What's wonderful is that reminds people that the gender-critical position is the sensible and compassionate one, and they'll have to do a lot of work to argue against that now. it won't be all one-way traffic, if you know what I mean.

I wonder if we will see any of the literary invertebrates coming out in support of JKR now?

No. They don't they won't. Cowards are Bystanders. They will continue to remain silent.

no way. Its still not being seen for what it is. Publicly i mean. Sawing & drugging up children is still being seen as nice and kind.

Officially , Since She hasn't till date been seen as "Transphobe", yes general public will consider her opinion as unbiased , however the back lash over this is expected to be immense. I just hope the damn law is enacted before there is any back pedaling.

The beginning of the end, or the end of the beginning?

Either way, this is superb news! Everyone who has ever spoken out about this should be proud of themselves.👍

Stonewall are still listed as a resource. But this is still an amazing and massive step in the right direction :)

I'm delighted for the UK. I hope the irish government follows suit- like they do most of the time, while keeping that little fact quiet.

Wonderful news! Now my ‘tomboy’ granddaughter in England is protected from the toxic Stonewall / Mermaids ‘guidance’. I’m still extremely worried about my tomboy granddaughter in Scotland, however. I have yet to see any sign that the Scottish Government is planning to rethink its stance.

We're still fighting up here. It'll come.

I really hope so, Caroline. I’m not able to attend meetings or demonstrations but I can still write letters and emails and I can try to raise awareness of this issue with my family and friends. I’ve been shocked by how few people seem to be aware of what’s happening. JK Rowling has done a huge service to those trying to preserve women’s rights and safety because she’s such a globally well-known figure. It’s massively increased awareness of the issue and the abuse she’s receiving has been very revealing. It’s hard to maintain the ‘most vulnerable’ characterisation when TRAs and their supporters are subjecting her to an avalanche of death threats and vile abuse.

I’ve leafletted houses and flats and also outside at train stations etc. Most ordinary folk don’t know what’s going on and are horrified when you tell them. But that’s what the SNP wants. They want to keep the public ignorant so that they can push through changes to the GRA unnoticed and by that time, it’s too late to reverse them.

JK Rowling speaking out has done massive wonders to the cause in terms of making people aware. I also think that picking on her has been a massive own-goal for the TRAs and has backfired on them. And yes, you’re right. We are supposed to believe that they are THE most oppressed minority but their behaviour towards JKR and other people, particularly women, who speak out has shown otherwise.

Let's hope Scotland takes notice.

Unfortunately, I think it will only make the SNP and Greens double-down on their position so that they can appear to be more ‘progressive’ than down South.

I know what you mean... but I don't want to agree with you!! :-((

TRAs remind me of that game where you have to smack gophers on the head every time they pop out of a hole. You no sooner smack one, than another pops up...and another...and another.

“Planning to define transgender people out of existence”

No, I think you’ll find it’s your TRA pals planning to define women out of existence, Juliet.

Also, what rights for trans people have been revoked? Please tell us Juliet.

Apparently, we are the ones silencing them. We are the ones who wish violence and death upon them by not letting them use our loos.

If I were cynical I would say this explains the recent shift in the Mermaids literature to now denying toys and the like denote gender identity.

This has been a very good week

Sad how "a very good week" is effectively, "ok fine, we will stop teaching that gender stereotypes = gender," a point that I thought we had already reached by 1990.

I know. But with this and Liz Truss it’s all starting to even out. I imagine there will be some intense backlash shortly.

Look at the Crap MP. He is personally offended as if he was benefitting from the cash made through stonewall and mermaid. The nerve of him.
