Who wrote this? It's brilliant. I've heard that excuse about this being a fringe issue so many times from friends who live in the UK, and I'm not articulate enough to explain why it isn't. This is exactly what I need to send them

Sorry for barging in, a little off topic but not entirely since I'd like to enquire of anyone who might know of a writer called Amanda MacLean who as guest writer for the Communist Party's "Weekly Worker" wrote some absolutely exquisite and burning hot articles on the gender craze. She is at any rate articulate enough and more to explain why this is not just a fringe issue. However the Weekly Worker has not published anything of hers for over a year, so I'm wondering if she has gone somewhere else, and if anyone here knows where? More than keen to follow her and read anything she produces.

Here's my letter to Labour, accompanied by my membership number. Needless to say I have not received a reply.

_________________________________

Dear [Labour]

I am in the unfortunate position, for the first time in my life, of being unsure of whether I wish Labour to win an election.

I know that, as a woman, a feminist and someone who cares deeply about child wellbeing, I am not alone.

In conscience I cannot vote for, or support in any way, a party I believe does not support my rights and those of other women and girls.

Any party that supports the indoctrination of children into early sexualisation, deluded thinking and the possibility of irreversible damage to their minds and bodies loses the right, in my eyes, to any consideration as fit to take our country forward into the future.

A party that lacks the intellectual rigour to critically interrogate philosophical and political movements to which it allies itself and lacks the backbone to allow proper debate of the consequences is not a party I can be assured would make the right decisions for the right reasons in government.

A party that denies reality and demands that I repeat the lies, that I deny the evidence of my own eyes and experiences and that I participate in a mass delusion is not a party I can ever trust.

I am not a transphobe, a bigot or a shill for right wing extremists. I come from a proud left wing tradition.

I feel that you would rather support a movement that actively and abusively campaigns against me than listen to my voice.

I know that some assurances have been given by Kier and some colleagues but these are always compromised by other statements; for example, it is pointless assuring me that the party will protect women's rights if we differ on who is included under the umbrella of 'woman'.

I want to support the party and I want to hear from you that I can do so without abandoning my deeply held and fundamental principles..

Please help me and the many others in the same position as me to feel we can use our voices, our efforts and our votes to help elect a Labour government.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'll update if I ever receive a response. I won't be holding my breath though I will be holding my nose and voting Conservative unless Labour changes their stance on this.

Excellent article! All of it but this hits the nail right on the head:

"If Starmer finds it hard to stand up for women and children’s rights against what is essentially a noisy shrieking mob with banners and Twitter followings, what hope has he of leading a country? How would he deal with big business or world leaders? How would he deal with Putin?

Starmer is educated, and like many famous people, he didn’t hold these views until five minutes ago. How can voters trust a man who denies biological reality and does so merely to score points with an increasingly deranged and relatively small base? How can women trust someone who was so quick to give away their rights on an ideology based in narcissism, porn, and bad faith?"

I've always voted Labour, but I won't be in the next election, I'd feel a bit like a turkey voting for Christmas. A lot of northern working-class women I know vote Conservative now, we just look at Starmer, Thornberry and Lammy spouting their nonsense and want to vomit. Labour do not represent the working class or women, so they can do one as far as I'm concerned.

For me it's the most important issue of our time because it's about the fundamental democratic right to be able to live according to what you know to be rational. If you lose that, anything's possible.

We've already got chemical and surgical mutilation of kids, women exposed to dangerous men, people locked up for refusing to deny biological reality (in Ireland) and the compulsory teaching of Queer Theory-style paedophilia and anti-scientific ideology to primary school kids (in Wales) - and this is just the beginning of the ideological grip,.

So whoever stands up and admits what we all know to be true, gets my vote. Right now I can't see any of them doing that but maybe the Tavistock trial will change the conversation. Or even just start one.

We desperately need a move away from the established main parties. The SDP under William Clouston’s leadership seem to be the only party willing to publicly nail their colours to the mast regarding biological sex-based rights. Their other policies actually make sense too. Maybe we should be turning to them?

Sadly there is no real chance of candidates for smaller parties getting into Parliament under the first past the post system. This may be why the parties often don’t always listen to the mainstream. Most constituencies in England are controlled by one party and will elect a right wing loon or a left wing loon.

Expand full comment

But you don't need MPs to change policy. What about Nigel Farage and his various iterations of trying - desperately - to get into Parliament? They never achieved a single MP elected under their banner (only 2 Tory defectors), and yet here we all are, out of Europe, because they made enough noise and got enough votes all over the country to terrify the Tories and Labour into changing their policies to one of madness. You might say look at the Trans Lobby too - what a huge influence that has had to the detriment of women and children in the UK, and yet the only "trans" MP is a previously elected Tory frightened of getting arrested if he was just an ordinary bloke who drove his car into a lamppost while drunk, but found that doing it while trans made him brave and otherwise immune from approbation.

Make enough noise and you don't need to get a single MP because the political parties that exist now will bend to your will. The problem seems to be that women just don't have the chutzpah to do it. Hey Posie P, fancy starting a political party?

I think Posie Parker is considering standing If Eddie Izzard is selected for Sheffield. That would be great.

Expand full comment

But we need a new party that promotes an agenda for women. One Labour MP on her own is not going to change very much ( outside of her own constituency perhaps). We need a party with candidates all over the country, promoting an agenda that makes sense for women (and men supporting women) and for whom women vote. A mere 2 million or so votes later (considering we have a potential 30 odd million), and Labour will drop the trans agenda like a hot brick.

Expand full comment

I don't think Posie is standing as a labour party candidate. The Labour Party wouldn't support her anyway. She would stand as an independent....with no expectation of winning. It would be to force the conversation right out into the open, in the doorsteps, in the media....the mainstream media ignore her. If she stood against Izzard, the contrast would be stark, the *national* media could not ignore her....Posie would not be quiet....the debate would be out and the entire country would be watching one small constituency. The spotlight would be blinding. It would be a stroke of genius on Posie's part.

The problem with the 'no one to vote for" stance is that not voting is effectively casting a vote in our system; in the next GE an abstention will be a vote for Labour.

I am a Labour party member and a lifelong supporter. I despise the Conservative party.

I have always voted on principle and in the next election I shall be voting on the principles of child safeguarding and women's rights. If that means voting Conservative then so be it.

We need new parties or independents

Expand full comment

We do.

But new parties struggle to make any impact in our two party system and independents are unable to sway policy.

Quite frankly I think our best hope is that the Conservatives manage to remake themselves as a pragmatic just right of centre party. We'll all know they're doing it for political survival rather than out of conviction but I don't think we can afford to get precious and purist about politics any more.

Making "misgendering" a crime is going to harm disabled and neurodiverse people too. I'm autistic and even though I'm high functioning, I can't lie convincingly or keep track of gender nonsense in social situations - I'm already having to actively concentrate on and process the other person's body language, facial expressions and tone of voice and manage my own, as well as follow the content of the conversation, because they don't come naturally to me. I will just say what I see. Lots of us are brutally honest to the point of rudeness, which is something we try to work on if we have the functioning to do so - but it isn't easy or always possible.

Though this is the same ideology that promotes sterilising autistic people in childhood before they can pass on their genes, so I suppose it's to be expected. For all their talk of "inclusivity" they don't give a fuck about us lot, and they care even less about low-functioning autistic people.

Hi Graham,

I know you often refer to trans rights activism as a men's rights movement, have you done any pieces that go into detail on the disparity between Trans identifying males on the public stage and trans identifying females?

The Wikipedia category for Transgender women covers three pages with 599 entires.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Transgender_women

The Transgender men category does not need to extend further than a single page, containing only 173 entries.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Transgender_men

Well over a three to one deficit of prominent trans identifying males by comparison to trans identifying females. This is a confounding ratio given that 74% of Tavistock referrals are female. The patriarchy doesn't seem to be under threat from all these girls and women identifying as men.

The fortunes of all those trans identifying males also seem to be much greater. Books, columns, modelling contracts, movies, TV shows, awards (for women), gold medals, tours, political appointments and campaigns. The names I recognise don't seem to have seen any drop off in work at all and most have only accelerated their career.

By Comparison, if you're female and transition, your options seem to get pretty limited pretty fast. Without porn, voiceover work or TV cameos the only names I recognised are a couple of (not very prominent) writers and an attorney.

This should alarm any trans allies that claim to be feminists every bit as much as gender critical feminists. In the public arena, females don't seem to be empowered by identifying as men to any extent while males retain their privilege whenever they adopt a female identity. This sex based discrimination should be highlighted by all, but from a GC perspective, it's important to remind girls and women who believe that they can identify out of their oppression that they're mistaken.

Anyway, here's the bullet points of the prominent trans people's careers since transition which got me worked up about this. Not saying anything all your readers don't know, but don't think I've seen it laid out like you have with "this never happens" and other stuff.

Thank you for this.

Far from being marginalised and discriminated against, men identifying as women seem to be largely lauded, applauded and rewarded, in all arenas from the arts to sports to modelling.

It has become a cause for celebrity but that is a sad reflection of our society today. In terms of recognition and success the ratio of men identifiying as women and becoming famous to women identifying as men and becoming famous is interesting but sadly not surprising. Like you say, something trans allies should really be aware of.
