I didn't realise it was so hard to find the right link to get a subscription, so I've added a button. Hopefully it works!

My Guardian subscription runs out next month I won't be renewing. This is a far better use of my hard earned cash.

I too cancelled Guardian subscription and sent it to Glinner instead. I don't mind paying for journalism but I do expect journalism for my money and the Guardian no longer delivers that despite some good people hanging on in there - Catherine Bennett and Susannah Rustin, I'm looking at you.

Yes I did that too, soon after I peaked.

I shan't be cancelling my Spectator prescription. But that's OK, right? I mean you and I wouldn't go for a drink together in the real world but it's all good. We've parked our political allegiances and joined forces out of expediency to take out the TRASH.

Amirite? 😎

I so, SO hope that those who work for The Guardian are reading these comments about people leaving them to come here. Does my heart good to read such comments.

I would like to say to people who are considering a paid sub - 'Come on in - The water's lovely'.

I love you Graham! (metaphorically)!

I'm a recovering southern belle feminist from the States. I hate to be traditionalist, but damnit, there is a species of assertive leadership that is specifically, traditionally (yes) male, and thank you for friggin' stepping up to the plate a la 14th century notions of chivalry. The male conditioned ego for some reason (well, there are theories) doesn't apologize for itself like we do, and when you put that into motion, it means you take absolutely NO CRAP, and you put all of your strengths, including wit, into action to defend your cause from danger.

Thank you for putting your social capital into service for we gender critical women, who are dismayed to face a movement that is as misogynistic as the culture of the 19th century. I hope other men take a cue from your bravery.

how is it possible to metaphorically love someone? I get your appreciation of Graham but have become interested now in the idea of metaphorical love

Graham, I don't know if you have any control over the amount people pay, but I would be happy to pay a larger amount per month (as opposed to paying a year's subscription all in one).

We all appreciate all you and your excellent co-authors do!

Same! £4.99 is only half what I pay Netflix - and that is mostly crap (my daughters watch it though). I get WAY more entertainment from the weekly "Mess", then on top of that there's the loads of information from Substack.

Ditto. I am happy to do this too and what about a fund that people can put into, to be used for those that might need it .

There is something about lies and truth that we all know, and that good parents teach their kids: Lies are unsustainable, they eventually collapse. Only the truth is sustainable, in the finish, and it is better to tell the truth than a lie. Or, as Oscar Wilde put it. "If one tells the truth, one is sure, sooner or later, to be found out".

In the last few months I've cancelled my Liberal Democrats membership, and I've cancelled my Guardian subscription.

I've replaced them with this newsletter and The Economist.

I can't quite believe it, but I'm also considering also paying for The Times! A Murdoch paper! (Eww.) But... it actually looks decent these days. I'm so conflicted!

Just signed up for a subscription, I appreciate your work. This all came to a head when I wanted to sign up for a race. I am a man and I wanted to sign up for a men's category. I discovered the category no longer exists. The entry forms all ask for gender not sex. I went looking for a definition of gender and found a test that you can do, it asked how strongly you identified with particular statements such as "I glory in the sights and sounds of war" or "sometimes I call my friends just to chat" " I cry at sad movies" we have been told to challenge this stereotypical nonsense for decades. Upshot is I was categorised with 53% male gender and 47% female. This obviously changes based on how you are feeling on the day. The 47% female characteristics are very important to me and I would never turn my back on them. I made a choice there and then, if a race asks what sex I am I will enter as male 100%, if instead it asks what gender I am, I will put non-binary. Gender is now a meaningless term that asks us to place ourselves on an ever changing spectrum where we are on the scale changes on an hour by hour basis, by that definition alone none of us are binary. I am middle aged and slow and would never trouble the top 10 in any race. But guess what, if I enter as non-binary there is every chance I will win my category. I will feel absolutely no guilt about this especially as I will be taking nothing away from women who are being marginalised in sport as part of gender ideology. If I win any prize money it will go straight to womens organisations like for women Scotland. Now if they will just stop cancelling races so I can make my point and god help anyone who challenges my decision I will not be mis-gendered.

"‘The Bully Class’—who have discovered in trans rights activism and ideology a way to express their contempt for women, a contempt that gets them onto Woman’s Hour and women-only shortlists for book awards."

You have totally nailed it! That is exactly what this is! This is a men's rights movement.

I feel grateful to have the opportunity to be a paid subscriber--thank you!

thanks for your and the gender critical gang's on going hard work! sorry to mention this but looking through the 'highlights' - the porn/sissy porn article doesn't mention its history - its nothing new - being popularised by the the artist 'eric stanton' (way before the 'trans' movement really got going - definitely a 'cross dresser' thing - maybe there is a connection to the beaumont soc?- and their transition to being a trans org?) a little 'historical' pre- trans digging around the tavistock service would also be useful.

more from dom. the paper 'Identity and inability to mourn in The Skin I Live In'

October 2012The International Journal of Psychoanalysis 93(5):1308-13

DOI:10.1111/j.1745-8315.2012.00632.x

SourcePubMed - looks at the film 'the skin i live in' by pedro almodovar, who has featured an unlikeable transwoman character in 'all about my mother'. in the film the skin i live in the plastic surgeon dr ledgard - a troubled character who revengefully transes a young man to a beautiful woman and keeps 'her' imprisoned in his house/ hospital, is likened by dom to doctor frankenstein. (dom also mentions a connection between the 'autistic' label and the schzio-paranoid labelling- focusing on empathetic/systematic traits).
