Whatever she lacks, we need many more like her. Politicians who are prepared to give a clear and concise answer, rather than the usual dissembling or outright lies.
That was utterly beautiful! The serpentine, self-congratulatory sniping of Noakes against the stable and honest response from Badenoch was a delight to behold.
I know! I just watched it with sound off. Her tap-tapping on the computer, pretending she isn't trying to line up some 'gotcha'. Her smug little mini-smirk, and then going slightly red when Badenoch turns it back on her. What an arse.
Isn't that behavior typical of a certain class of people who were brought up to think they're superior to most everyone else? Have any of the BBC watchers on here ever listened to BBC reporters asking questions of African heads-of-state? Their tone and manner seem to be harkening back to about 1910, dripping with condescension and disdain. I have found it incredibly disconcerting.
And there we have it, their use of language totally misrepresenting the actual issue. It's not a problem with just anyone who identifies as trans, it's any male who identifies as female.
They say we want : 'transpeople to be banned from sport" (no: men should not be competing in women's sport - it's not fair on women).
They say we want "transwomen banned from rape crisis centres" (no - males should receive support separately from women).
They say we display "hatred against trans children" - no, we don't hate anyone. but we don't think little boys magically become little girls because they like some stereotypically 'feminine' things.
They say we 'want to put people into gender stereotypical boxes" - no, that's what THEY want. We think men can wear dresses. but it doesn't make them a woman. You think a woman is just someone who wears a dress...
More so than other politicians? I'll never forget the meeting she chaired with 3 or 4 trans academics and she was very polite and introduced them all with their academic titles and oozed obsequiousness. When she introduced the gender critical group, it was 'we have Kathleen, Rosa & Alice'. You'd have thought Profs Stock, Freedman & Sullivan worked in McDonald's and had just wandered in off the street. She was brusque with them too. Useless waste of space she is.
Wish I'd had a few bob on this one. You can spot an MP taking a long and rather obvious run up in these types of sessions with what they think are a gentle and subtle series of questions to lull their prey into a false sense of security, before pouncing with their gotcha question. Some of them let a smug smile or excitement at imminent victory leak out just a tad too soon. Oops. Sometimes witnesses are genuinely scared about having their careers destroyed (and are no shows or no comments). Inevitably giving a subpar performance, freezing or being caught out through nerves as the sharks circle as it rattles them too much to think straight (well it would, wouldn't it). But this was hardly a battle of wits. You saw Caroline beginning to fluster in the face of Kemi's steel when she was busily scrolling the screen in desperation. Ha ha my trump card! Did she really not know who Kemi is and her previous responses and refusal to be bullied or heckled? Ever? Gripping entertainment. Be more Kemi everyone!
On the Radio 4 Today programme 21st Dec 2021, Caroline Nokes said
a) That a male gaining a GRC should be as easy as filling in an online form - no waiting, not ‘living in role’, no medical assessment
yet also
b) No woman would be endangered by males gaining access to single sex places set aside for girls and women, because identifying as a woman takes a lot of thought
So she said two completely contradictory things
And given that possession of a GRC enables any male: including intact males who have committed sexual offences, to be RIGHT NOW placed in women prisons (and women have been assaulted there by these men) she really can't seem to see see that what the Women (sic) and Equalities Committee proposes an egregious safeguarding loophole?
Nokes seems to have no idea that if a few males will: train as priests, sports coaches and teachers; but Boarding Schools, and groom single women with children in order to easier access, what is to stop males identifying as female on the click of a button in order to do the same?
It is extremely disappointing that the Committee does not seem to understand that safeguarding is predicated upon the worst case scenario; that proper safeguarding does not consider some people to be above its strictures. It is not because transwoman are trans that they should be treated differently from women, it is because they are MALE.
It is extremely disappointing that the women and Equalities Committee has not listened to women. And I think Nokes with her smug face an 'be kind' rubbish, its at the forefront of that
Doesn't even require those men *to have* a GRC. We have men *right now* who can simply say they are "trans" and demand access to women's spaces on that basis. Self ID is in place by default whilst various official bodies turn a blind eye to the EA2010 act. Frankly "Gender reassignment" which is strictly speaking (in the EA & GRC) a *medical condition*, should NOT be a protected characteristic any more than someone who has Cancer is "protected" *except under disability*.
Why was "Gender reassignment" given protected status when no other mental health or medical condition has been given protected status?
"We know they are lying. They know they are lying. They know that we know they are lying. We know that they know that we know they are lying. Yet still they continue to lie"
But it's so much better in the U.S. where no one knows "they are lying." I'll never forget Solzhenitsyn's words about the U.S., basically that we're a bunch of spoiled brats.
That video was a joy to watch, although while it shows Kemi Badenoch effortlessly wiping the floor with Caroline Noakes, Noakes probably imagines it shows her "exposing a transphobe." That's how indoctrinated people think.
Noakes knows better than to ask any follow-up questions but probably manages to convince herself that her 'work on behalf of tolerance and inclusivity is done.' Badenoch's calm articulacy and reasoned, balanced logic is the thing the gender kool-aid mob fear the most.
I think she'd try her very very best to put his needs before her won and squash down any genuine emotion. Who knows, she may know a very nice transidentifying man and this be behind her blinkered outlook?
I'm trying to find that Channel 4 interview with the Tavistock spokeswoman who admitted that they were not researching the sudden influx of young girls being admitted. Was it with Maitlis? I can't find it anywhere. Please help!
BBC Newsnight: Detransitioners, Reversing a Gender Transition. The part you refer to is just over the half way point - interview with dr Elizabeth Van Horne, Psychiatrist (who comes over as both obfuscatory, out of her depth and supercilious - IMO)
Yes, that's it, thanks. It makes my skin crawl. She admits that they hadn't considered looking at the data! There's currently one gender clinic in Scotland that admits young people. I hope they will be held up to public scrutiny following the recent changes.
I found it utterly extraordinary. The clinic has been running for 30 years and they have no data. Do you know about the Cass Review of Gender Identity Services? I am not sure, but would hope, it covers the Scottish GIDs?
These questions are always positioned in such a way as to portray 'trans' kids as being 'banned'. What if the answer was, 'I would have no problem with my children sharing a dormitory room with other children of the same sex, no matter how they identified. My children are accepting of gender non-conformity.'
AFAIK, the job of the Committee, is to scrutinise what the Minister (KM) and their Dept does, This Committee seems to be, with the exception of 2 members, a self-selecting set of ideologically-captured dolts who seem to be determined to resurrect self-ID. Nokes, I think is deeply envious and I have heard, not well liked.
Caroline Noakes just outed herself as a men's sexual rights activist.
Haha, yes!!
OMFG!! Kemi uses clear language and asks for clear definitions. Be like Kemi
Yes. She's impressive. Which in our current situation, might simply mean she has a modicum of intelligence
Although yes, I do like the cut of her jib
Whatever she lacks, we need many more like her. Politicians who are prepared to give a clear and concise answer, rather than the usual dissembling or outright lies.

Yes. If you watch the whole thing, the superior attitude towards Badenoch is really obvious. Very unpleasant.
And there we have it, their use of language totally misrepresenting the actual issue. It's not a problem with just anyone who identifies as trans, it's any male who identifies as female.
Yes. It's so boring:
They say we want : 'transpeople to be banned from sport" (no: men should not be competing in women's sport - it's not fair on women).
They say we want "transwomen banned from rape crisis centres" (no - males should receive support separately from women).

Noakes for the blokes.
Just feel there’s something not right about Caroline. Is it just me?

Nope, not just you.

No. She's not very bright. She's privileged and she doesn't listen.
Snot-nosed was the term from my childhood.
No
Gotta love Kemi 💘

The most telling thing here is that Noakes is so obviously uncomfortable defining trans.
"We know they are lying. They know they are lying. They know that we know they are lying. We know that they know that we know they are lying. Yet still they continue to lie"
Alexander Solzhenitsyn
All of this.
But it's so much better in the U.S. where no one knows "they are lying." I'll never forget Solzhenitsyn's words about the U.S., basically that we're a bunch of spoiled brats.

I know. Her last comment has her thinking "I just got the bigot to admit she thinks boys aren't girls!"
Ugh, Caroline with the 'beee kind again'. .
"Be Kind" is the new term for "Do as I say and be a doormat I can wipe my feet on".
So embarrassed by women who do this generally. Unacceptable for politicians - this has to stop
I can't help wondering how sweet Caroline would react, if her husband one fine day declared that he wanted to "become a woman".
I think she'd try her very very best to put his needs before her won and squash down any genuine emotion. Who knows, she may know a very nice transidentifying man and this be behind her blinkered outlook?
* her own needs
I will disagree. I can somehow picturing her screaming at the top of her lungs and throwing a tantrum. All that posh self-control leaks out somewhere!
good point

Thank you. Yes as per they are all working for Stonewall and not the people.
