When Cigarette Companies Used Doctors to Push Smoking
Before studies showed that cigarettes caused cancer, tobacco companies recruited the medical community for their ads.
What cigarette do doctors says causes less throat irritation? In the 1930s and 40s, tobacco companies would happily tell you it was theirs. Doctors hadn’t yet discovered a clear link between smoking and lung cancer, and a majority of them actually smoked cigarettes. So in cigarette ads, tobacco companies used doctors’ authority to make their claims about their cigarettes seem more legitimate.
Smoking as a public health issue finds its roots nearly a century ago. It was in the 1930s when health care practitioners began to grasp the dangers caused by the use of tobacco fully. About fifteen years later, the American Cancer Society began to proactively warn smokers about the health hazards caused by smoking. It was around this time that serious amounts of researchers began to study the effects of smoking and public health.
The tobacco industry may be reviled by some, but it has been a darling of investors for much of its history. Throughout the 20th century, tobacco stocks were among the best performers, benefiting from an addictive, highly profitable, recession-proof product, plus a reputation for offering generous dividend yields to investors.
And during both world wars, the U.S. gave soldiers cigarettes. One man told me his father made him swear he wouldn't smoke until he was 21 -- his father had gotten addicted while in the army -- and it worked: he never smoked.
What will women who have lost their body parts tell their children (whom they will not have)? What will they tell other young people? It may be like FGM: it happened to me so it's going to happen to you too!
I proofread an amazing book for work by John MacDonald titled The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell. He joined the National Guard for college money and ended up getting shipped to Iraq. The army gives these guys every imaginable drug, especially tranquilizers. He still couldn't sleep so he and a friend went to the infirmary where they got hooked up to morphine and finally slept. When he came home and talked about his experiences, audiences booed him.
I read some awful comments on Twitter by obviously sick TRAs who were saying the most awful things about Kiera. They were wishing harm, violence and hate on her. It was a pile on. They are mentally sick - they have to be. She’s trying to protect children ffs 🤦♀️
Great information from Dr Michael Biggs, although I wish Arty hadn’t interrupted and talked over him so much, as breaking up the info like that made it a bit less easy to follow and impactful. However, it’s still good to hear that the ruling wasn’t actually as catastrophic as the news headlines and reports first implied.

While thinking about previous medical scandals when I was younger, I wondered why more people weren’t able to notice atrocities like psychosurgery (such as prefrontal lobotomies) while they were being committed? I’m endlessly fascinated by the social contagion aspects of these scandals, because they rather resemble viral infections, but of the mind. Then I remember that studies have shown that the most likely vocation of a person with psychopathic traits is surgeon. Numbers two and three are CEO and clergy. Now I’m not so surprised! “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”
I have thought from the beginning Keira should sue NHS. As a taxpayer, I believe she is due compensation. Though money will never undo the damage. Hitting them in the pocket is the only thing that will get their attention. If you are reading Keira, I will happily donate to a funding for your legal team as I have done in your previous ones. I admire your courage and convictions.
Its now clear that these shockingly bad records are not the result of incompetentence but deliberate obfuscation to fit an agenda of child mutilation . Those individuals will (hopefully) have to answer for their actions in the supreme court .

Nice collation in that thread of the positive impact that rippled out from the original judgement. Maybe someone would like to sue the original judges for “miscarrying justice” because surely it is they who are to blame? 🙄
I wonder if that lot have bothered to read the excellent article by Sarah Philimore in The Critic? I feel pretty sure that Keira will have and that it will bring her some comfort. Worth every penny supporting Keira and if those TRAs think we are done, they can think again.

Indecent exposure is a gateway to violent sexual assault/rape /murder . How many others has Merager got away with ?
