of gender-woo defies belief. It makes the likes of astrology look almost level-headed by comparison.
Personally, I like to heap ridicule on all this quasi-religious dumbassery by saying, "oh, mix-up at the ol' body factory, then?... WHAT body factory?" [innocent look]
Good for you Dennis! Me and my husband would read your threads every day, even though we are not on Twitter. What you've done to rally a great gang of gay men, and to support women and the next generation is phenomenal. Thank you.
I'm another gay man who has been silenced on Twitter. My account has been locked for three and a half months pending an appeal of a tweet to which I have done nothing wrong! It's Twitter's unnecessary behaviour like this that will be the downfall of their own platform.
I doubt they will respond without legal action. So many of us have been banned it's no wonder the TRAs are deluded that they are winning the battle - they are massively outnumbered, it's just that twitter is becoming an echo chamber for them. Twitter support seem to be kids who never learned biology.
Yes, and Twitter opinion is not the same as public opinion, despite what politicians and the media (and Twitter users) seem to think! Of my circle of friends I am the only one on Twitter. Where Dennis talks of "biology denial / gender ideology los[ing] purchase in the national public debate" I think this is also because people - the wider public - are just becoming aware of it and are bemused and then horrified that the ideology has taken such a root in sport, the police, the NHS etc.
Definitely. That's what's so frustrating. It's like bullies in the playground. They have the run of place so they think they are top dogs and call the shots. But they forget there's a big world outside the school gates. They'll get a shock when they enter the real world outside twitter and their unis. We are seeing more push back on their crap, which is great, but I think the nonsense has done so much damage to kids that it will be decades before we can clear up the mess and get back to science and facts.
This is all true but compared with number of users, Twitter has an out of proportion level of influence because journalists use it. And given that the media generally is either captured, complacent or cowardly (or all of the above) over gender ideology and its ramifications for all of us, it remains problematic that those in cultural power signal to others with cultural power as to where they stand and where others ‘should’ stand. You can’t just brush it off as a numbers game.
Absolutely. But I wasn't calling it a numbers game. The ideology has been brought in through the back door before we even realised what Stonewall was doing. It's why i think it will take decades to undo. TRAs are a minority but they have a disproportionately powerful voice. We were caught napping.
The media has dumbed down to a ridiculous level. Little, if any, fact checking and many articles just cut and pasted from press releases, lobby groups or other media. Lazy 'journalism'. Most serious investigations now come from independent groups and bloggers. The sports issue seems to have stirred it up and some journos are now speaking up. But they have been very slow. Even Private Eye's investigative team has made mistakes and fell for the TRA lie that #KeepPrisonsSingleSex was tweeted by bots. But at least they had the decency to apologise when loads of women contacted them.
Private Eye has shown a startling lack of interest, given all the juicy stuff about MP's and the civil service; publishing, academia, local councils, charities and Unions. Particularly worrying, not a dicky bird about the medicalisation of psychosocial problems in children. A few cartoons don't make up for it, IMO. Bitching about journalists they already hated, doesn't make up for it.
Yes, but over the last few issues I sense they are finally starting to wake up to it. Agree, the Street of Shame section has been avoiding the scandal up to now. They haven't commented on Drs Webberley or Harrop either.
Agree. Before I was banned I tagged them in a lot of nonsense and was disappointed by their lack of response. They have had a few pieces recently but still aren't doing enough. Their work on exposing the Deepcut scandal and the Bristol heart deaths was amazing I wish they would do the same on puberty blockers which will kill a lot of kids early.
I agree with you. It's been introduced by stealth, though, with so many institutions 'captured' including law enforcement! Brave journalists eg Steven Nolan, Janice Turner in the Times etc are now playing their part in bringing it to the public's attention and the politicians and institutions are starting to wake up (eg Dept of Education not renewing sub to Stonewall).
I was banned from Twatter years ago like many other women incl Posie Parker. And now a gay man with a legal background has been banned. Be interesting to see if he gets anywhere.
Elon Musk won't be taking a seat on the board for his own reasons but let's hope he has something planned.
I hope Dennis's letter gets some traction here with people who have the power to do something.

'a gendered soul' -brilliant! When you put it like that, it shows jsut how outrageous this nonsense is...
They literally call it that 😂

...and straight men.
The finally suspended me last week for stating biological scientific facts.
Sorry Sean. And thank you

What an
Excellent piece of writing. Fabulous and absolutely on point.

Big fish in a little pond...we all know what happens in the big pond..don't we🦈😈

I hope Dr Hammond (MD) isn't hiding. he has a book on COVID to sell, after all...
Hmm, yes.

I think it was something like "Sorry. Ed" in the letters page. Not much of a mea culpa!

Thank you Dennis, thank you 🙏
I second that. I'm so grateful to these people who stand up to this garbage.
Lord I love a well written kick ass letter
So when will you invite Dennis at the Mess we’re in? :-)
In the words of Dave Chappelle...'twitter isn't a real place'.
Nonetheless, IT/THEY/THEM are a bunch of weirdo control freaks. Twitter is a horrible place, so it is.
Dennis my man...I wish all the best. X
Cracking submission from Dennis. I refuse to join Twitter until they clean out all the bullies.
Wow. What a concise statement.
I thought it was brilliant. Good that it is so comprehensive.
That's Lawyers for you!
twitter response: tldr
lol i think that sums it up perfectly
Now there’s a man. 😍

Never belonged to Twitter but was banned from commenting in The Guardian after repeated attempts to introduce some facts.
