A handful of good news stories from the gender beat this week. Enjoy!
The Chickens are Coming Home to Roost
Surely the best news of the week. One of the USA’s most prominent youth gender doctors is being sued by a former patient.
In October we wrote about Johanna Olson-Kennedy, the Medical Director of The Centre for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, who has been medicalising gender-distressed children and teenagers for 16 years.
In 2015 Olson-Kennedy and her colleagues began a study into ‘The Impact of Early Medical Treatment in Transgender Youth’ and received a multi-million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We reported that, nine years after it first began, Olson-Kennedy has still not published the findings of the study, probably because it found no evidence that puberty blockers improve a child’s mental health.
We subsequently reported that US Congress is investigating Johanna Olson-Kennedy and the NIH which funded her multi-million puberty blockers research.
And this week there is more bad news for Dr Olson-Kennedy; she is being sued by former patient, Clementine Breen.
Clementine is a 20-year-old UCLA drama student whose treatment at Dr Olson-Kennedy’s clinic began when she was just 12 years old and prescribed puberty blockers. She was then given cross-sex hormones at 13 and had a double mastectomy at 14. She is now detransitioning and taking legal action against those responsible for her medicalisation in childhood.
The defendants in Clementine’s lawsuit are Johanna Olson-Kennedy, the gender therapist to whom she was referred, the surgeon who performed her double mastectomy and 20 unnamed individuals who were ‘agents, servants, and employees of their co-defendants’. They are accused of medical negligence on a number of grounds, including an alleged lack of psychological assessment, poor mental health management and a lack of concern about the effects of puberty blockers on Clementine’s bone health.
We wish Clementine strength and solidarity and the very best of luck. What a courageous young woman.
A Singapore Sling
And on the subject of pariahs who make money by medicalising vulnerable kids, the Singapore authorities have warned Gender GP not to push its snake oil there.
We have written much about snake oil pushers, Gender GP, the offshore private gender clinic of very dubious reputation which is registered in Singapore.
This week The Straits Times reported that Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has warned Gender GP to stop the unlicensed provision of its outpatient services to Singapore-based users. It stated that Gender GP’s online services are not licensed under Singapore’s Healthcare Services Act.
The MOH issued a stern letter warning Gender GP to stop treating Singapore users. Failure to comply could mean a fine of up to $100,000, a prison term of up to 24 months, or both.
It’s About Time
Furthermore, the scandal-ridden gender pimps, LGBT Youth Scotland, are finally being investigated by the Scottish charities watchdog.
We have written much and often about LGBTYS, the pernicious trans lobby group which seems able to spread gender ideology throughout Scottish schools with impunity and a shed-load of public money.
But this week The Telegraph reported that the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has launched an inquiry into the organisation, saying said it had identified ‘regulatory issues’ at LGBTYS after examining ‘concerns about the charity’ raised over the past year. The LGBTYS response to the Cass Review seems to be at the centre of the investigation.
A Step Fore-ward
The LPGA has introduced new regulations to prevent trans-identified males from competing in women’s golf at an elite level.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association has updated its ‘Gender Policy for Competition Eligibility’ which “Prioritizes the competitive integrity of women’s professional tournaments and elite amateur competitions”.
The new policy, effective from the start of the 2025 season, states that “Athletes who are assigned female at birth are eligible to compete on the LPGA Tour, Epson Tour, Ladies European Tour, and in all other elite LPGA competitions. Players assigned male at birth and who have gone through male puberty are not eligible to compete in the aforementioned events”.
The policy does not apply to non-elite competitions. But it’s a good start.
The Reign in Spain
In similar cheering news from Spain, the government plans to ban trans-identified males from women’s sports.
Spain’s ruling Socialist Party announced plans to amend the country's LGBTQ+ legislation during a party congress in Seville this week. The plans include barring trans-identified males from competing in female sport.
The proposals also include removing the term ‘queer’ from the LGBTQ+ acronym.
F**k Around, Find Out
Trans activists have been arrested after invading the women’s toilet facilities on Capitol Hill.
A few weeks ago we reported that Rep Nancy Mace had filed a resolution to protect women’s bathroom facilities at the US Capitol, barring trans-identified males from using them. It was upheld by Speaker, Mike Johnson.
This week group of trans activists calling themselves The Gender Liberation Movement protested the ban on males in women’s spaces by proving exactly why it is needed. They barged into the female facilities close to Speaker’s Johnson’s office at the Capitol building and filmed themselves violating women’s boundaries.
Over a dozen of them - including Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning, the notorious leaker of military secrets - were arrested. They were taken into custody and charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding.
Rep Nancy Mace’s response was to introduce a further bill to protect women’s single sex spaces, this time in federally funded properties throughout the US.
Playtime’s over, fellas.
And The Winner Is…
Huge congratulations the incredibly talented Grizelda G who this week won the Ellwood Atfield award for Political Cartoon of the Year!
Grizelda scooped her richly deserved award for this absolute gem which was published in The Spectator:
How absolutely delicious that presenting the award to Grizelda for this cartoon was former Green Party leader and gender loon, Caroline Lucas.
As always 🌹
Bet that stuck in Lucas’s craw , good enough , a cartoon so simple yet so powerful
The tables are a turning
Thanks JL, as always. It may be only a handful but what a terrific handful. Things are really looking better on both sides of the pond.
Love the clips, especially the gingerbread house.
