I don’t get why a mastectomy is something that should be revered. It’s terrible. I understand They have split from their wife and that lockdown made them realise they wanted to transition. Was this also the Persian who once remarked they were ashamed to be a lesbian? Any other mental illness is met with the offer of help and not woke affirmations and collusion. It’s a sad day indeed. It sends out a terrible message to young and vulnerable people who aren’t protected/excused/supported because of wealth/fame/profile
It is so sad. A healthy young person having healthy body parts amputated. Also, why are so many people seeing breasts as so disposable? They are not just random lumps of fat, they are real living organs.
(Ok, different people view breasts as either being organs or not, but they aren't just aesthetic is what I'm saying.)
I am not a therapist however my first thought was “how thorough was the therapy”. I wonder if she will grow to regrets it. Has she had a hysterectomy as well?
I’ve lost count now the amount of people I know who have shared pictures of women with mastectomies, praising them for being their ‘true selves’. Also same people praising parents who socially affirm their 7-year-olds! Cannot wrap my head around that. Also makes me think of the countless women and girls who go the opposite way and want to have endless surgeries and treatments to look like a porn star. I personally have no problem with it but this category is certainly not treated as stunning and brave, and we certainly wouldn’t be encouraging our children to aspire to that look.
Thank you so much for this. When I found this site I lost an entire night’s sleep. I always assumed this was a question of a persecuted minority that needed our protection. I’ve spent today sending the cream of this site to someone who thought you and JK Rowling shouldn’t have got involved in “something that doesn’t effect” you. I thought it was irrefutably offensive material but it would seem not. I was asked if I had a problem with gay marriage and ultimately asked if The Guardian have covered the issue! She told me these things “couldn’t happen in Ireland” as we have free speech. (Down with this sort of thing!) It’s incredibly dispiriting and makes one question oneself. I wrote to Jean Cross to support her letter which I saw here. I really admire what you’re doing and am so sorry for the treatment you’ve received.
I didn't know Page had had a mastectomy until I saw today's TMWI. Very sad and disturbing. It also seems like it all happened very fast, I doubt there has been much or any attempt to have her psychologically assessed to see if her dysphoria could be from something else.
She has always seemed to me like she was sad and stressed out no matter what was going on, I think Arty was onto something saying that she needed to channel feeling like a victim.
Ee gads, what a dystopian compilation. I'd call it the best yet, but it's too depressing. A pile up of idiocies one atop the other. Trans madness shows us just how successful patriarchy continues to be in grinding down female bodies, minds, spirits.
Did page really get a mastectomy because the language thats been used it sounds like she just had fat removed from her breast..there's one thing these celebrities have in common when the transition, they never go full trans.
I noticed people, responding to those saying (s)he looks ill or unhappy, pointing out, reasonably enough, that “solemn and broody” is a typical look for male celebs on magazine covers. So maybe (s)he’s not ill - maybe (s)he’s trying to look broody and masculine - and it just comes out looking anorexic. Maybe.
Are we meant to applaud Elliot Page's transition? If this is who you always wanted to be, maybe you could tell your face?
Also, that look might already be copyrighted.

Who are they? Do you mean both Paige and her wife transitioned?
She and her wife split.
I think she means “they” to refer to Page, thus avoiding “she” or “he.”
Yes, the pronoun business is very confusing.
