There are now so many attacks on women’s rights on so many fronts that I’m just not able to cover it all in my updates, and like everyone in this fight, I feel bad when I’m not doing everything I can for La Résistance. So I’m setting up a separate newsletter

Great - I've signed up! I've just finished an afternoon of Equality, Diversion & Inclusion training at the charity I volunteer for. Some of it was mildly interesting, and some I was familiar with after years in Education. But the graphic on "protected characteristics under the 2010 Equalities Act had "gender" in place of sex. I googled the Act and of course it's sex that's actually protected. Asked the trainer why this was so - official government materials was the reply. I wonder how the materials were devised?
Many women live with the constant pressure of conforming to patriarchal notions and oppression. Some face more threats than others.“her indoors” can be seen two ways to keep her safe or to keep her chained to do the reproductive and other labour depending on whether you’re the beneficiary of it or the trapped slave. To step out, speak out or live freely is revolutionary and dangerous. It takes a heavy psychological toll on women to feel unsafe and unequal wherever we go. It causes all manner of neurosis to be isolated in this way with sole care of children which is literally a 24/7 job and which is naturally relieved by partnership or community. To expect more give from women is absolutely impossible as it stands. As well as all the reproductive (which takes a toll) and other labour many women are also competing and performing in work outside the home which presents us all a conundrum who cares and oversees the children? Is there time and resource for her self care (radical notion...she’s a human with human limitations and needs ....like food and sleep and fun and joy) This has become monetised but is unreliable and limited and the cost benefit to raising our own kids often not worth it given women generally love their children and have them to do just that, in balance. women are hitting their limits of taking shit and have entered the workforce if it is supported and they can afford it bringing the knowledge and experience of these inequities (usually by seeing their Mothers struggle) many know so well and which simply haven’t occurred to men to sort as it’s against their interests to do so.To have the male class supervising women in the home, mothering, in the systems is unacceptable now. Most often they should just recognise whose actually getting things done and show some respect. The sadistic behaviour and preening of men are just two ends of a spectrum of men suffering cognitive dissonance about what society tells them and what they see happening so along with women men suffer under patriarchy. Emancipation is important but the structures mean women’s labour isn’t even seen so just cutting women and kids loose to be vulnerable prey and to fend for themselves and to relieve men of their time and financial obligations just hasnt been the way to go and is causing dire social consequences. So men continue to ponce and pounce about the place, punching down, like wee emperors with an army of lowly or not paid minions cleaning up after them and their children if they’re lucky. The sadism and arrogance exhibited by these men is galling. But enough men and women are refusing to cooperate or cover for them anymore or collude with them. We’re all empowered to say “no” and fight back. We all now know we have nothing left to lose including our dignity (the rigours of pregnancy and childbirth gets rid of that!). We must continue to challenge the institutions and orthodoxies that continue the delusion to survive (albeit many women don’t survive their enslavement) and are raped, abused, killed in the home and everywhere else. Despite extreme efforts by MRAs and the toxic DARVO and victim blaming which is part of these structures to provide cover to men. I’m thrilled a space to report these insults to women hood by these cowards are now expanding everywhere. We’ve left it nearly too late for the planet to create something that is both sustainable and habitable which it hasn’t been for women and children for a long time and put financial and other systems in place for everyone. Otherwise Earth will soon be looking like Mars. I suspect we may well have been there and killed it as patriarchy does exploit and rape and kill everything, already 😀 We can all keep reporting but yes we are all very, very tired....thank you for what you do as it has all now been synthesised down to women “sleeping with the enemy” which isn’t a situation any of us want to be in and really has, and deserves, no future. More men need to grow up and take responsibility and get a grip with their own relative privilege and just stand down.
