One of the worst things about all this is that I want to be better informed and ask questions, e.g. what are the causes of gender dysphoria? How many trans people suffer this condition? What should happen to a woman who has been living as a man for years and is sent to a male prison and commits suicide? (someone I worked with with, I was deeply saddened by her death). How does my heartfelt sympathy for a male colleague who is transitioning, and going through a very difficult time, sit with my conviction that women's safe spaces must not be eroded? How can we support our children in their insecurities about gender without allowing medical interventions which could ruin their lives? How do you define 'woman' if men are allowed to just make a choice what sex they are? How do women tell the difference between men using this as a misogynistic power play and those who genuinely need our support and help?
BUT it's been made impossible to talk about it because you can't have a discussion without being shut down, or even get science-based reading material via online sites because they're all infected with this virus which prevents free speech. We will indeed look back on this period on our history as a dark one, I just hope it turns out to be a brief period of madness, and not women allowing men to subjugate us and take way our hard fought for safeties and spaces.
