I have a friend who agrees with JKR but can't follow her (or me) on twitter because she is trying to get published. She did a creative writing MA and has written two brilliant children's books but she knows the horde would come after her if she even followed someone with the wrong thoughts. It's chilling.

Serious question - are there any publishers who do not follow the current fad for dissociating themselves from people who know what reality is? If not, does anyone know how to set up a publishing house?

Caroline Hardman at Hardman and Swainson is the agent for Helen Joyce and Dr Kathleen Stock. She's a rare, brave beast in the industry though.

self-publish? maybe have a look at feminist presses from the 70's/80's -onlywoman/sheba/thewoman'spress/virago?

If I hear one more person spout “Where are the feminists? If they agree with JKR why aren’t women speaking up about this?” Especially on social media - I think I will smash the screen by sitting on it with my middle aged, big woman’s arse.

It only every honest and brave person who supports JK Rowling would have the courage to stand with her and thoroughly condemn the bullies who are persecuting her so horribly !! The majority of people (of both sexes) know that sex is real and immutable and that " transwomen " are MEN and that " transmen" are WOMEN.The human brain cannot sustain this lie forever and TRUTH will rise to the surface like the Phoenix rising from the ashes !! As Graham says ,this is akin to Nazi ideology and the parallels to that are plain to see !!

esp the video clips on social media - and see how the soundbites/vilification used by transactivists contrasts with the unicorn rainbow fluffiness of the visuals.

Seriously people need to speak up its like when women were putting up with sexual harassment before the Me Too movement.

Everyone is living in fear. If the truth means something speak up for it...because who knows what the next ideology will be.

Plus we've seen how easily women and girls rights are abandoned in Afghanistan, don't think it can't happen here.

The comment from the actor in the HP franchise, that he won't work with the franchise again unless JKR isn't involved with it....makes my blood boil so madly! How daaaaare he? JK made his fortune, he'd be a nobody without her. I'm assuming it's Dan Radcliffe who said this as he signed his name to that atrocious bit of nonsense written for him by Mermaids. That made my blood boil last year and I've been steaming ever since.

Obviously he's just a sycophantic ,self serving little weed ,totally lacking in honesty or integrity. Sadly ,he is far from the only one who's prepared to sell his soul to the devil in order to further his " career " !! I hope it bombs !!

I think it was Eddi Redmayne. It maybe that he felt he needed to say that having previously played Einar Wegener known as "Lili Elbe", Edwardian male who lived and had early surgery to "transform" him into a simulcrum of a female (even Edwardian photos of him in a dress show him still to be male). He had 4 surgical procedures between 1930 and 1931. The final one implanted a uterus and created a pseudo channel in place of a vagina. Within 3 months, his body rejected the uterus and though it was removed, he died of a cardiac failure on 13 September 1931.

Whether Eddi did feel he had to be in support of trans because of his role or not, he had no right to speak about JK Rowling in that way. None.

All respect I had for him previously disappeared at that point. It was needless, and deliberately cruel. He should have known better.

The other three being younger I give a tiny bit of free pass too....not much. They could have kept silent.

Also, TRANSPLANTED A UTERUS!!!

Also, having met JK very briefly and getting a real sense of her goodwill and kindness, I feel I can't give the "youngsters" a pass to be honest. They were all adults last year when they stabbed Joanne in the back. They had all worked closely with her and knew her well. Their behaviour is unforgivable without a sincere apology for the woman they owe their livelihood to.

Absolutely agree.!! Utterly disloyal ,all 3 of them!!

Ahh, thanks for that. I was hovering between it being Daniel or him.

We have to make choices in life and I’ve never been fond of the weak willed. Will the silent actresses speak up when it’s their jobs being taken?

Expand full comment

They tend to remain silent because their jobs will be taken from them.
