This week Sex Matters published a report about the ideological capture of the women’s sector. Women’s Services: A Sector Silenced details how “Leaders in the women’s sector who advocate for female-only services are routinely subjected to investigations, ostracisation, bullying and employment loss, and have been pressured into adopting policies that compromise women’s welfare and safety”.
The publication of this report coincided with the start of a case at the Edinburgh Employment Tribunal, R Adams v Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. (The case is being documented by Tribunal Tweets.)
The Claimant, R Adams, was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She does not subscribe to gender ideology but believes that biological sex is real, important, immutable and not to be conflated with gender identity. She is claiming constructive dismissal from ERCC because of her gender critical beliefs.
Adams told the tribunal that a ‘service-user’ (ie a woman who has suffered male sexual violence) requested to know the sex of her support worker, explaining that she would not feel comfortable talking to a male. Adams suggested putting the woman’s mind at rest by informing her that the staff member in question was female but merely identified as non-binary. She was shocked to subsequently receive a letter informing her that she was being investigated for ‘gross misconduct’ and faced immediate dismissal without pay.
Adams left ERCC following a nine-month disciplinary process throughout which she was accused of ‘transphobia’.
Trans-identified male, Mridul Wadhwa, has been the CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre since May 2021. He has been the subject of numerous articles on this site.
In the past we have reported that:
He has no GRC so is still legally male.
He concealed his sex to secure a job at Forth Valley Rape Crisis Centre.
He objected to an amendment allowing rape victims to choose the sex of the medical clinician examining them.
Pursuing political ambitions, he took a place on an SNP all-women shortlist.
He is ‘disappointed’ by the single-sex provisions allowed for in the Equality Act 2010 and finds them ‘discriminatory’ against ‘transwomen’.
He sided with serial litigant and period-obsessed paedophile, Jonathan Yaniv, against a group of migrant women.
He deems it appropriate to discuss whether rape victims experience orgasm.
In August 2021, appearing on The Guilty “Feminist” Podcast, Wadhwa made his contempt for women perfectly clear. (For Women Scotland compiled a transcript of the entire broadcast.) Denying that women who’ve suffered male violence need female-only spaces, he made this shocking statement:
“Sexual violence happens to bigoted people as well… If you bring unacceptable beliefs that are discriminatory in nature, we will begin to work with you on your journey of recovery from trauma. But please also expect to be challenged on your prejudices… You have to reframe your trauma… To me, therapy is political”.
His words were roundly condemned by women's service providers, mental health care professionals and rape survivors. But their words fell on deaf ears; Wadhwa issued a brief statement in which he doubled down on his previous comments. “If what we see/hear from someone is clearly prejudiced and we are not responding to their urgent support need it is also part of our role to provide a space to explore and challenge this”, he said.
In September 2021, Just a few weeks after making these appalling comments, Wadhwa took part in an online webinar during which he talked about ‘inclusion and intersectionality’ in sexual violence services. (Full transcript provided by For Women Scotland.) He spoke of ERCC now being ‘trans inclusive’ and having to “Wash and clean its history” of being female-only.
He then went on to talk about the women who may be self-excluding from ERCC’s services because of its trans [ie male] inclusive policy and described them as ‘transphobic’ for requiring a women-only space. Of these survivors, he commented, “We have to learn not to be transphobic”.
It is also worth noting that in 2021 three women’s sector services in North Lanarkshire were forced into closure after their funding was withdrawn by the council. The council then awarded its new £1.4 million contract to an organisation called Sacro which is not a specialist in domestic violence nor local to the area. Council officers said this decision was “Informed by the findings of gaps in services with respect to specific groups including LGBT+” and that Sacro ‘will better help male victims’. At that time, a man called Arun Gopinath, generally thought to be Mridul Wadhwa’s partner, was a Sacro director.
The evidence given by R Adams to the employment tribunal this week, therefore, comes as little surprise. She told the court that ‘gender identity is all that matters’ to Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. Adams also described the centre’s recruitment policies which allow male people to be employed in supposedly women-only roles.
Not only are males employed in roles intended to be filled solely by women but Mridul Wadhwa wants the staff who object to be fired. Apparently, firing staff who question gender ideology is important when ‘creating inclusive spaces’.
Of course, it’s not just the staff affected by ERCC’s policy of being ‘trans’ (ie male) inclusive; the women who have been traumatised by male sexual violence and seek help there suffer tremendously as a result. Adams told the tribunal of a heart-breaking example in which a woman in her 60s was turned away by ERCC because she needed a female-only therapy group. For asking if the space was women-only, the woman received an email telling her she was not suitable for ERCC’s service.
It is beyond comprehension that males, however they identify, are permitted in any space where women are trying to heal from the horror of sexual violence, still less that their presence is deemed a priority.
Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre is failing and betraying the very people it was set up to serve; traumatised women.
I found his interview on the Guilty 'Feminist' (bullshit podcast) utterly appalling. He cares not one bit for women.
Filia did a fantastic interview with 3 women from South Lanarkshire who lost services that were set up by women for women due to the need to include men to obtain funding. Highly recommended listening.
Quoting from their website -
“The reality is that you cannot simultaneously have a gender-neutral approach and a feminist approach to anything. Power in our society is not gender-neutral. Safety is not gender-neutral.”
This larping man with no GRC , no surgery - not that that should make a jot of difference, anyway - was appointed to a job that should have gone to a woman. Sorry, but I would have expected just what we got from this creature whose contempt for females is beyond doubt.
It is the salivating, crawling females who appointed him and who run after him like puppy dogs who need to be booted out with him. I don't care of they would have been defunded. The law says otherwise and the law was there to be used, you morons. Defunding organizations because they do not toe the line is illegal in itself when the line they are expected to toe is illegal in the first place.
These dumb females who enabled this also need to be forcefully dragged along, under a court order, to a re education programme based on truth and reality and on bhiow to be humane human beings, because they most patently are barbarous fools.
I utterly despise these disgusting females who would crawl over hot coals for some lying man. Putting aside his sadistic and narcissistic behaviours towards clients and staff, which conditions he displays in spades, he lied on his CV, an offence that normally leads to dismissal, but they actually promoted him and, then allowed him to bring in his partner to suck up public monies.
These two men - and any man who sleeps with another man is GAY, not 'trans' anything, 'trans' being a felling in someone's wee head - are showing their complete contempt for Scotland's laws, customs and for human decency. What has been done is illegal - totally, utterly illegal. The Scottish government and Rape Crisis Scotland must know this or they are so stupid and ignorant that they ought not to be allowed out on their own. I despair at the gullibility and stupidity of the people who think they can govern us. Get this larping creature and his other appendage out of ERCC now. Out now and charge him/them with anything that can stick.
