What we should understand is that a majority of people follow the leader. If they sense their peer group is flipping towards this insanity, they start adopting it out of fear.

But if someone pushes back, they may stick with what they know is true.

They say “be the change you want to see in the world.” I say “be the Glinner in your peer group”, if you can.

Lesbian erasure right before our eyes. No doubt this is headed my way at work. I'm sticking to my guns, believing that transwomen are a subset of men, and that there's no such thing as cis.

I'm surprised that the more religious elements of NI aren't digging in here.

We make strange allies at times, but this woo-woo creates such immediate danger to women and children, that it's imperative to unite on this issue, irrespective of other disagreements.

With the (silent) capitulation of the Republic of Ireland, this might end up being another green-orange issue. That would be depressing.

Yep, could really see SF exploiting the issue, burnishing their woke credentials and annoying unionists at the same time. Damn most NI politicians.

I do wonder when this ship will land at the door of the GAA? I think this will go down very badly there, and I wonder if there have been any issues or incidents to date?

Agreed. Generally a very sensible body of people, who are awRe of the dangers in sport when mismatched participants clash.

You can feel the sadness that it has come to this. We all feel reduced by this madness and here in Scotland I feel betrayed by my government. Those who are pushing this must have really messed up heads.

As someone born and raised in Belfast, I am so saddened by this. It is clearly from the heart. Please thank the writer for sharing.

I had to read this several times to make sure I was reading it right. I am saddened that The North will now have to deal with the vitriol and discrimination against women that comes with the territory in gender ideology.

Northern Ireland is a relatively new country, only 100 years old. It's history is a troubled one steeped in discrimination, conflict and sectarianism. It's civil rights movement is of the same era as the civil rights movement in the US. It's so-called 'peace time' is less than 30 years. As of today there are still 2000+ sectarian marches throughout the region annually. While there has been some inroads towards harmony disharmony is never far from the surface. And now this, how fucking dare Stonewall and the NICS tell these people they are now cis men and women, not to use the word Lesbian and they have to be mindful of people's preferred pronouns. Most of us have more pressing things in life to think about that will never include what someone's preferred pronouns are. Fuck off.

Thank you to the author for making us aware of the situation in Northern Ireland. Graham please tell us what we can do to help in any way.

If most of her colleagues are in agreement, they need a mass email to their management to let them know they don't agree to this

I wonder if they can raise it with their union?

Most trade unions are captured so I wouldn't count on any support there. Ironically the Gen Sec of the biggest civil service union, Mark Serwotka, is married to the GC feminist campaigner and founder of Women's Place UK, Ruth Serwotka, so I'd be surprised if his personal views weren't in line with us but the PCS policy is all about the LGBT+

I didn't know that. I am a member of PCS on their retired tariff. I will protest that they MUST look harder and understand why self-respecting, truth telling, thinking women are gender critical.

The way this nonsense has been brought in is the most undemocratic political act of my lifetime.

Most people object, but politicians of all hues will not act.

We need our own political party.

Wow - thank you to that man! I don’t know for sure he is a man, of course - just picking up on some clues.

Interesting - I assumed it was a woman from things like working with a transwoman who didn't make crazy demands and wearing the #trustwomen badge but you might be right.

Maybe LGB Alliance could start offering alternative training and a 'diversity champions' programme that's cheaper than Stonewall's woo? It seems they're minted:

If LGBA can move into the space left by the bodies that have dropped Stonewall then maybe they can make some progress at the institutional level. I've no idea if this would be feasible, I just want to suggest something strategic and positive because shouting back at an industrial muck spreader like Stonewall is starting to feel depressingly futile.

I have been similarly disheartened seeing the change of direction that Alliance for Choice have been going in. I have challenged it and been met with the “it’s just to be more inclusive for the non-binary people” argument.

I am very keen to find more like-minded individuals in NI. It is hard enough to escape our true “dinosaurs” when it comes to politics here. I resonate with the article and many of the comments posted here.

She can’t be forced though. Maya’s case has protected her beliefs. Stonewalls advice is based on an opposing belief system, not law. She must refuse.

Because of our troubled history, N Ireland has separate and somewhat different legal protections for religious belief and political opinion than exists in GB’s Equality Act 2010 (the EA 2010 doesn’t apply in NI). Our legislation is the The Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998. The legislation covers discrimination on the grounds of both religious belief and political opinion. But to stop or check what’s now happening in the Civil Service and other NI workplaces (as described in the letter to Graham above) it would probably depend on whether a N Irish person would want to bring a case for discrimination on grounds of gender critical belief/political opinion to the Fair Employment Tribunal (like the Forstater discrimination claims).

Also, in recent years the NI Equality Commission and ACAS have gone full TWAW and support Gender Identity Theory so would probably not support a complainant arguing for gender critical belief/political opinion discrimination.

Here’s some detailed info on NI legislation for those who might be interested https://www.equalityni.org/ECNI/media/ECNI/Publications/Individuals/ReligiousDiscrimShortGuide2010.pdf

While I don't know the specifics, I have been told that NI has a loop hole making it easier for children from as young as 15 to access cross sex hormones.

It's also important when discussing this issue to remember that The UK Equality Act does not extend in full to Northern Ireland, for many reasons including institutional positive discrimination, originally designed to increase Catholoc participation. So women and children already don't have legal guarantee of certain single sex protection.

I always thought NI would be resistant to trans ideology due to the ultra-conservative politics they have there. It is a place I have spent alot of time in over the years. I also used to support the Alliance for Choice, until a few months ago, when I saw them use trans ideology language and imagery. Proves nowhere is immune to this ideology, no matter how conservative the population.

"I wanted to offer you my support and tell you that your views reflect those of most of the Northern Ireland population"

That's one of the many baffling aspects of gender ideology - most people think it's twaddle but politicians stick with it. Even Liz Truss (who vocally supported Government departments dropping Stonewall, was recently gibbering on about the "fantastic" new Stonewall advisor whom the Trade dept have recently appointed as LGBT Advisor for Small Businesses.

Why are politicians (and corporations and sports bodies and public bodies etc etc) backing something which most people (ie: most voters) believe to be comparable to Flat Earth Theory?

Yes. It is as if these men's balls are being held and squeezed so tight that they cannot bring themselves to yelp in pain. Sorry for "technical language".

Or is every single party receiving large donations from Ferring or other pro-Trans company/organisation? They are all always desperate for party donations.

Yeah all part of the Big Reset! No one is safe from this BS and the only way to overpower it is through people power! Poland and Hungary are all too aware of what's going on, hence them being demonised by the press even though their just trying to preserve their cultural way of life!
