The Mermaids saga is like a Chris Morris prank that worked without needing a Chris Morris figure to organise it. Just look at all the celebs and organisations whose reputations have been scuppered by the scandal and Chris didn’t even have to get out of bed to do it. From Clara Vuillamy, the vicious bully who targeted children’s author Rachel Rooney, to Owen Jones, the vicious bully who targets schoolgirls. They’re going to have a hard time being taken seriously ever again, so watch them all double down, or go conspicuously silent, in the coming weeks.
