I think this issue has probably guaranteed the return of Morrison.
In France as well it's likely that Macron will be slaughtered at the polls for vaccine mandates and putting women in health out of jobs due to it. Le Pen is a little more dangerous than Morrison though so this lurch to the right might have some unintended consequences. But I agree with you that the left have made themselves 'unvoteable'.
Does she have a twitter account still? When I search @katherine_deves it says there is no such account. There is a fake account @KatherineDeves which I have reported.
The Australian Press is a shocker. I remember what they were like when Julia Gillard was Prime Minister - eye-wateringly and openly hostile. Although I appreciate Tony Abbott sticking up for Kath Deves, he was viscous towards Julia Gillard when he was the opposition leader while she was Prime Minister, more than just the normal opposition stuff. It’s pretty revealing to see how paper-thin standards are when behaving in the worst way you can is acceptable. Do I need to mention that women cop it worse than men when they are reviled?
Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing that Julia Gillard was responsible for that. It’s hideous that she did that, and I condemn her for it, however how she was vilified by the media and Tony Abbott in general was still appalling behaviour on their part. The media clearly still has no boundaries, and Tony Abbott is only playing ‘nice’ towards Kath because she is mirroring his - and most of ours - beliefs about women and men which tie in with his beliefs. How we treat people we disagree with is very telling. I’m not perfect in that regard, but some people and media take it to a whole other stratospheric level.
A little like Margaret Thatcher, and except for that one speech in Parliament which was her own personal experience, has Gillard done anything substantial for women?
I don't want to criticize too hard though, her and Clinton, whom I also don't have much respect for, don't seem to have swallowed the TRA pill in its entirety. Say like Elizabeth Warren has. Or any of the younger women politicians like AOC, Hanson-Young or Chloe Swarbrick in NZ.
THIS is our opportunity in Australia to have all the issues go mainstream, please help.
Our 'stonewall' is ACON, and they are in Federal, State and Local governments. In states like Victoria - sanctions of up to 250K and 5 years jail have just kicked in, the fear this creates in speaking up is real, Katherine is right at the front of this fight.
The onslaught on Katherine Deves is just phenomenal
But this is the first time really where people will be paying attention and we get to reply to THE LIES, THIS is the opportunity to get our voice MAINSTREAM - everything they throw at us is an opportunity to be heard!
On twitter, facebook whereever the hashtag is #IStandWithKatherineDeves
Zali, Katherine's competitor for Warringah seat is getting particularly vicious because Katherine is a long time friend of Bridie who is the wife of Zali's ex-husband so knows some bad stuff about Zali (Kath wouldn't stoop so f--king low to get into that shit, bummer)
I popped into FB and liked everything likeable. At the minute it’s not possible to comment where a comment would be useful. But I have seen worse pile-ones in my time, and there is a fair amount of support. I will keep an eye open.
Push back in Australia is less, but this perhaps is because it is almost totally secret, and the bits that make it into the public domain are incredibly distorted.
Thank you, Graham! The attacks on Kath have been vicious. Not a single article written about her has stopped to consider that the screenshots activists have taken may be out of context, she’s been forced to delete most of her social media and be silent so she can’t defend herself. Absolute lies are being promulgated by the ABC, the Sydney Morning Herald and News.com.au Anyone who has followed her over the last year knows she’s not a bigot.
Australia changed its federal law regarding sex discrimination in 2013; individual states have been introducing self I’d, anti conversion, and anti vilification. This is in line with the Australian Human Rights Commission road map. Victoria is leading the pack, I’m sure. 🤔☹️
The Guardian ( Aus) has an article so biased and stupid that it scarcely passes for quality journalism.
The tv Dr Who production have recruited two trans women, one for writing and other acting, so Guardiard UK published an article yesterday declaring this is the feminisation of Dr Who. Just as well males in dresses cheating women out of their places & spaces never happens©.

Thanks Graham- Kath is a total legend as you know and bringing in reinforcements from UK feminists would be wonderful x

Abbot has a few daughters likely in their 20s or early 30s. The odd thing is that he was accused of being a misogynist not so long ago.

she's deleted to stop people trying to find more stuff to misrepresent
Good to know. I’ve liked and followed her on fb.

Totally off-topic but have you played Elden Ring?
