Well, I bet Georgina knew how to get her daughter to say the right things. Shouldn't a statement like that ring every alarm bell?

What this parent and others like her are projecting into their children urgently needs to be examined. Children have extremely creative imaginations and fantasies they unselfconsciously play with. This child hasn't been allowed to do that, her mother has stepped in and taken over, imposing her own interpretations and drawing conclusions that may not reflect the child's reality at all. These parents are dangerous idiots beging given the means and support to abuse further. The mother here is in the process of structuring her daughter's identity from *her* fantasy. She's going to make her daughter become as unwell as she is, probably with a damaged body to contend with too eventually.

All of this isn't only being permitted, it's being actively encouraged. Someone needs to assume adult responsibility and risk the kiss of death labelling of transphobia that is suffocating ethical clinical judgement, and stop passing the risks onto venerable children. As things stand, what will emerge from this is a lot of very damaged young men and women and the opportunity for lawyers to become even richer.

It is a fantasy, just like the fairy tales we tell children: the Ugly Duckling turns into a swan, the lowly kitchen maid becomes a princess. If you tell your child that he can grow up to be something he will not be if it's what he feels in his heart, he'll believe you.

In the original Fairytale of The Little Mermaid, in order to become a woman and meet The Prince, the Little Mermaid has her tongue cut out, and having her tail turned into legs causes her pain like walking on knives. After all this, the Prince falls in love with someone else because the LM cannot speak to him. Heartbroken, she dies.

I have always be struck by what a sad, apposite allegory that is - the pitfalls of chasing a fantasy. How odd that the organisation promising children that they can change sex has chosen Mermaids as their name.

I liked this comment too, it's disturbingly apposite.

And what is more neoliberal than telling children "You can be anything you want!" No, the 5'2" girl may play basketball at school but she is unlikely to end up in the WNBA. It isn't parents' job to tell children this falsehood, but rather to support and nurture their growing interests, something I suspect few children receive.

Abuser. Poor child. Why are we allowing this abuse of children to happen? Social Workers face being struck off for challenging this pish. The parents are crackers plainly.

It's obvious she's using an innocent sprog as a stick to beat her ex and his new girlfriend with.

First the "mother" broke her child's butterfly wings, then she stuffed her into a stifling cocoon.

I have written to Dame Hilary Cass and asked about this aspect of the 'trans phenomenon'. There is rightly a focus on the explosion of ROGD, but the apparent manipulation of small children is rarely mentioned (and AFAIK not at all in the Cass Review). And Social Contagion and social media effects are just as relevant in the transing of little kids - just via their parents in this case. Does GIDs even have the expertise to manage Munchausens by Proxy even if they suspect it ? I would guess they have neither the will nor the way, given the historical influence of Mermaids and what Susie Green decided to do to 'fix' her son. I left my job because the social transitioning of a young child was being undertaken and no-one would listen to safeguarding concerns from the inside - I simply could not be a part of that.

I did follow up after I left, and will continue to speak about it in general terms.
