On 18 December 2023 the World Health Organisation announced the “development of a guideline on the health of trans and gender diverse people” which will address the following five areas:
provision of gender-affirming care, including hormones;
health workers’ education and training for the provision of gender-inclusive care;
provision of health care for trans and gender-diverse people who suffered interpersonal violence based in their needs;
health policies that support gender-inclusive care, and
legal recognition of self-determined gender identity.
The WHO have come up with a “guideline development group” that “were chosen by WHO technical staff among researchers with relevant technical expertise, among end-users (programme managers and health workers) and among representatives of trans and gender diverse community organisations.”
Florence Ashley is one of the individuals the WHO has selected. Let’s see what this individual will be bringing to the table. (Click on screengrabs to view the source tweet)
“Florence Ashley is a transfeminine jurist and bioethicist whose work focuses on trans issues in the legal and healthcare systems. Florence is an assistant professor at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in Canada. They have obtained a doctorate at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Joint Centre for Bioethics. They hold law degrees and a master's from the McGill University Faculty of Law and served as the first openly transfeminine law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada. They are widely published, with over 30 refereed publications in law, bioethics, healthcare, and social sciences. Florence is the author of Banning Transgender Conversion Practices: A Legal and Policy Analysis (UBC Press, 2022).”
(From the document Biographies of proposed Guideline Development Group members).
Ashley’s own website states that
“(m)y pronouns in English are they/them. I grew up speaking québécois French; in that language I use the pronoun ille (/ɪj/ or /ij/) and feminine grammatical agreements.
Of course he does. But we won’t: Florence is a bloke and we shall refer to him as such, because when we remove the mystical veil of transgender pronoun pretence, we can see his actions as the actions of a man, and then everything falls neatly into place and starts to make perfect sense.
Florence is up to his neck in the institutional capture of the country formerly known as Canada, and you can see on his website the various Tranadian pies he’s managed to get his fingers and toes stuck into. He’s also pretentious to a startling degree, “(b)efore being a doctoratrix…” and to quote Judy Sims, I can’t bear pretension when it’s based on limited talent.
Florence is another man who advocates for gender ideology and the blind affirmation of fashionable identities above the material reality of our sexed bodies. He wrote a book “Banning Transgender Conversion Practices: A Legal and Policy Analysis” which earned the merit of a forward by the woman-ignoring gender identity ideologue Victor Madrigal-Borloz. The Harvard Law Review has a take on Ashley’s book which is sadly reflective of its current leadership woes.
Ashley is of course a self-identified lesbian with an interest in kink and porn and a desperate need to validate his own adult life choices by projecting his own dysfunctional character onto children. You don’t have to take my word for it, here’s Ashley in his own words, and keep it in mind that this is one of the ‘experts’ the WHO has decided to listen to…
ROGD and Transing Kids
The link is to his piece There Is No Evidence That Rapid-Onset Gender Dysphoria Exists.
Here’s his paper on desistance.
Kink
Like many men, he watches porn
Favourite Things To Do
Again, fairly standard for a straight man.
Homophobia and objectification
More homophobia, Cotton Ceiling
No Sense of Irony
That’s because you’re a man, Florence. Lesbians don’t date men. But you know that, because you like to harass them in their own spaces.
Trancel
He hates lesbians.
In His Own Words
In case anyone out there still thinks Ashley’s views on this have any sincerity, credibility or coherence, I would like to finish with some of his own words, the cynical words of a man who advocates for the blind affirmation of transgender identity in adolescents and young children, and thinks that sex by deception is acceptable.
From “Genderfucking non-disclosure: Sexual fraud, transgender bodies, and messy identities”, Dalhouse Law Journal, 2018:
“Even after years thinking about gender identity in both scholarly and lay contexts, my own gender identity remains largely unintelligible.”
As the Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine has it:
“Guideline panel composition (i.e., the GDG membership) is crucial to ensure a methodologically appropriate, evidence-based guideline development process. According to the WHO guideline development handbook, a conflict of interest (COI) is “a set or circumstances that creates a risk that professional judgment or actions regarding a primary interest will be unduly influenced by a secondary interest.” The handbook distinguishes between two types of COIs, financial and nonfinancial. The latter are most relevant to these guidelines. They are described as “any interest that could be reasonably perceived to affect an individual’s objectivity and independence while working with WHO.” Of note, this is also the definition that WHO describes they provide to potential GDG members when asking them to declare such conflicts. There is special mention of a subtype of nonfinancial COI, “intellectual conflict of interest,” defined as “academic activities that create the potential for an attachment to a specific point of view that could unduly affect an individual’s judgment about a specific recommendation”.
The WHO have asked that “All comments should be sent by email to hiv-aids@who.int by 8 January 2024.”
(This consultation was originally announced 28 June 2023 however the complete list of individuals involved was announced only on 18 December 2023).
Thank you for reading my work, I have produced a follow-up post.

Omg, I just had to stop reading about halfway through! Yuck, this is someone the WHO wants in a position like that? What is wrong with them? I hope you sent them a copy of this, or tagged them, or whatever.
