My blood is boiling reading this. Absolutely raging with the injustice of it all.

That's how I feel 90 percent of the day, these days. Or extreme sadness. The woke have really messed our lives.

Censoring of the arts, how very progressive.

It's scary when no nuance or context can be considered. It's very obviously a song about two troubled people hurling insults in a drunken lovers' tiff, none of what they say is condoned. Shall we cancel Jane Eyre because it advocates arson?

its a beautiful song and touches such mess and fragility and it is also very sexy and passionate - really is the best and worst worst of times - you are the best graham

Remember the good ol' days when Art was a weapon of the oppressed...

And, because it was the elite and finally a growing upper middle class who had the education, it could also be a means of inculcating elite values. Certainly education has most often been used in the past and presently to inculcate elite values and arrangements.

Shane is an amazing lyricist and I’m embarrassed his work is being cancelled. Next it’ll be O’Casey plays banned and nobody will be allowed sing The rare old times, which I always sing when I’m locked at the top of my voice and will never stop.

Oh dear, what's happened to the Ant-Defamation League? "Today we remember & honor transgender people who have been murdered because of anti-trans hate..." etc etc. After reading the above item about a potentially murderous attack on a young man by trans, you'd think victims of trans violence could have a pretty coloured flag of their own and given a bit of sympathy, too, wouldn't you?! https://m.facebook.com/anti.defamation.league/posts/10156740602429648

Fairytale of New York is my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE Christmas song! With regards to the line ‘you cheap lousy faggot’ I always assumed that it wasn’t related to the slur for homosexual men. I simply thought that the word had been repurposed - dare I say ‘appropriated’ - to mean something else, like just a generic insult unrelated to sexual orientation. That’s how I understood it in the way people used to say it where I grew up. But then maybe it’s like the same way people say something is ‘gay’ when they don’t mean homosexual, but I suppose that is quite insulting. Not my place to say if it is insulting to someone else, but I love the song regardless and it will be belting out my house come 1 Dec!

It's so sad to see that Lidia is dragged in without a clue about her crime other than being woman of Opinions ofocurse.

The men one trans dudes, beat that boy up and showed their true masculinity lies in hitting people.

Curing homosexuality ? It's not a disease or a condition!! FFS, it's only the sexual orientation and attraction of an individual to the same sex as themselves. What's so wrong about accepting and living with it. Why the hell stictch your penises outside in, to create a fake vagina or stick up a tube to form new dicks? Transong isn't solution to anything. And homosexuals are happy people , they don't have problem to need solutions. That's peaked homophobia.

Billy Bragg is a ginger twat.

Victoria is nice writer. She pens Her thought effectively, just as much as Helen Staniland explains them effectively. We have some real intelligent Women amongst us

Re "Speaking of Kristy McColl," Billy Braggs assertion that he support women's rights with respect to the issues noted rings completely hollow in his "failure" to understand women's critique of trans rights.

'Derogatory terms for gender and sexuality' ... I count one term, and it's for sexuality, not gender. And I love Shane McGowan's intelligent and articulate (yet blindingly obvious) explanation for what it's doing there.

So, if Hugh Sheridan were to declare himself trans, or at least non-binary, it'd probably all be coolio - wouldn't it?

Graham, I made a comment about Fairy Tale of New York, but it got lost somewhere. Can you find it?
