That's a powerfully worded warning. I hope it's getting widespread attention.

I may be harsh, but I don't think ignorance is ever an excuse for these companies when they donate money - they should do their due diligence. I've been following the work of the Justice Defence Fund to hold Mindgeek accountable for the non-consensual videos posted on Pornhub. They have been holding businesses that enable them to operate accountable and putting pressure on them to withdraw their services and this has included huge companies like Visa. I think the same needs to be done for Mermaids. The businesses that enable them need pressure put on them and to be held accountable.

Oh I agree, BlackieKat. And you're not harsh. Big companies and corporations need to and should do exacting research into the groups and charities they fund. But it rarely happens (they're usually more interested in the marketing and tax breaks than actually helping a good cause!). I think many assume if a charity is registered it must be legit. And, as we know, anything involving LGBTQIA++ groups has cache at the moment. Mermaids' funders should be held accountable. But I also think that, in the days to come, when we've won the gender war and the dust settles, there needs to be peace, reconciliation and a moving forward. We need to give people the space and the opportunity to admit they were wrong. A golden bridge.

I'm not reconciling with the people who did know better. Those who should have known better - maybe. Those who could have known better - perhaps. Those who didn't know better - yes. But for the likes of Susie Green - never.

Susie Green is one of the prime ‘trans’ cult leaders in Britain. She needs to be held accountable for her crimes. Pushing puberty blockers, cheerleading surgeries on healthy bodies, pushing the despicable and emotionally manipulative lie of ‘trans’ suicide, destroying children’s bodies and psyches. All to assuage her guilt for what she did to her own son. Look at the pain and suffering she’s caused because she refused to face the harm she caused to her own child. She has personally created a bulwark of British family tragedies to protect her own conscience. It’s difficult to fathom such cowardice.

Don't forget her contribution to woke homophobia.

So true. Another one of her hideous crimes.

Great writing!

As an aside, I look at pictures of Green's son/daughter and wonder what he/she thinks of what the Greens did to him/her. I certainly wouldn't like to be paraded about like some sort of trophy child. And all the while knowing that the parents put him on lifelong medication and through painful surgery simply because he was the wrong type of boy. We'll probably never know. Sometimes, I think that Mrs Green does all this because she wants the consolation of other 'corrected' children being out there as some sort of crazy consolation for her child.

Thank you, Suzanne! My heart breaks for Jackie. To me he always looks like a Stepford wife. I think he has to play along for his own sake, rather than confront the full horror of what was done to him by his own parents. (His father - who couldn't have a gay son - is just as culpable.) He could have a had a perfectly healthy and happy normal life if just left in peace to grown up a feminine gay man. Poor thing.

It's simply horrendous. Such a hideous burden for such a young person.

A key question is will detransitioners in-the-future be able to enact a class action that encompasses Dr Martens, Starbucks, The National Lottery, Wagamama, the BBC...for funding the abuse enacted on them, in addition to the medical authorities responsible and Mermaids itself?

I suspect of the corporate sponsors, only Dr Martens and Wagamama wouldn't be able to escape paying damages as the others could claim that insufficient knowledge of what Mermaids were up to was available at-the-time. Dr Martens and Wagamama though couldn't easily escape as at the time they announced their sponsorship there was plenty of data available in the public sphere that Mermaids were both institutionally abusive towards children and were promoting homophobia.

Ooo she has been raking it in, can’t wait to see Green finally get her maniac-arse kicked!

Kicked into a prison cell - perhaps her cellmate will be a 'transwoman'.

I'd pay ready money to see that! :D

Whichever local authority Mermaids operates in should be investigating them under safeguarding.

According to their website there's an office in Yeadon, which comes under Leeds and an office in London. Their safeguarding policy states: '3.1: the welfare of children is paramount in all the work Mermaids does and in all the decisions we take'

And one lucky employee (possibly the Chief Executive, but not necessarily so - the Charity Commission requires the salary to be disclosed, but not the recipient) gets paid between £60,000 and £70,000 per year for being involved in managing all this harm.

Well done for unveiling this information. These collaborators should be boycotted by every rational and caring person. Do they even know what they're supporting ? Thankfully ,I don't buy from any of them but that's more of a happy accident than by design. This ideology is so pervasive that we don't always know if we're contributing to a movement that we absolutely abhor. Thanks very much for this post x

Thank you JL, your article is so good and should be in mainstream media. Your writing and research are always great. You’ve said everything (and more and obviously so much better) that I said when I copy pasted the Telegraph article on to my Fb page about their investigation into the vile organisation Mermaids on 26th September with the report that the Charities Commission are going to look into investigating them. Here’s what I said -

‘All of the corporate organisations, all the government organisations entrusted with education, health, policing and safeguarding, the various celebrities … all taken in by the utter wrongdoing of this vile so-called Charity: Mermaids. And all of us that spoke the truth about them, that alerted and warned, all of the women’s organisations that spoke up - all called bigots and transphobes. Well, you all enabled these harms to be perpetrated on children. Time to speak up and apologise. Time to call for an investigation, for the immediate removal of their ‘training’ material from schools, NHS local trusts and the police, from everywhere. Time for the perps to be prosecuted. ‘

I’ve shared your article on Fb and E-mailed to non-Fb friends. All your links, the whole article show so clearly how the fact that big organisations validate something as harmful and wrong and with unqualified people that recommend to illegal medics like the Webberley monster - doesn’t mean that organisation is okay. Awareness training? - your article and everything that Glinner does, everything that all the women’s organisations are doing, including JK, Maya, Allison Bailey - so many! - all this work is the real awareness training. Truth and reality awareness. It needs to be out there as much as possible. Thank you all for everything you do.

Thinking of writing to all the relevant UK chief execs - would you mind if I borrow some of your research from here (with accreditation) or linking to this page? I feel now is the time for a concerted effort using all avenues, so also thinking of penning something to the Charity Commission.
