Recently, Conservative Way Forward, a group of backbench MPs, submitted freedom of information requests to all 48 civilian police forces in England and Wales, asking how much they spend on 'equality, diversity and inclusivity'.
No equality or tolerance for the autistic teenager, I see. Autism affects communication, it's pretty widely known that it's common for us to just say what we see and speak our mind and be brutally honest and blunt to the point of rudeness. Those of us who can, generally learn to keep our thoughts to ourselves, but that's not always possible or even desirable depending on the situation and our functioning levels. Sure, he was rude, but he wasn't threatening and he was probably just wondering aloud to himself.
I don’t know. I recently reported a wanker ( literally) hanging around in our pedestrian only rural lane. I did it with both trepidation and lack of belief. In fact a perfectly polite PC turned up, interviewed me,,took a statement. They contacted me later to say that they had found the offender and were prosecuting him.
It’s a pity that the actions of the what I believe are the few fringe lunatics are supported for the higher levels, and that is what the public ( us) tend to see. I’m not minimising the actions of the Posie persecutors and those who interview disabled women overnight, just giving my own experience
That's the core issue and I completely agree. It's now the inconsistency and doubt that we might get a very professional and decent response and then again we might not. It can't be 'might' it must be 'will'. They have to be held to some standard and at the moment it appears random and therefore instills this weary anxiety to it all. I suspect it's a very small proportion of police who act like this, but it's severely affected how we view them all.
Thank you, RIP Nutmeg. It’s incredibly difficult for me to be the adult in the room and raise concerns about the implications of all this (I got threatened with the “transphobia “ stick). I did say “We’ll be having a very different conversation about this in 10 years’ time” but right now, the chances feel like nil.
If your talking about the police, yes, really. I don’t know enough about the rest of society to know for certain but I’d hazard a guess that what’s coming might well break the already weakening spell. Genevieve Gluck got close to it, but theres still a little more to come out before it explodes, but that stuff is definitely coming.
Keep up the heat my friend, this pressure cooker is almost ready to go boom.
copy of the email I just sent to West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner - let's see what he says!
Hi Mark,
I am a resident of the *** area of Leeds - I have lived in Leeds since 2000, having spent most o it in the *** area, which as you may be familiar, is blighted by crime and anti-social behaviour.
I am informed that, recently, Conservative Way Forward, a group of backbench MPs, submitted freedom of information requests to all 48 civilian police forces in England and Wales, asking how much they spend on 'equality, diversity and inclusivity'. I am also informed that West Yorkshire Police has 16 full-time staff who focus either mainly or exclusively on equality, diversity or inclusivity, at a cost of about £500,000 per year.
Can you validate for me please whether that is correct?
If it is not correct, can you tell me the true figure?
For context - is there a resource that gives public access to police budget information that I can view to put the figures in context please?
As a constituent, and "customer" of the police (although that is a rather stupid expression, it seems to be a language that is now in circulation) I would like to express my view that any diversity and inclusion spending and compliance should be part of standard HR procedures, alongside spending on and compliance with employment law and staff management etc. And that NO (zero) ringfenced staff should be employed for this work, and that the overall spending on it should be pretty small.
That's merely an opinion of course - I recognise entirely that the police own the decisions on how to deploy and structure their resources however - be in no doubt, that if the figure is anything like in the order of magnitude of £500K per year, then the overwhelming majority of residents would consider this utterly disproportionate - victims of crime would be disgusted in my opinion.
I think Watts (who I've met a couple of times in a social context; he's a bit irritating, as you can probably imagine) has left jail since the article was published.
It’s an example of good intentions gone bad. These diversity departments were initially set up to work with recruitment to attract applications from people from BAME communities, in order for the police to be more reflective of the communities they SERVE (deliberate emphasis). It’s now all about training and farming that training out to external speakers. With little to no research or critical thinking about their qualifications or agenda.
Throw in a good amount of fear of being called transphobic/homophobic/racist/sexist and think you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head about how it all got into the current state
Similar thing in workplaces recruiting of lots of trans identified people - then having a large LGBTQIA + group seemingly responsible for monitoring views and pushing “training”/ reeducation for sinners who are bored with narrative
We pay our taxes to fund this. It's time to start reminding them of this simple fact abs drum it home to them. We are entitled to a say in the quality of services and how they are delivered.
these are public servants being paid from us the tax payer - they are always very generous with money they havent 'earned' - these posts I bet have gone to ex cops who have 'retired' on their full pensions and now back in these NON JOBS and again racking up another pension entitlement. SCANDALOUS.
Sadly it's young people who are coming in and having whole careers in this. It has been seeded through as core training and 'purpose'. Chucking genuinely marginalised and vulnerable populations in with those who 'identify' as such is corrupting delivery and trust.

The two most frightening situations to find yourself in in the UK right now: 1. Needing Healthcare 2. Needing the Police.🤬🤬🤬

Thank you. Very well put!
Thank you Niobe! It helps to hear some good news about policing!
The picture of the man with a hammer assaulting that woman is really upsetting.
Agree.
There are a lot fools doubling down in the police force.

So now like Iran we have the morality police.
Really upsetting but excellent piece. Thanks.

I think five years. I hope.
I wish I could say more, but I can’t atm, but I will say this, a day of reckoning is fast approaching
really? These people are in power. They've infested every crevice of society with their rainbow pink and blue religion.

Pre Christmas?
I doubt it, the legal system has to take its course and that always moves at a glacial speed,
So why do so few police forces actually understand what equality, inclusion and diversity is? Off for a lie down...

We should all be writing to our police departments and asking these questions, PLUS questions about how they're vetting any future training people.
Excellent info. Thank you.
