I’m a Conservative party member and I’ll have a vote in the final member vote. I’m watching very carefully what they all say over this issue. I definitely won’t be voting for PM if she makes the final two. I have a long memory….

Let's treat Mordaunt as an opportunity to discuss the harms of gender ideology with people who haven't previously considered the issue.

It will matter less what her twin brother thinks if it is politically impossible for her to act on what he believes.

Here is the text from an email I sent (below). If anyone wants to use it, please feel free. (I made sure the text was in large font and I highlighted several important sections in bold in order to catch their eye. No point being subtle.)

Dear [...]

I'm a Conservative voter and I am writing with a request which I hope you will read.

Please consider voting for Kemi Badenoch for leader of the Conservative Party.

For multiple reasons, Kemi is the candidate who would most frighten and most discomfort Labour, the Lib Dems, the BBC and the anti-Tory media.

In particular, her incredible bravery in standing up against censorious culture warriors and fighting for freedom of speech is needed now more than ever.

Too many Conservatives ignore the culture wars with an attitude of "oh, it's just trivial nonsense" or "if we ignore it then it will go away", but this is the exact opposite of reality.

If the culture wars aren't fought now then they will be lost and our most important institutions (schools, universities, the NHS, etc) will be completely consumed by anti-science, anti-freedom, anti-Tory zealots.

The Conservatives need to stop underestimating the scale of this issue, as Boris Johnson has done throughout his time in office.

The worst possible decision the party could now make would be to elect a leader who only pays lip service to the culture wars (Rishi Sunak) or who openly supports it (Penny 'transwomen are women' Mordaunt).

Penny Mordaunt in particular would be an absolute gift to Labour because she wouldn't be able to call Kier Starmer out on his culture war cowardice given that she herself has regularly espoused embarrassing woke rhetoric.

I hope you will consider voting for Kemi for the reasons expressed above. Ask yourself: which of the candidates standing for Conservative leader would most frighten Labour? There is only one answer.

Kindest regards,

[...]

I had a comment btl in the Guardian which was withdrawn and I am stunned “Kemi Badenoch, female, black, well educated and straight talking. What’s not to like Guardian readers?”

Can you see what is offensive. I wonder if it’s using the controversial word female.

Re. Baroness Emma, No doubt Shona Robison will again be saying, no man has ever pretended to be something that they are not in order to abuse women and children - this is the kind of maniac we are being governed by in the UK. State sponsored sexual abuse of women and children is not what we expect our government to oversee - this is utterly despicable.

Kemi B, is receiving (what I perceive to be bad press), because she is opposing the current proposed online safety bill, - the incomplete coverage of her reasons for this are not being properly reported, it would appear. I fear that Paul Dacre's influence is spreading behind the Daily Mail, (as he chases that elusive knighthood).

If you have a Tory MP please please use the automated letter facility on the Women’s Rights Network website to help convince your MP not to back Mordaunt who has been outed as a liar and is a committed trans ally. Anyone can access this letter at https://www.womensrights.network/

Agree, the repercussions will be wide. In Wales we are fighting Welsh Gov who are stonewalls biggest donor. When a Tory MS recently asked Drakeford what a woman is he answered ‘ I take the same start point as Penny Mordaunt, transwomen are women’. She is labours ideal Tory PM and if she gets in self-ID will happen in Wales as well as Scotland.

Good for her! Shame we have to even state the obvious in this way. No safeguarding or duty of care whatsoever. And yes…illegal and risky disinhibited male misdeeds and misbehaviour as usual and criminally targeting women and children.

If PM makes the last 2 as expected the tv debates may be based on questions submitted by the public. I think the Staniland question is highly appropriate. There’s a tendency for politicos to cite the TWAW mantra, or purportedly uphold the Equality Act but avoid the practical specifics. They all must be pushed on that, not just asked to define woman.

I fully expect PM to get pulled up in the debates over this and um and err her way out of the running. I don't want Sunak either, but I think that's probably what we'll get. Badenoch would be great, therefore she'll soon be eliminated...

I have already emailed my support for Kemi Badendoch, to my MP Andrew Stephenson.

Andrew's aide informed me that Andrew has just been made, I think it is Chairman of the Conservative's. He went on to say that he cannot vote, or influence the voting, at all.

Are there any Conservatives that could explain this to me, please.

I will be emailing, and writing to Andrew, with my thoughts re Penny Mordaunt.

Kemi will be a breath of fresh air, and looking to the next general election, she would run circles round Starmer et al. Kemi is young, tough and very intelligent.

Kemi for Prime Minister.

I've already sent my own letter to my nearest Tory MP (my actual MP is Lib Dem). Rather than push for Kemi, I just laid out my reasons for "anyone but Penny". He was supporting Nadhim Zahawi, to which I said "fine but if he drops out, please don't support Penny"! Thought that had a better chance of success than pushing for a particular candidate. Not my MP so I might be ignored, but I did my best.

I literally think a donkey would be better than her - she's worse than Boris in every way.

I actually have reservations about Kemi - she's a great speaker and calls a spade a spade, but quite right-wing about a lot of things - I fear another Thatcher.
