I wish people wouldn’t use ‘choosing a nursing home’ as a revenge threat. It is an insult to a sector where most of the workers ( underpaid and underprivileged on the whole) struggle to care for the people whom their own relatives cannot or do not wish to bother with. Implying that care homes are staffed with people who delight in neglecting or tormenting the vulnerable is deplorable.
I don’t work there, but the care my relative received in both the homes she occupied for the last decade of her life was exemplary, and I don’t think from the experience of others, that she was ‘lucky’.
I hope not, I'm sure if that happened it would be unbearably traumatic and destructive. He has been she for most of her life, her sense of maleness was taken away psychologically and physically. There is no going back for any of it, so I hope Jackie can live a contented life as things are.
He has never really been a 'he' either. A female identity was imposed in early childhood and his body surgically altered to reflect that in adolescence. It was a monstrous form of child abuse, but it resulted in a change of career and celebrity for Green rather than punishment.
I was referring to the female identity that was imposed on him by his mother, she's explained the means she used to conclude her son was actually her daughter. Jack would have a very distorted sense of maleness, or of being treated as male, if you like. Maleness wasn't part of him, it had to be got rid of and modified so he could become what he really was. This process began before Jack was properly verbal, going on to puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery at age 16. This child didn't have a chance to become anything his mother didn't want or choose. I would say that believing she is female is essential to Jackie's survival.
