It was recently revealed that there are 27 convicted male transfers being housed in New Jersey’s only prison for women, Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women (EMCFW). Among them is a sadistic trans-identified male serving a 50-year sentence for the brutal murder of a sex trafficked immigrant woman.
Good God. This article just makes my blood boil ( brilliantly written as it is 👍👏). I've been saying for years ( to friends and family ) that men should never be allowed to guard women.😡 The power imbalance is so obvious yet its just ignored. It's rape culture and the absolute misogyny behind it is easy to see. Jeez this was a hard read. Why are people so blind to who the most vulnerable really are? My heart breaks for the women having to deal with this day in day out. And there will be people who will shrug and say that these are merely the consequences of having commited a crime. Why the fuck aren't the ACLU standing up for these women rather than campaigning for TIMs to be incarcerated with them? Makes me feel physically ill.
