One of the most shocking spins on this latest scandal that I've heard is that children wouldn't need to go behind their parents' back if they had supportive parents.

A short timeline:

* 2017 - Mermaids implicated in high court case surrounding the medicalised abuse of a child.

* 2019 - The National Lottery gives funding to Mermaids, in spite of said court case

* 2020 - in an act of spite against JK Rowling, Emma Watson brags about donating money to Mermaids and suggests her followers, many of whom are children themselves, will "Perhaps feel inclined to do the same".

If - or when - Mermaids go down, perhaps we will feel inclined to hold their enablers to account, too.

I'd like to remind everyone of the LUSH binders scandal, and let you know that even after that, 'progress' pride flags have been seen in store.

Everyone's saying "the Charity Commission should investigate", but I'd also like an analysis from criminal lawyers, to let us know if any crimes have been committed.

How this organisation is still in operation is beyond me. Here's hoping their absolutely audacity in trying to erase LGB Alliance as a charity will backfire on them spectacularly.

Mermaids have issued a statement.

Didn’t Dr Belinda Blair state in the recent tribunal with LGBA that “they don’t do medical stuff”? I hope this comes up when it resumes...

Where I worked LGBTQIA+++++ group members (found in most large workplaces on the company’s intranet/Slack ) were fund raising for Mermaids (in work time) - they used a public crowd funding platform to take the donations. The IT department reminded me of Moss in the IT Crowd - writing code speedily to stop the fund raiser being googleable by the public. Employers are terrified of their staff. This activism in the workplace should have had its day by now and Mermaids should have been closed down a long time ago

If you Google 'Met Police Breast Ironing' you'll find a page about the practice of flattening young girls' breasts with hints that this is a cultural practice like FGM. It clearly states "Sometimes, an elastic belt, or binder, is used".

The page notes that this is not illegal in the UK but says "This is a form of child abuse."

The page gives advice on "What to do if you're concerned about someone".

How about we bombard the police with complaints of child abuse against Mermaids?

As far as I am concerned Mermaids is an organisation that promotes child abuse and how it got lottery funding and it is still going is beyond me. That magic trans sparkle dust. Personally I'd like to see it being bought up on multiple criminal charges and Susie Green facing the same for the harm they have done.

UK chest binding ok✔️

UK law on breast-ironing illegal❌

CPS legal guidance makes clear to police & prosecutors that breast-ironing is a crime that can be caught under existing law even if it is said that the victim has consented

That ‘Mermaids', the institution, has chosen a mythical hybrid body, half human, half animal, as its ‘brand,’ signals clearly its ‘transhumanism’ intention, and its revulsion towards the actual human body. It must be removed from the real world of real bodies, and be relegated back into the land of myth.

I see you can complain ti the Police: Contact the police on 101 if you suspect illegal activity. What they are doing has to be illegal?

It seems to me that Mermaids is engaging in an actionable crime called alienation of affection. This means actively behaving so as to cause a child to reject the family's love for them, influencing the person to sever the relationship. This is especially clear when "glitter families" are offered as a substitute for the natal family. It would probably have to come from detransitioners, as a class action, as only they can identify the groups/individuals at Mermaids who told them to reject their parents and everything they say. So much of it happens online behind a cloak of anonymity.
