I hope they sue. Send me the link to the crowdfunder.

Yes sounds like this film needs to be made.

Well if anyone had needed to establish "serious harm to reputation" in court, that now appears to be much easier to demonstrate.

The Arts Council - funders of the Family Sex Show.

Exactly, who will be performing in Bath, at the end of the month!

Expand full comment

I think it's been cancelled.

Mark Shelford, Avon & Somerset PCC said he was aware of the booking, and dealing with partners over this. That was this morning, so I hope it does get cancelled.

I can't understand how such a thing could even have been conceived.

There must be a bigger agenda at play, safeguarding is the biggest obstacle to break down. There can only be one conclusion, paedophilia.

Expand full comment

I agree- safeguarding is there for a reason. Reminds me of the p.i.e stuff

Not sure it is as straightforward as this. Unfortunately there are many progressive people out there who have bought into this idea of correcting wrongthink as the way to create a better society, aka deconstruction.

Expand full comment

They've already used oh some nasty people have threatened us tactic, so for 'safety reasons' they're cancelling in some places. They seem particularly naive about how they have been conducting themselves. The little I know of the dictionary definitions they dreamt up for their website were beyond bizarre considering their target market. And suggesting kids search online for animals masturbating is, well, I can't think of a better word as it looks like grooming doesn't it?

Expand full comment

Hopefully. I watched a Benjamin Boyce podcast earlier in which he examines and analyses this show and it consists of the blatant grooming

Of.children ,sexually. It's a paedophile's paradise and any parent who takes ,or allows, their children to see this is an abusive pervert !! I thought I was unshockable but what he uncovered from their own words was beyond evil !!

Expand full comment

I think it's pretty obvious what they're trying to do. Who on earth tells five-year-olds to look for masturbating animals on the net!

Thanks for the tip. Just watched the episode on YouTube. Boyce can barely believe his eyes!

Brilliant article JL. It's a 'dark money funded astro-turfed hate group' is it mate? Ooooh that’ll get people chucking money at the windmill fund. And the head of Edinburgh Rape Crisis advises GLP? Well, well, well. Curiouser and curiouser! They keep getting slapped down and still they try. Somebody needs to hold the government to account but it isn’t them.

LGB Alliance need to challenge that withdrawal of funds. Formally. Happy to contribute to a crowdfunder.

So, that's how it is: if you want to sabotage an organisation, just make unfounded public accusations and bring in a frivolous lawsuit against a decision concerning said organisation. Then make others aware that "this organisation is under review or investigation" and so make public funding stop.

Are those people even aware of that they just opened the floodgates to potentially all charities being in constant danger of bankrupcy because they could have any and all public funding withheld at any given time?

Expand full comment

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I guess it's time to challenge the charitable status of the rogue's gallery listed above. It's pretty clear that Mermaids has used public money to pay for illegal activity. Or at least some guy said so once.

Indeed, what T-orgs don't get is that this could happen to them at any given time as well. And here I'm not talking about raising legitimate concerns about financial mishandlings as have surfaced in the recent past - but the same tactics that they are employing: Smearing, slandering, snitching, you name it.

Do they rely on us being almost inherently morally and intellectually superior so we don't resort to such tactics or are they counting on friendly media giving them fire support so there would be no consequences such as the LGB Alliance is currently facing for, again, a frivolous lawsuit launched by a political opponent. Or do they think that their cause is so right that they will survive anything?

Now, to be clear: I am not advocating giving them a taste of their own medicine, even though I can be a vindictive son of a bitch at times. I think it would be a huge mistake to resort to these tactics. Not out of moral considerations, mind, but because I think the fallout from such manoeuvers would be huge for just about every decent NGO and would make their work just about impossible on the long run.

I mean, there isn't a single one of them that doesn't have a bunch of lunatics out there that feel wronged by them. There are people that hate the Red Cross, for f..k's sake. Imagine what could happen if the strategy TRAs are using on LGB Alliance became a commonly used weapon.

Expand full comment

These organisations that keep reversing their decisions every time they receive false information from the TRAs need look at the harm it is doing to their reputations. Fewer people are in the dark and seeing them as spineless gits.

Extraordinary - that the Arts Council granted the money, gave the money, and asked for it back. How can any arts organisation or Arts Council funded event have security to run with projects when, on a whim, it can be demanded that money be returned?

Does anyone know how much the funding was for? We could try raise it ourself?

Such a disappointing turn of events, I was so pleased to see the LGB Alliance recieve the initial Arts Council funding. What a bunch of cowards the AC are.

Time to go to the politicians as well as the courts. Either the Charity Commission does its job or the politicians disband it. It is funded through the public purse. As are most of the organisations mentioned. What monies are they using for this action and where did they come from? Politicians can ask these questions. If any of it has come from the public purse, including in Legal Aid, the public has the right to know. This attack needs to be put out in the public gaze... I don't usually support the red tops, including The Mail, but it might be time to bring them in too. The Good Law Project needs to change its name too. I can think of several names but all too rude to be made public! And the head of the snake needs to be reported to the Law Society for spreading lies. Get him struck off!

What an appalling, shameful statement from Jolyon Maugham, and so patently untrue. How bad have things become that a group of lesbian, gay men and bisexuals people are described as a hate group and compared with white supremacists? For all the progress that has been made by LGB people and their supporters, such as securing same sex marriage and other legal protections, they continue to be vulnerable because homophobia continues to exist. Not least among TRA's, their 'allies', gender idealogues and Stonewall. Who appear to have ditched lesbians, diminished the G and B and, as we all know, massively prioritised the T.

They are the ones responsible for the divisions, not the LGB Alliance, and now for unrelenting bigotry and hatred. But for Maugham, the LGB Alliance are the problem, to the extent of being fascists, bankrolled by extremists who no doubt have all kinds of evil intentions. He knows it's bullshit but he's saying it anyway because he thinks it'll do him some good. Eventually, a point will be reached when that stops, leaving him with an awful lot of back peddling to do. I hope it'll be in vain, for him and all the others.

Expand full comment

It is unrelenting isn't it. It's the same script - to the word - that they use in Scotland with Lorna Slater recently being splashed all over the media for using it and the First Minister picking her words very carefully to give her support. It's all so unpleasant. Slippery explanations, excuses and non-apologies. Bigots, fascists, sexual racists, antisemites, they go for the set.

Expand full comment

They have to apply rousing buzzwords in their audacious hyperbole because they've failed to develop a coherent argument. What they do have is full of holes, it's inconsistent and contradictory. If something doesn't work they ditch it and go in another direction. But they have been successful in amalgamating virtually moronic with wholly obnoxious. That must be an achievement on some level.

Are Maugham and co. ever told they must document the veracity of their accusations?

I'm sickened by this.

Reading their actual tweet - "in line with our usual practice where a grantee is under investigation or review this grant is suspended."

So where does that leave Stonewall, and the pending Employment Tribunal case from Allison Bailey? If they've made any applications, will they have declared the investigation into their breach of the Equality Act?
