It was only a matter of time.

Multi-litigant actions at last.

I'd like to see prison sentences.

Expand full comment

I hope you get those prison sentences, because I think the lack of them is why surgical scandals like this one repeat themselves. The more “professionals” are held to account for their collectively abusive behavior, the healthier and less codependent society becomes.

For their sheer stupidity all their exam qualifications should be taken away and they should have to restart their education from junion infant level.

(Though that might suit a few of the people Graham has written about before...)

Jail time, for sure.

Expand full comment

Not from these cases - civil cases are only about reparation (mainly money). However, if enough evidence of negligence is found, prosecutors may decide to get involved to bring criminal cases. Fingers crossed.

Expand full comment

Yes, definitely prison sentences, for the ghouls who callously harmed children.

Expand full comment

Exactly. Though "hung, drawn, and quartered" might be more appropriate ...

Definitely recalls the expression,"hanging's too good for them". (But a fine place to start!)

🙂 Indeed.

ICYMI, y'all might "enjoy" an article at Unherd by Hadley Freeman on her earlier efforts to interview people at Tavistock; bunch of Witchfinders-General there, an Inquisition of Torquemadas. More interested in pushing ideology than promoting patient care as the Unherd subtitle puts it:

https://unherd.com/2022/08/why-the-tavistock-wont-talk-to-me/

Yes thanks for this. Tavistock a celebrity? Talk about a red flag...

Expand full comment

Ta very much for the link, Steersman. Certainly interesting how the Tavistock regarded itself as a "celebrity"! Maybe that has something to do with the image of "trans" as glamorous and "cool": supposedly making anyone who claims that identity tres Special-- fascinating, sexy (irresistible to all!), and important-- so some of that fairy-dust rubs off on those supporting them. They all seem to feel like the "popular kids" at school, that's for sure. Which is rather ironic, since they don't seem to be very popular with anyone besides themselves. "A legend in their own mind", all right...

🙂 My pleasure; share the wealth, praise the lord and pass the ammunition. 🙂

But such an odd and quite bizarre though seriously problematic phenomenon. The roots of which go rather deep into some toxic territory yielding "flowers" of the same nature. So to speak.

Somewhat apropos of your "glamourous and cool", of "pixie fairy-dust", you might be interested in a couple of related articles. The first is from Jane Clare Jones, a UK feminist "philosopher" though her claims to that estate are somewhat tenuous even if she often has some cogent and quite useful insights:

https://janeclarejones.com/2019/06/04/a-dialogue-between-a-trans-woman-and-a-feminist-who-isnt-just-a-figment-of-the-trans-womans-mind/

Interesting dialogue in itself, but what is particularly intriguing, relevant and quite apt is Jone's choice of what she leads her article off with, a portion of a famous painting of Echo and Narcissus:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_and_Narcissus_(Waterhouse_painting)

Reminds me of reading The Culture of Narcissism probably some 40 years ago 😲; how time flies when you're having fun ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Culture_of_Narcissism

But in the same vein - or vain as the case may be, a Substack post by Eliza Mondegreen:

https://elizamondegreen.substack.com/p/leaving-your-husband-to-find-your

"Odd" that even supposedly older and more mature women are falling prey to that delusion; I guess simply getting a new haircut and nail polish is no longer sufficient these days in the "make-over" department ...

"Bizarre" hardly covers the phenomenon; profoundly depressing in many ways, not least because it leads to the butchery of autistic and defenseless children.

In large part the reason why I've now hung out my own shingle on the Substack platform to try to get at the roots of it; ICYMI, my opening salvo 🙂:

But I really hope they go quite far up the pyramid and imprison the right people. I don't want to see people imprisoned because they were acting in fear of their jobs. I want to see the ones holding the strings being held accountable.

Expand full comment

I agree. I think the punishment needs to be proportionate. I can't genuinely see prison time because I'm a cynic, but how can this not be a crime? Are doctors legally bound by ethics? I don't know enough about it.

Expand full comment

No, but there's an in-house process that holds doctors accountable for any ethical lapses.

They call these bodies hospital boards.

Expand full comment

Thanks. You say in-house, could it escalate to a criminal case?

Expand full comment

I'm wondering whether they could be charged with hate crimes, given the homophobia and/or misogyny involved. "Gay people shouldn't exist! Female bodies are gross!" If that doesn't constitute a hateful attitude towards two traditionally-stigmatized groups, then I don't know what does.

And if a doctor performed liposuction and bariatric surgery on an emaciated girl to "affirm" her delusion about being morbidly-obese, or her "identity" as "ana" (yeah, anorexia-as-an-identity was yet another Tumblrite phenomenon)... what would happen? Because this is pretty much the same thing, imo.

Oh my God. Couldn't be better news than this!!!!! Congratulations Graham, and to all those who fought back the 'gender' cult. They're the ones completely on the back foot now.!!!!!! Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful.

Yes, well done, you fabulous, lovely, courageous people, who stood up for children in the most toxic of times, against all odds.

Good news, I should be celebrating. I'm terrified for my daughter, who has centered her life for 6 years, since she was a kid in school, around her trans id.

Her world is about to fall apart. She will go from diversity hero to child abuse enabler. HR trophy to embarrassing shit stain

We need a truth and reconciliation process, for the generation, of young, mostly women, indoctrinated in school, who are now living as adults, totally dependant on the trans bubble.

Good luck, man. I hope she gets out of it ok

Young people weren't to know. The adults they trusted in clinics, schools, social work etc they are the ones to blame. Hopefully your daughter will recover and have many happy decades ahead of her free of this cult.

Can you get her out of the cult for a bit? Time away somewhere? No idea what your circumstances are. Wish I could help, Gender Critical Dad :(

Which also means the likes of The Guardian won't be able to consign this story to way, way down its pages, well beneath stories about hosepipe bans and actors who retire from 'The Archers'.

Oh dear, how awkward for them.

I have activist envy over here in New Zealand where we're still celebrating 'trans kids'. But hopefully this will help push us in the right direction. Meanwhile, bloody good job!!!

Argh, what's Arden's stance on this?

Expand full comment

She's pro sex self-ID, a policy her govt has already passed after racing it through without proper consultation and calling all opposition transphobic. Her Minister of Women's Affairs takes a strong 'trans women are women' no debate, anti-free speech stance.

Expand full comment

Typical woke idiot forcing through legislation without consultation especially without the consent of the electorate. They make me feel murderous, they're so dangerous and delusional.

Expand full comment

Trouble is, they did 'consult' and it was a farce. They were shockingly partisan, rude and sneery to many of those in open online consultation sessions. It was covered in a few pieces here.

Expand full comment

Yes. They made a show of consulting the public, but with zero intention of properly listening to anything we had to say and with their minds already made up. Pretty much like all Labour/Dem parties have done on this issue, only this one led by a woman with some impressive leadership and moral credentials. All the more bitter the sense of betrayal for feminists and other right-thinking people.

And you’ve still got legalised prostitution too. It’s a bit much really isn’t it

Amazing news but the sad thing is...how many will now follow, how many children will we see that have had their lives ruined and shortened by these delusional dangerous 'professionals'☹️.

It's tragic... NEVER AGAIN!

Oh my god indeed. How amazing,. 1000!!! Brilliant news.

Expand full comment

100 cases would have been a scandal. 1000 is unprecedented negligence. I feel a little worried that this could be misused by hawks on a mission to bring down the NHS completely. A scandal on this scale is beyond the responsibility of the individual clinic and even the trust. As the ultimate authority the NHS should have seen this coming years ago and done something decisive to avert it. That it did not do so reflects extremely badly upon it. It must be right up there at the peak of the whole structure that heads must roll.

Expand full comment

GIDS has been allowed to operate outwith the normal NHS procedures for years, so I hope it will be viewed as an outlier (that should never have been permitted) than representative of the NHS .

Expand full comment

OK - I didn't know that. But perhaps that makes the NHS even more liable. As you say it should never have been permitted, and who was doing the permitting?

Expand full comment

The health and mental health professions as a whole need to take a good look at themselves. That's the professional bodies and Medical Royal Colleges. How they all followed along is fairly breathtaking. They're still studiously quiet, or pumping out silly press releases despite this.

Expand full comment

To be fair to those at the top of the NHS, "Denton's tactics" ensured that all this madness went on below the radar until it had become so widespread as to look unchallengeable.

Also let's remember that the people (Big Pharma mainly) who profit from the gender ideology are the very ones who would profit (are already profiting) from the commercialisation of the NHS. They are like the arms traders who sell to both sides and get rich whoever wins.

Defend the NHS !

I should have said: Sue the pants off GIDS AND defend the NHS !

Expand full comment

It's about damn time. I will be curious to see how the fair weather celebrity clique respond to this. I do hope Neil Hannon has stuck by you Graham.

Expand full comment

This is fantastic news! But let this be only the start.

How long have you been sounding the alarm, Graham? It has been years, and internal alarms were probably being sounded within Tavistock even earlier.

So individuals within Tavistock who were warned should also be facing criminal charges - they KNEW, but kept on causing irreversible harm to vulnerable kids despite knowing gender affirmation was not the right path for the vast majority.

And Big Pharma must also be made financially and legally accountable. These companies that have not only been making huge profits from the completely unnecessary and destructive drugs they peddle, but have also funded the advocacy groups that then do much of their marketing for them.

Gender medicine “practitioners”, including surgeons should also be made accountable.

Lying to people that costly and irreversible surgeries and drugs will make them feel better comes nowhere even close to their “do no harm” obligations. (The only people assured of feeling better are those who reap the substantial financial rewards that result.)

I notice Big Pharma is doubling down - the Arcus Foundation’s Social Justice Program called for LGBTQI people to complete a survey “exploring how social media disinformation is impacting LGBTQ activism and rights” earlier this month.

Their tweet says “Social media plays a major role in fueling the rise of hateful "anti-gender" ideologies. “

That’s the first time I’ve heard scientific and biological reality called an “ideology”. But Big Pharma seems interested in bringing social media platforms to heel even further than happens currently.

No integrity or honesty at all in the “gender industry” - huge legal and financial disincentives are needed. So we’re making progress but our job is not done yet!

Expand full comment

"Anti-gender" ideologies. Oh yes, because we're the cultists with our evidence-based science.

Healthcare needs to split COMPLETELY with activism. Why would healthcare need activism? Fundraise for charities who do legitimate research, yes, but allowing non-medical professionals to dictate the best course of medical action and exercising their authority through threats and intimidation? NEVER AGAIN!

Expand full comment

This is the TURNING OF THE TIDE! Now we just need US lawyers to get greedy . . .

Expand full comment

I never thought I'd get satisfaction from the NHS getting sued. How wrong I could be. Don't mess with anyone, but NEVER mess with children. There must be a precedent set and it's got to hit their wallet for them to understand. NEVER medicalise children in the name of an ideology. Even I knew that and I'm not a doctor.
