Leave Birdy and Doozer alone
A young artist and her bloke are being ruthlessly harassed
Many of you will be familiar with the work of Birdy Rose. She’s got a luminous, stained glass style that I love. Above is her portrait of Buck Angel, a trans elder who is despised by trans rights activists for his gender-critical views. Like almost everyone in the GC movement, she has done precisely nothing wrong, and her beliefs—that sex is real, that women exist, that their rights must be protected—are themselves protected under the Equality Act.
Well, if you’ve been following the antics of trans rights activists for a while, you know what happens next.
They seem nice, don’t they? Only joking! They’re a bunch of bullies targeting a woman because they don’t think anyone is watching. I wouldn’t have been as kind as Birdy in removing their names. They deserve exposure. As Debbie Hayton once put it “They’re the bullies even the other bullies despise. The bullies who bully girls.”
This is Birdy’s fiancé, Doozer McDooze, a musician, with one of his dependable crowd-pleasers.
Doozer is a sensitive soul who adores Birdy and is genuinely confused as to what she is saying that deserves so much scorn, derision and hate. So he asked straight out on Facebook.
One of the responses he received is a classic of the shaming genre, full of the usual rote phrases and containing no actual detail of what she is saying that is so offensive.
For every Birdy who stands up and takes the hit, there are a thousand women too frightened to speak up.
And no wonder they’re afraid. As in the case of Jenny Kimmel, Birdy’s stalkers know where she and Doozer live and are slandering her on local message boards.
Twitter accounts regularly pop up to add to the harassment.
Luckily, Birdy is a fighter, smart as a whip and tough as nails. She takes screengrabs of everything and is building a case against the people harassing her. I’m more worried about Doozer. He’s perplexed and upset. He still doesn’t know what’s wrong with what Birdy is saying and why the woman he loves is so despised. He doesn’t know why so many former friends are treating them like pariahs.
I know from experience the kind of stress their relationship is being placed under by these silly yet dangerous people. So keep an eye on them both. Buy Birdy’s art, follow her on Twitter, visit Doozer’s site. Ensure the voices of their sadistic former friends are not the only ones they hear.

I’m sorry to hear he genuinely didn’t know that women are harrassed on any pretext to silence, exploit and oppress them as a class. The only sadder thing is that women themselves don’t see it due to conditioning to accept the unacceptable and internalised misogyny we all get steeped in. It’s everywhere and overwhelming as is the evidence to us all and undeniable. Unfortunately it’s only after suffering it too much and in silence do women realise it isn’t them personally but because of their sex. The relief of self blame or blaming other powerless women (and a very few men) is equal only to the horror of how women and often their children are treated universally to maintain the patriarchy and just how cunning and evil it’s faces are.
I have the pleasure of knowing Birdy personally and we live in same small town - this shameful and targeted harassment has been going on for a long time and now its time for these pathetic self absorbed narcissists to be called out on their appalling vindictive attacks on Birdy knowing that sex is observed at birth, men's feelings are not paramount and that only same sex attracted people are homosexuals.
