LGB Alliance receive Twitter ban for sharing crucial health information for gay men
The harassment of the charity continues
A same-sex charity has been censored for calling for action that could save gay men’s lives.
In fact the story is even more ridiculous than that.
The LGB Alliance was the first lesbian, gay and bisexual UK charity to share government health advice about monkeypox, which has so far predominantly spread among gay and bisexual men, shortly after the first case was confirmed.
As the virus started spreading among gay and bisexual men, and the news of this became a global story, the likes of Stonewall tweeted … mainly about gender identity but did finally mention monkeypox nearly three and a half days after the LGB Alliance first did. Stonewall has since tweeted more about Pansexual Visibility Day than the virus.
Articles are now appearing in the mainstream media warning that gay men’s health is potentially being put at risk due to poor public public awareness campaigns about monkeypox. The growth of the spread has been linked to a Pride event in the Canary Islands, a sauna in Madrid and other gay venues in Europe, but many gay men, it seems, are unaware of the risks. As one article in The Atlantic, written by a gay man who is an expert in the history of infectious disease, puts it: “For fear of stirring up animus against gay men, officials today may be underplaying the role of sexual transmission. [Monkeypox] is prone to spread in situations where people with exposed skin are together in close quarters.”
With this in mind and as the news came through that there have now been more than 100 cases confirmed in the UK, the LGB Alliance called for all commercial sex venues to be closed for a month, to stop the spread.
This mild measure that could potentially save lives was too much for some though. Patrick Harvie, co-leader of the Scottish Greens, and a Scottish government minister, compared the LGB Alliance to a recently-deceased policeman who once called for homosexuality to be criminalised.
That’s the same Patrick Harvie who was fully in favour of Covid lockdown restrictions for the general population, albeit not for himself, who, as one of his first jobs as a minister, voted for vaccine passports despite having spoken out against them just before his election, and was furious that plans to reopen schools in late 2020 for two days a week might happen.
Other activists joined in and Twitter removed the tweets.
The LGB Alliance appealed and Twitter has reinstated the tweets.
This, though, is the world we now live in. The hatred of some gay or bisexual men like Owen Jones, Benjamin Cohen and Patrick Harvie for an LGB charity that exclusively caters to people who are same sex-attracted is such that they’re willing to oppose or obscure important public health advice which mostly benefits gay and bisexual men.
This is the new homophobia.
Such cognitive dissonance is so hard to understand. Unbelievable that so many gay men support Stonewall's " "trans " ideology. Don't they realise that TQ+++ is the most homophobic movement we've ever seen ,and to attack the LGB Alliance for trying to protect the health of gay men just beggars belief!🤔 This ideology is destroying the human brain , that's for sure.🤮💔😢😭
Thanks for sharing this. The more information is in the public domain about this virus, how it seems to spread, where etc, the better.
