I remember when the party started (via Suzanne Moore) it struck me as quite elitist. Then I saw an interview in the Standard with the leader and it was so soft on women’s rights, so appeasing, so Middle class and white, so working woman who has a cleaner, that I thought this party isn’t for me. It’s not angry enough. Not radical enough.
And then the horror Mandu became leader and well fuck that shit. I want a party led by andrea dworkin not rachel dolezal.
I wrote to them (as a founding member) but was ignored. Heard nothing until they realised I’d cancelled the direct debit for my annual subscription. I explained again why I could no longer support them but heard nothing back.
It's really depressing to realise that Glinner and the other men regularly commenting on here could probably run a Party advocating for the rights of women better than the women running a Party supposedly advocating for the rights of women. Of course, we wouldn't because we know what women are and that men have nothing to say about it - it has to be by women, for women - just like feminism.
I wrote to them, sometime back, seeking clarity on their position on self ID etc. I got a short, reply after some weeks stating it was up for discussion at next AGM (or whatever they call it). I heard no more. Like many I admired Sandi T and had high hopes for this endeavour. It's galling to see our hopes for WEP so screwed over, so badly.
Unbelievable betrayal of women, girls and the feminist cause. I've never seen anything like this level of betrayal of women by women who call themselves feminists. :(
I think we all feel this is the last stand, and if WEP agree to support self ID then we will leave it to wallow in the irrelevance it has become now that all the game changing women have gone elsewhere. Be warned Mandu, the writing is on the wall.

Clearly this ‘party’ was meant to be a vehicle for socialite events and the way its described here says it was founded for the wrong reasons. Just Stand for Women .. and dont do what Ed Milliband did and claim to be a feminist when your a joke of a bloke.
I used to admire Sandi Toksvig so much.
