The more I think about this tweet, the angrier I get. How dare they threaten women with the police.
As ‘Defund The BBC’ pointed out “The BBC have reached a new low by threatening to report women to the police for speaking out on the destruction of women’s sport. Hardly surprising given more than 70% of TV licence prosecutions are of women.”
So if you don’t pay your license fee, you may end up in prison, where you could be sexually assaulted by a man who identifies as a woman.
The licence fee is up for renewal soon. I suggest you write to the BBC using this handy guide and tell them how you feel. If we don’t get a satisfying answer, well…the license fee is up for renewal soon. We should make this issue central to that conversation.
I have supported the BBC for my whole life, but my patience is running out. I will not help fund their war on women.
This too angered me last night more than I was expecting. I was incensed. I think their demands and threats last night over this were, quite frankly, obscene. This, in a very real sense, is a form of social engineering - by a now w*k*-ridden and ideologically-captured organisation that we actually pay for.
They forget that we are CUSTOMERS! We are not the ignorant, bigoted, great unwashed that they think we are.
We are not here to be lectured, 'educated' and treated with insulting disdain by various blue-haired interns, non-binary feature writers and gurning oh-so special, delicately unique people who seem to be making and controlling public website policy.
Who decided that the BBC are the moral guardians of us all?
I didn't vote for that but I am certainly now paying for it - as we all are.
Thanks for attending my TED Talk - again.
I'm erased from Twitter for life (so much for inclusivity) but delight in reading the comments. This one in particular:
"Just when you think things can't get any more unjust, along comes Britain's publicly-funded broadcaster to threaten the public for pointing out the injustice."
Well said that lady!
