"Dana Rivers aka David Chester Warfield was a California teacher who “transitioned” on the job and was let go due to allegations of locking his students into a classroom and forcing them to listen to him explain his personal life."
If that happened nowadays the handmaidens would probably say he's "stunning and brave"
Pornography helped him know he was a lesbian?! Per-lease! I don’t know which emotion is winning, I’m scared, angry and upset simultaneously. Horrific. And yes, the media blackout is very telling.
I've recommended it before, but I really think watching Transparent is very illuminating wrt to Michfest (there is a whole episode clearly inspired by it) and other issues, it is worth your time.
Yes! It is very much "TWAW, how stunning and brave", but unwittingly gives you really good insights if you are GC - in one episode, the main character and another man go away to a camp for men like them, which reminded me of your interview with Jennifer and her Ex's "community".
Also the Mich-fest ep was well done. It does show being distraught at finding out that the fest wasn't for the main character but also explains that part of the reason is because many women there had been victims of sexual violence and needed a place without male bodies.
Part of the reason for only allowing women being that the women there were assault survivors. The grammar above is abhorrent. The main character is distraught but from what I recall does not get angry about the policy.
He does object, though. A woman says she was a victim of rape, and he retorts: “I didn’t rape you”. But yes, I do think it’s worth watching bc it’s a bit like SG’s Ted Talk - unintentionally revealing.
Oh--well, that shows how well I recall things from >1 year ago. Even as a TRA at the time, I didn't think that the show made it seem like the women were being terrible for not wanting male bodies at their fest. I remember thinking that it was too bad that there couldn't be multiple fests, some for women only and some for women and trans women rather than thinking, those awful awful TERFs.

A truly frightening read
The media blackout on this case is both craven and inexcusable, IMO. What was the justification for it, does anyone happen to know?
